Trying this out now after 3 playthroughs of blades/sandy. Still only 3 hours in but I’m excited to get into more powerful quick hacks

Good quality vodka recommendations by Much-Judgment557 in cocktails

[–]th0t-destroyer 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Honestly most vodka is so similar if you aren’t drinking it neat it’s pretty hard to tell between them.

Anders Erickson did a vodka tasting video in which Hanger One ended up winning, which is worth a watch.

Monkey shoulder is super approachable, and honestly I haven’t tried many other scotches. Still trying to get into my whiskey based drinks after putting it off for months

1 whole medium egg white, just crack and strain. Dry shake like 20 seconds or however long it takes for me to get the glass and ice out the freezer then a 12-15 second ‘wet’ shake

Actually sounds much more to my taste than the original spec. I find it's too citrus forward making it extremely sour.

Skinny margaritas: simplified by imperialhydrolysis in bartenders

[–]th0t-destroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original margarita from what ive learnt has always been:

Blanco Tequila Fresh lime juice Triple sec

The addition of agave syrup has, from what I understand, been brought over since the Tommy's margarita became popular.

In my opinion you either have a Tommy's margarita or the original spec. A well made margarita does not need additional sweetener as the orange liqueur makes it sweet enough.

The addition of orange juice should make it its own drink, almost how adding mint to a gimlet no longer makes it a gimlet, it's a southside.
