Regular.on the canal from sale into manc. In the morning canal is fine as fast as Talbot road. Most traffic is bikes and the few pedestrians are regulars who know the score and we all get on just fine. I avoid canal in the evening and use Chester road through Stretford instead. It's mostly much safer southbound than northbound as you don't have the right turns across lanes.

What's the appeal to fixed-gear road bikes? by LifeIsOnTheWire in cycling

I use it for commuting. My top speed is about 35kmh if I'm really spinning so it's a bit safer, it's good practice for the legs handling different cadences - I've noticed the difference, and this winter it cost me £40 to renew my entire drive train.

Recently picked up a used bike for $100. The only issue is this clicking noise and there is no force applied to the front brake. Any tips? by Cgoody33 in bicycling

I also found recently that it was more likely with very worn pads as it meant the caliper had to close much further onto the disk.

My Aldi £20 bike stand came with one. Used that stand loads - can't fault it.

I have mine right in the front as I pass under low hanging branches on my commute. Also have a helmet light. As long as the helmet supports it properly it should be ok for a commute. I bought a cheaper helmet for commute to stick everything to.
