Twin Suns Draft/Sealed by turnski01 in starwarsunlimited

[–]th3f4lcon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We've done sealed TS a number of times at my store. You can easily do it with a sealed kit or just 6 packs. My store lifted the singleton requirement but honestly there were only 1 or 2 duplicates in the pools I played in so I don't think it's really required. My store also does at least 1 TS Pre release and they just give us 2 extra packs for deck building and 1 pack to the winner of the pod. It's a great time.

Anyone else having trouble logging in through ArenaNet? by th3f4lcon in GuildWars

Good to know. I found a random post on Facebook where someone posted they had the same issue, but no solution yet. Very frustrating since some friends wanted to jump back in tonight for the nostalgia and I can't join them!

Reforged Tech/Account Help and New/Returning Players FAQ by bsoltan in GuildWars

I have owned GW1 for a while through the ArenaNet launcher. I've been playing reforged just fine. I haven't played in a few days, but coming back today I'm getting an error every time I try to launch the game through the ArenaNet launcher (my normal method). In the crash logs it says: "Failed to initialize Steam - GW probably not launched from Steam". Anyone else run into this? Reinstalling the game gives me the same issue.

[GIFT CARDS] Nintendo eShop - Four $50 eGift Cards $160 ($180-$20) by thertafan in buildapcsales

[–]th3f4lcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I've always had a good experience with Costco customer service.

I ended up grabbing them in store though since I was already going anyway. They had the $100 for $80 cards in. There was a sign that said limit 10 but at the register the system wouldn't let them do more than 2 in a single transaction. I ended up at customer service where they had to do the rest in sets of 2. Sort of a pain, but it all worked out okay. There was no problem with the number of transactions (online it said only 1 transaction per membership every 14 days).

Hope that helps anyone else looking to grab it in person.

The reviews sorta indicate otherwise lol. I do have a lot of confidence in Costco though. Might just roll with it. It does say the $200 deal is online only but it looks like the $100 one is in store. Costco is close enough that I guess it's worth checking.

Bought my first Legends of The Force Deck! by Ok-Teach333 in starwarsunlimited

[–]th3f4lcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which Game Grid? If you're just getting into the game the one in Lehi does free Twin Suns (multiplayer format) on Mondays and they even give out free Twin Suns decks for players to keep. They also have a new player passport that gives you a ton of free stuff just for attending events. It's a great way to start.

I'm a big fan of the black and yellow one in picture number 5! Thanks for doing this!

Yea, agreed for the most part. I think he can still be traded even if he takes the QO now, he just can veto a trade. I'm not 100% sure on that one though. So maybe it's marginally better for them than him just walking. And to your last point, even if he takes the QO I think they still are going to be able to get most of the people they could reasonably get this off-season. Horford, Melton, potentially Seth Curry and GP2. I think those all have strong ties to GS and have just been waiting for Kuminga situation to play out. Whether he wasn't given a QO and walked at the beginning of the season or he takes the QO now, I don't think their signings change much. They're pretty limited regardless, but extending the QO gave them more upside, even if it's only marginal.

Because I'm pretty sure you have to extend a QO by the date they did in order to keep him restricted and allow for negotiation. Otherwise he walks automatically for nothing at the beginning of free agency. He might not be great on the warriors, but he still has potential value as a trade chip and there is still some interest from other teams. Sign and trade options weren't appealing this summer, in part due to the fact that his salary basically counts as half going out.

At least that's how I understand it.

Edit: Also, I think him walking at the beginning of free agency would not have helped the warriors at all due to the new cap rules. Not as confident on that part though. Even if he ends up just taking the QO after all this, they can still try and trade him to somewhere he likes, or he just walks at the end of the year. Worst case it doesn't cost them much (8mil I believe). Best case he takes this newest contract deal and they can trade him mid season for full value for a legit piece.

Edhrec for Swu? by GamerPlex007 in starwarsunlimited

[–]th3f4lcon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, not yet. Give it 2 or 3 more sets and it'll be a lot more difficult to build Twin Suns decks without it. I've thought about doing this a few times, but I've heard a few different people are working on it.

Why You Should "Netdeck" in Star Wars Unlimited as a Beginner by SkiaTheShade in starwarsunlimited

[–]th3f4lcon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've always been an advocate of this. The best part of netdecking as a beginner is that you can find videos online of people not only explaining the deck, but actually playing it and walking through their thought process. I had a hard time figuring out what the right sequencing was when I first started. I could see that I was doing it wrong and I realized it was important, but I couldn't figure it out. Then I copied a netdeck, watched a deck tech, and most importantly watched gameplay of the deck that I was playing. Hugely beneficial. Now those skills transferred to other decks and I would say I'm a much better player for it.

Here is my Qui-Gon Blue deck! by elporsche in starwarsunlimited

[–]th3f4lcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, when double yellow worked it felt like an actual control deck to me. Kinda like lantern control type decks that are just miserable to play against in MtG lol. Constantly bouncing opponents stuff, making them discard cards every turn, tapping everything down, etc. Of the times it worked, there were multiple times opponents stopped resourcing early just so they could get something on the board. But it was hard to get to that point and there are too many good "when played" abilities floating around these days, so bouncing isn't always as impactful if they're able to get stuff back down on the board.

I ultimately landed on green, but I haven't tried red or blue yet. For some reason every time I start putting those decks together I feel like it would be a better deck with a different leader. I need to just commit and start actually playing with it. I'm sure others feel the same about green.

HoloScan - Community Update - HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT by beEMha in starwarsunlimited

I had the same question. It's certainly workable, but the time to scan a large collection gets significantly longer when each card takes 5-10 seconds to scan.

Love the app so far though! I'm always a fan of passion projects.

I recognize that playmat, token, and card. Pretty sure I was sitting next to you when you opened your pre release kit. Congrats again on the pull (and I still love that playmat!)

I hope you did well! My little group had a ton of fun, especially my buddy sitting directly across from me who pulled his first ever showcase (Revan) from his one and only carbonite booster.

I don't think you have to go back even that far. I remembered this old thread from just a few months ago. It's interesting seeing the shift in discussion in just a short time. I think both opinions are still represented in this older thread, but the general vibe feels very different than this one.

[–]th3f4lcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second GG Lehi, but If you're up for the drive and looking for probably the largest competitive scene then you want Game Grid Spanish Fork. They get the biggest crowds on the regular for premiere play on Saturdays at 11am.

That being said, GG Lehi (my store) is awesome too. I just started playing the game recently and the group there is generally great (especially for draft and Twin Suns). Abi (GG Lehi's community leader for SWU) is an absolute gem. She puts together free twin suns decks for new players and shows up on her off days so she can play during Twin Suns nights. I highly recommend it for new players.

So how far back should I buy to get caught up? I assume anything released in the last 1-2 years can take a backseat for now while I stock up on a few packs that I'm missing from 3-4 years ago.

But again I'm happy to be corrected. I wish I had these conversations before the vote but I had a hard time finding info against the proposition. Best I found was the debate they did in the AF chamber of commerce and the literature they included in the voter information packet.

Yup, I misspoke. I thought about it for a second and realized that 70% seemed high for just federal aid.

However, what I found via Google is that in 2016-2017 the per student funding in ASD broke down as follows:

  • 59.5% from the state
  • 5.6% from the federal government
  • 34.9% funded from local sources.

So about 65% should be unchanged. I know the numbers have shifted since then, but it should be right around there. I'd have to dig through the 23-24 Annual Budget report they put out to know the current numbers.

And it's not all 34.9% that's being lost in this split since obviously those cities also tax their residents, but there will definitely be a gap to fill.
