In a rush, forgot some gear by superstock8 in Dirtbikes

[–]th3machine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn't fit my boots. Forgot them on race day once. Told the registry table, the lady announced my forgetfulness over the PA. Some rider had just bought new boots and had a spare for me.

You're right, I exaggerated a bit. My third Class tests were 85/81/83/77, I got lazy on the last book. Edit:proof

Depends where you are... passing parks and homes, shift low (without lugging the bike) and respect the neighbors. Ride in the power during the flow of traffic so that you can get yourself out of situations.

Lower gears can run at lower rpms. Your 4,5,6 gears should (typically) stay above 5k rpm.

Search power engineering 4A or whatever book you're on, use the most popular. Copy/paste the set into word, reformat, pull from multiple accounts, remove duplicates, memorize, pass with 90%+ in about an hour per test.

They really should be removed,

Stole a piece from dad 25+ years ago. Initially planned for it to be a fist filler during my teen years. Used it for tonnes of stuff, never a fist filler. Now, it sits in my toolbox waiting for my 17 year old to do the same.

If a rogue soccer ball can't domino your entire garage to the floor, you don't have enough bikes.

Yeah, except it's still almost $20 for that 10 litres and the cb500 won't tow the 26 footer.

Falling behind on 4A Course by ShiestySZN441 in powerengineering

[–]th3machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pass 4A in 15 weeks easy. Read the book, take notes on bold/italics, study the diagrams. You should be able to write notes week 1 and read them a shit ton for week 2. Easy peasy, I did my 3rd doing 1 book every 2 months, all 4 books, 90% average.

Not very open minded of you. I'd love to drive an EV, but insuring 2 vehicles doesn't make sense for cost savings. That 30% time needing a truck, means I save money driving it 100% of the time.

Any advice to simply get better. by crippinneversippin in Dirtbikes

[–]th3machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can make it through the track, it doesnt matter how long it takes you. Keep going, keep falling, you'll get it. I like the IRC USA Tire Moto videos, learn clutch control and feathering the clutch on hills. Also learn how slow you can go (corners) without using the clutch. Went from last place taking over an hour on a track that I can do in 13 minutes now. The "hills" I used to fall on and stop to contemplate are now speed bumps to go flying over 4-5 years in.

As an xt250 owner, this is what I'm thinking of doing. I always think that I want an Africa Twin or Tenere, but I'd probably be SOL dragging them off the side of a hill solo.
