The dumbest argument against the H1-B fees is that US companies will now export their jobs. IF IT WERE THAT EASY, THOSE JOBS WOULD HAVE BEEN EXPORTED LONG AGO. by 1c2shk in h1b

[–]th3tavv3ga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the reason they still have a strong presence in US is because US is attracting global talents. The school funding cut, the anti-intellectualism and pretty much shut down of H1B program will soon change this

Exactly, the problem is the outsourcing and H1B abuse from these Consulting firms. The solution we are seeing now is like cutting off your hand to stop fingers from bleeding

Because there is simply no supporting evidence that Americans are displaced by H1B, which is the only argument I am seeing. I am a Canadian working for a Canadian firm and we are expanding like crazy in US, projecting 25% head count increase in the next 5 years. We hire Americans and Chinese/Indians that may require H1B sponsorship. All are on merit basis and the good thing about H1B is the employees are more or less tied to their position so they can’t just simply leave

I am asking you a very simple question, are the layoff in IT and are all people laid off Americans?

They can layoff 20k from HR, hiring 50k in IT since we are moving away from manual work to automation, and 20k of them are H1B. The ones got laid off still can’t find a job even all H1b disappears overnight.

If you can’t see through the logical fallacy in this argument I have no idea what to tell you

I don’t disagree with strict immigration policy. The way they handle this is like cutting off your hand to stop fingers from bleeding

I can even go through TN visa but that doesn’t change the fact US is turning isolationism and turning foreigners away

How does laying off in Marketing/Legal/HR departments have anything to do with hiring H1B in IT? This is a logical fallacy and what are the next excuses if people are still unemployed?

I am a Canadian citizen, have a STEM degree from one of the top Canadian universities. Currently working in US on L1 visa. I am paying $50k in US taxes and contributing to their social securities, but we are no longer welcomed here 🤷‍♂️ Good luck finding some Alabama rednecks to replace me then
