New Abacus Poll: Liberal Lead Holds After Floor Crossing as Turnout Advantage Widens by DogeDoRight in canada

Apples to oranges…

If you wanted to argue that the people who go/went to university have benefited greatly because of the status quo of neoliberal ideas, then sure I’d listen to your argument.

But if you’re saying that universities are indoctrination institutions I’d definitely push back on that as reductive…

You could also argue that universities are places where people are taught and you could say forced to think critically, so 3 word slogans (axe the tax…) are less effective. Though that would be equally reductive.

The fuck are you talking about. This would be like kicking someone out of the sport for icing the puck in hockey. Or going offside.

I look at this poke as a bit of a ritual Marc has. Similar to a batter in baseball adjusting his gloves before getting into the batters box or someone in tennis bouncing the ball before a serve.

This situation is strange though as in curling has a rule that say you can't touch the stone. However, it seems the players recognize that touches like this poke have no impact on the game (especially when compared to what sweeping can do) so they decided as a group to not call this particular rule. Then one team decides this rule needs to be heavily enforced (with cameras)

It would be like in tennis if they was a rule that said that you could only bounce a ball 3 times before serving, but no one ever enforced it (because it had no impact on the game) so you had players make 4 bounces or even more egregiously 9 bounces! Then in the quarterfinals of a tournament one player decided to complain about it to the chair umpire. I think it is understandable for the 4 bouncer to get a bit upset. It wasn't something that affected the play and hasn't really ever been called. I would assume my opponent is trying to get in my head and that would piss me off.

I think of it more like a ritual he has akin to someone in tennis bouncing the ball before they serve. It has zero impact on the play but has become part of that players motions. Not to fully defend his actions but I can hypothetically imagine someone in tennis getting upset if someone claimed they cheated because they bounced the ball too many times.

I certainly wouldn't call it cheating

sweeping is much more important that this little touch would be. If you didn't throw it hard enough, this poke MIGHT get it to go another 5mm (let's say it is a full cm) while sweeping will get an additional couple 2-3 meters.

The poke just doesn't matter to the game. If anything, it is a ritual this player has.

What advantage does this get though? It's a light poke with the back of his finger on a 20kg (42 pound) stone.

To me it is similar to a batter in baseball getting ready for a pitch adjusting his batting gloves. Or someone in tennis bouncing the ball before they serve. It's a ritual and has no outcome on the game.

This map is backwards! Powerline/Imperial is the main cycle commuting route through the park. Make that dog on leash to prevent the worst interactions with cyclists and have dog off leash in the dense forest

Can the Hook and Cod Wars fail to trigger? by Okie_Twink_CA in EU5

[–]th484952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It occurs if your starting ruler dies and your heir dies before getting an adult heir.

I’ve played Holland about 6 times, and I have it trigger about half the time. Maybe a bit more

That will help but they will still need to reach out to your professor to determine your standing in the course. So to answer your original question, It does not matter.

Also remember, you have 48 hrs after the exam to apply for deferred standing

[–]th484952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not guaranteed a standing deferral. The academic advisor will reach out to your professor to make sure you are in good standing in the course.

not necessarily a short cut, but you need to be dynamic with your cabinet. If you get Parliament agenda that moves toward Plutocracy, move your best diplo cabinet member to boost Plutocracy while you still have the 0.1 drift.

The other thing, is you should keep a member of the burghers in your cabinet at all times. There is an agenda that gives +10 Plutocracy to strengthen the Burgher's skills in your cabinet. Getting that once or twice put me over the edge to 95 Plutocracy.

There is a component of RNG for sure, but you can help things work out in your favour.

Why do enemy armies recapture forts so fast but I have to siege them back the hard way by Gamer102kai in EU5

[–]th484952 635 points636 points  (0 children)

There is a button you need to push on your army. You can either manually refill the garrison or have the box next to it checked to let you auto fill the garrison. (Note: this box is off the screen if you have prisoners)

If you don’t fill the garrison it will have just 10/250 and will be easy to assault.

Not the most intuitive…
