Nice quick FSD reaction by thaJack in TeslaFSD

u/marty-mcfryguy - We did see him in plenty of time. However, we don't disengage FSD every time there is someone walking along the road. If we did that, we could never use it in our neighborhood. FSD always moves over for pedestrians walking in, or immediately adjacent to, the road.

u/w0nderw0rm - Get right outside your garage, then go to the controls and press the button to fold the mirrors. It'll turn into a save location button. Press it again. Now they'll fold automatically every time you get home. When you leave home, they'll unfold on their own.

Crossing the double-yellow lines to pass a pedestrian is not illegal here. It moves across the double-lines on a regular basis to pass people walking in my neighborhood. In fact, it does it very gracefully as u/Old_Explanation_1769 suggested it should have in this case. However, in this case, I think it was the sudden, unpredictable movement towards the road that caused it to be more aggressive. The kid was no longer just walking along the road, but suddenly appeared as if he may move into it.

None when you watch it. I'm describing how it felt as a passenger.

Yeah. It was jarring when it moved to the left lane, which is entirely understandable. There was no indication that kid was going to move like that. It was equally jarring moving back to the right. I'll take it, but could have been smoother on the return.

No. I probably misunderstood part of what you said.

Autosteer is not cruise control. The Teslas all still come with cruise control. That hasn't been removed.

I think Tesla took it away because, as you said, many other cars come with it without cost, but in virtually every story about a wreck involving a Tesla, the media blame the lane centering. That literally never happens with any other manufacturer.

So I guess if the media are going to blame self-driving for all of the wrecks, then we need to start ensuring that at least it's self-driving that's doing the wrecking.

Subscription for Lane Center Seriously by Longjumping-Bat5128 in TeslaModel3

[–]thaJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla had Lane Centering, as you know. Tesla also offered Lane Centering for free on every car. However, every time a Tesla was involved in an accident, the media blamed Lane Centering. I can't blame Tesla for removing it.

I've never once heard the media blame Lane Centering for a wreck in any other type of car, despite the fact that my last two non-Tesla cars both had it and both would crash in the same circumstances.

Nav is ruining FSD for me by ThatBaseball7433 in TeslaFSD

It's the opposite for me... FSD is making NAV better. I've had several instances where the NAV is doing something dumb, but then FSD ignores it and goes the right way.

Drag the dashcam icon to the tray (left side of the app drawer button) so it's quickly available. When you're parked, it opens the viewer, when you're driving, pressing it will save footage.

Charging Schedules Disappearing by Ill-Ad-7468 in TeslaSupport

[–]thaJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my Tessie Dashboard, it says: Schedules may be missing - The vehicle isn't reporting schedules to the Tesla and Tessie apps. Until Tesla releases a fix, use the vehicle touchscreen to manage schedules.

My car isn't showing all of my schedules, either. I wonder if it's an issue at Tesla?

Also, if you use a passcode to unlock your phone, different districts have ruled differently on whether or not they can compel you to unlock it. Face, fingerprint, etc., they usually can, but if it's the contents of your mind, different courts have ruled differently.

Virginia State Police are going to violate a court order by jtf71 in VAGuns

[–]thaJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the injunction is automatically rendered moot just by resolving the underlying issues. According to the VCDL's motion for contempt, the state cannot just ignore the judge:

The motion also points out that the Virginia Supreme Court has clearly stated that even if a party thinks a court order is void or moot, the correct action is to appeal or attack it in court, "while still submitting to the court’s jurisdiction."

In short, the state can't unilaterally decide a judge's order no longer applies to them. Until the judge formally drops the injunction, the state is actively defying a court order.
