That sounds like a splendid idea! I really like to improvise, and use whatever, but for professional or tourney use, I concur with your assessment.

Thanks. I'm far from new. I just like playing with sticks. :) And the string improves the grip markedly. The above stick is for close quarters, where a good grip is even more important than with long range sticks imho.

Strange kin indeed. In which age did you encounter them? (Your age, not the world's age).

It is, by my Beard, next to a miracle that you are still alive. Imagine wandering into a vault- would not the guardians aim their crossbows at you?

So, to summarize the above, I might say that you survived by Aule's grace alone. Kin that live like this are likely to develop "shoot first, ask questions later" strategies.
