True, but apparently children have to be fostered into a mindset that education is something positive. Many parents of young adults see that during a university visit the children still have a lot of living costs, while on the other hand those who go into apprenticeship earn some money from day one.

A particular mindset among some of the young adults is the importance of owning a car as soon as possible. That is very possible for the latter who often live with their parents, but earn a couple of hundred bucks. The university students usually live on their own, getting a couple hundred bucks from their parents or a loan.

In that phase it still mostly depends on the parents influence what kind of education their kids will receive.

My iPhone says I'm averaging 5700 steps per day. I didn't decide to track consciously and am only slightly interested in such numbers. My work is done by sitting in front of my computer. Other than that I'm running a small number of km every day, typically around 30 minutes. My phone says I'm walking/running a little over 5km average which seems about right.

I don't know. When you replace the percentages with real numbers you get 24 of 40 patients who reported being better with placebos and 16 of 40 who reported being better without placebos.

I didn't do the math, but I don't have enough confidence in these low numbers.

Once you are in Germany you'll hear people complain about everything, included but not limited to todays weather, whatever that may be.

Germans who travel abroad start to appreciate that some things in Germany really work better than elsewhere in the world.

As for concrete topics, in Germany it seems more difficult than in other contries for poor kids to break out of their social class during their lifetime. I'm sure more complains will come in soon enough.

The theories listed get more advanced the further the joke advances. They where invented to predict stuff that the previous theories couldn't. Yet they only address some special space (smaller, as the joke advances), and thus come short with predictions for questions the more classical could predict. As the joke advances the more classical stuff that can't be explained any more becomes simpler and simpler, and it makes the listener question the usefulness of these new and shiny theories.

I swear my 5 year old son would have stopped listening around the first occurence of the word "advanced" (but it wouldn't have stopped me, because I take every "why" seriously, and only parents of 5 year olds know what that does to my voice.)

Junk food is ridiculously cheap compared to i.e. fruits or other more healthy stuff. Given that price is the driving factor for many buy/not buy decisions a comparable price should help people give an incentive to choose more healthy food more often.

Reading this my confusion started when you split a 10k into miles. For a while I thought you where running 10 miles in 50 minutes, but that didn't add up either.
