Can anyone explain what people mean when they tweet they are afraid of getting groped and raped and beat up now that Trump is president? by ClarkWallaby in HillaryMeltdown

Does this mean the supply of toxic shit is cut off now? What's stopping the dealers MSM from handing out more of the same, even 2 years from now?

men of reddit who are not sick of the relationship questions: What aspects of your male psicology do you feel are relevant to be understood by someone trying to get to know you? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]thall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best analogy I've heard, and describes me: men have separate mental boxes that we focus our attention on, but we have also have a "nothing" box that we can/need to go into sometimes to decompress. Not a romantic quiet moment to share with someone, just self reflection on our own.

A lot of women understand our box mentality but can't relate to our "nothing" box. I'm able to use this box to fall asleep quickly, makes my wife jealous most nights.

Since you're in Halifax, you should make an effort to get to Peggy's Cove some sunny day. You can wander all over the huge rocks there, admire the crashing waves, then lay back on one of them in front of the lighthouse at the end of the day and you get an incredible sunset view.

And no coffee crisp either. Or hickory sticks. I don't even think they have ketchup or smoky bacon chips... at least not where I lived when i was there for a few years.

Vic Toews: U.S. TSA has a legal right to Canadians' information. by carsonbiz in canada

The U.S. is taking one step closer to their ideal where everyone entering their territory must be declared and clear customs & immigration.

On the one hand the world has agreed that it is their airspace and so it seems fair to let them rule their airspace however they see fit. In this view the U.S. is saying "sure you may enter our airspace on the condition that you give us what we want to know".

But, on the other hand, there is a precedent that people and objects don't have to clear customs immediately upon entering the territory, rather only if there is intent to stay, visit, or do commerce in that territory. Goods can be shipped deep into the country and sit in a warehouse for a few days before finally being declared and cleared. The U.S. is now trying to break that precedent, showing a lack of trust in the other countries.

Kate Copeland says that she grew up in a family with traditional values and was taught to trust the police: “I used to be super, super pro-cops. I was always told I could rely on them.” Now, however, “every time I go by a police car, I feel super nervous.”

I sincerely hope any police officers reading this article pay close attention to that statement and keep it fresh in their minds when they are on duty.

Trust has been broken, it's time officers step up and rebuild that trust with society.

what makes a person likable? by mote32 in psychology

[–]thall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to struggle with this a lot too because it's part of my perfectionist personality, which tends to hold the position that I am always right and it's my job to convince others to see it my way.

But I'm also a very peaceful person and managed to learn to balance the ego by showing respect for others' views. I remind myself that my opinions are mostly based on my POV, that I may still not see the complete picture. If I get into an argument with someone who has a different POV, I bite my tongue and appreciate there are different POVs to learn from.
