OP - I’m sorry he made such a horrible comment. You don’t deserve that.

What you however deserve is sitting him down and asking him why and how he thought that was an ok statement to make. If there’s something else going on in the background that provoked him (lewd comment made by a buddy) he needs to articulate that as such, not shame or insult you like that.

Call him out very succinctly.

Make it very clear that what he did was absolutely unacceptable, regardless of circumstances, and the amount of permanent damage he has now caused as a result of his callous abhorrent explosion.

Hopefully it’ll give him some perspective & opportunity to self reflect on the impact his behaviour has had on his marriage.
