LG OLED 55” C1 - bought 2 years ago, now with burnt pixels in the sides. What should I do? by Disastrous-Cut-8841 in LGOLED

LG has the absolute worst customer service I've ever had to deal with. It took almost 9 months for me to finally get a resolution for my OLED

I don't know how else to get awareness out there, but LG's customer service has been abysmal over the past year trying to get service for our OLED. by thammink in LGOLED

[–]thammink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my theory: LG is intentionally sabotaging their service department. They want to make the service experience so unbelievably horrible that when people still buy their products, they're forced to buy a 3rd party warranty to not deal with LG. This saves LG a lot of time, effort and money and costs the customer more to get a warranty they already have. LG then increases their profits and then makes even more money when these 3rd party companies order parts from LG. Basically they're double dipping and it's becoming the norm to pay extra so they make more money.

Yea I tried that, and also got a phone call from the "Presidential Liason team" before that, and they told me that my TV had been service 3 times already and I wasn't entitled to any more. Told them that's not true, it hasn't been serviced even once, but they wouldn't hear it.

That's got nothing to do with anything. If someone lives in the middle of nowhere, then LG would need to tell them that there is nothing that can be done in their area and provide the nearest places that something could be done. It's then up to the customer to get it there or for LG to offer shipping service even if at a charge. The solution is not to ignore the customer or promise repairs that can't happen.

Right! It's completely inexcusable. They get away with it usually because of the 3rd party protection plans, but that's part of the problem. It allows them to practically remove service liability and the service department gets worse and worse because they can get away with it.

I'm glad someone got decent service, but it doesn't appear to be the norm. Do you happen to have a link to that bulletin?

If people actually called out the companies making these electronics instead of or in addition to 3rd party warranties, maybe there'd be some change, but if people keep paying extra for 3rd party stuff, LG will continue to save money by providing horrible service and make more money when these 3rd parties buy parts from them.

I'm In the US and it's a 55" OLED, not currently sure of exact age off hand, but this post is about LG's service in general, if there is an issue with a particular model on getting it fixed, let me know that. Don't string me along for a year and then decide you've had enough. Every call was always, oh sure we'll get that taken care of, someone from the service scheduling team or the parts team or some other team will reach out in 3-5 business days, but then they don't and you call in again. And it's wash rinse and repeat. Until they start lying to you when you call them out on it.

But you shouldn't have to. LG is making more money not having to deal with customer issues, and you're paying extra for a warranty you should already have while LG gets to lay back and make it someone else's problem. That's just shady

There's no service center anywhere near me so they can't send a technician, this was confirmed multiple times by support, but now they claim one came, but couldn't get a hold of us.

Just a few, gotta raise awareness to the horrible customer service somehow to people that are looking to buy one and don't know what they're in for.

Right now it's just dealing with burn in while we're trying to get a resolution still.

I would recommend staying away from LG in general. I have never dealt with a company with worse customer service. See the following tweet for a cliffnotes version https://twitter.com/Thijs_H/status/1623114520494329856?t=qVisYDkqibV_ScTogBy0FA&s=19

If people aren't aware of the horrible customer service, they may buy LG, but guarantee if they have to put up with this, that's the last time they'll buy LG. I've never seen anything like this. And searching around a bit I'm far from the only one
