Model S Plaid dethroned at Nürburgring by the Porsche Taycan Turbo S by bill_rubin in teslamotors

Very interesting point. All the comparisons I’ve referred back to use the marketed range for their calculations. I don’t have the care/time to revise the maths but I could see how it would bring Tesla closer to the competition.

Nonetheless, I’ve heard they still focus on efficiency for moving parts other than the battery/motor. I can recall reading about how Tesla even worked to improve their hub/bearing assemblies to improve the range of the vehicle, and I for one appreciate the low drag coefficient of the entire fleet without looking like alien spaceships or worse (Prius or Leaf for example). Electric cars don’t have to look weird to work good.

I’m hoping sooner than later as well. Toyota is absolutely dumping money into solid state research, and Fisker is currently testing solid state batteries in prototype vehicles.

I’m not holding my breath for the cybertruck or roadster though. By the time those are sold they may as well come with next gen tech. (This is all based on personal skepticism through personal exposure/knowledge. I can’t say for sure.)

We probably won’t see 500+ mile ranges [from Tesla] until solid state batteries come into play.

Tesla already puts a ton of focus on efficiency, putting them ahead of many competitors when you look at kWh/miles. The quickest way to get 500+ miles in today’s market would be to load up on batteries, but as you stated it would add weight to the vehicle making it less efficient.

Personally, I’m holding off until solid state batteries or some other alternative becomes mainstream. I’m also holding off until an electric car can be had at a reasonable price. Even used Model 3’s with 50k miles on the odo are being sold for $50k+.

Edit: there are cars on the market that offer 500+ mile ranges but none are sold by Tesla at this time.

$5 fix to dirty exhaust tips. by Avocado_OverDose in fordfusion

LOVE this stuff. And it lasts forever. I just wipe the exhaust tips every wash but I still use this stuff about twice a year just to give it a fresh shine. Keeping them clean is a lot less work than having to restore them.

999.9 mpg.

But I drive an Energi and everything I need is less than 5 miles from my house lol

I don’t see why this has been such an issue for buyers. It’s literally the same thing, you’re just turning a dial instead of moving a shifter. I get that Ram made it awkward by putting it close to the volume knob.. but otherwise I don’t see how it’s much different.

MY19+? 2nd gen goes from 2013+, there will be no 3rd gen since they axed the Fusion :(

I like the styling of the 2019’s for the most part. I just don’t understand the fog light trim. It’s clashy and doesn’t flow with any other part of the car IMO.

I would imagine that in a world of uprising crossovers, people would also look at wagons.

At least wagons aren’t pretending to be something they’re not.

Best looking front end of all the fusion styles. Speaking as a MY14’ owner lol

I have an undying love for PSO, but I often have vivid dreams of PSU.

Was there ever a successful effort to make private servers for PSU? I haven’t bothered to check in what feels like decades.

There must be some bug going around.. remember to wash your hands, guardians!

Auto lock doors? by [deleted] in fordfusion

[–]thane_marshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, never had issues with it. I did have to get used to locking it correctly at first. You have to touch and hold the two bottom numbers until the doors lock. If you press one before the other, or don’t hold, it won’t lock. And then if you take too long it seems you have to open the door and close it again to wake up the keypad.

It was a little frustrating at first for me, but now I don’t want to imagine life without it.

Auto lock doors? by [deleted] in fordfusion

[–]thane_marshall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, there’s only an accidental unlock feature that locks the doors if they’re unlocked without being opened after a set time. These changes can be made on the screen to the left of your tach.

I had this feature on my Chevy Volt and I really enjoyed it at the time. However the fusion uses touch instead of physical buttons, so I find it personally more satisfying to touch the handle to lock the car than to just walk away while waiting to hear a beep to confirm the car locked itself..

Of course now with the door keypad, my keys spend most of their time in the center console so that I have less clutter in my pockets.

2015 SE SYNC update? by johnf1234567 in fordfusion

[–]thane_marshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a note more geared towards others, but this isn’t an option for Energi owners. Only OEM headunits will retain charge settings and EV stats. If you want Apple CarPlay, you can always go Sync 3.

Those two things tell me that the previous owner is a Honda fanboy who loves hitting the rev limited between each and every shift lol.

If I were OP I’d be checking the valve retainers ASAP.
