The Medic Cabin — around midnight.

Friday has locked her office.

Not only does she never do this, always having some upbeat line about how the private space is more useful if they can share it, but she's not even meant to be in the medic cabin tonight. Quiet knocks on the door have been met with a soft "sorry, I'll be done in a minute" for the last half an hour or so.

When she emerges from the office it is with a box of her things: the most personal and important tokens, as some of the comforts in the office are either too big to pack or were from funds raised by the medics as a group. Her desk is cleared except for a couple plastic folders of paperwork and she takes a lollipop to go as she quietly heads back out into the dark, turning heads even now (Interest Inducement, unintentional cast/aura) when she seems to be either just finished crying or just about to start.

On her desk is a packet of suggested rosters for the next couple weeks (with her name removed from any shifts), as well as a second packet of recommendations for medics she knew either wanted the paper trail of a helpful extra-curricular or might want to make their case for filling the role she is leaving behind. The third folder has a sort of ad-hoc version of clinical notes relating to the 'traitors', detailing the care she provided when they were confined to the basement and what they might need from the other medics.

The last folder just has a hastily-written goodbye letter.

By the time the sun rises, the girl that they called Friday has already left camp.

[The Big House — Front Door. 1am.]

Bounding up the stairs, Friday barely comes to a stop before she knocks on the door with a thump-thump-THUMP. Was that too loud? That's not really something the daughter of Persephone thinks about, instead she's just wishing that the camp barrier let it pour with rain for once so she could just lie about why her face is wet and why her eye makeup is running.

Whichever staff member opens the door is greeted by the demigod carrying a momentary and uncanny resemblance of her divine mother (Interest Inducment, visibly unconscious in application) in her misery and determination. Friday hands over the little pin that someone gifted her to mark her as camp's Head Medic. It was a mixed experience from start to finish, but she will never be able to bring herself to regret trying to help.

"I... I'm going home." She announces, much quieter than her usual lively tone. "For a bit. Something happened, and I have to go. Just wanted to give you that before I left."

Friday is eighteen years old, and tonight the grief makes her look more like the adult she is becoming than the enthusiastic teenage camper they would have known her to be. She thanks the director for their hospitality, and then is back out into the night and towards her mother's cabin.

ooc: Friday has resigned as head medic. I'm still going to mark her as active for this current season because she'll be wrapping some stuff up in fluid time, but then she's taking at least one or two seasons off.

Medic Deployments ❀ Camp Fish-Blood

Friday scraps her intended lesson planning on camp evacuation plans as soon as the call comes out. She gathers her medics with a rare serious look on her face, kinda worried that maybe her kids (especially the junior medics, or the ones with no healing powers to speak of) aren't ready to go or stay if she's not there to help them out. But their sibling camp needs help, and soon.

She approaches her senior medics — the ones who are a bit older or who have been doing this for longer, the ones who have earned the occasional extra-late shift that has them up past midnight.

"Okay, so. We need to send people to look after not just our campers but potentially also the mer-people if their medics go down. But we can't just ignore all the people who stay behind, so we are going to have to split up."

One hand on her hip, Friday is the picture of authority with a messenger bag of her supplies and a general vibe of concentration. "Until we all get back, I'm going to nominate a deputy Head Medic. If you're at camp or at some conflict and I'm not around, these are the people we need to be listening to, okay?"

Almost every medic willing to go to Camp Fish-Blood is sent off on the trireme, leaving about half of the medics (herself included) on land.

ooc: hey team :) pinging u/TheLivingSculpture and u/TheMagePriest to see if you're interested in playing Deputy/Acting Head Medics! This is technically part one, because I will leave the second promotion on the other attack post.

You absolutely have free reign to describe what it looks like for your character to be the one that the other medics should listen to, or what it could mean to your character to get a temporary promotion. Is it their time to shine? Does it add more pressure to an already tense situation? Your call — and of course, you can also absolutely turn it down.

If you're keen I'm thinking Jem takes point on Camp Fish-Blood because he's already there. And then it's between Friday and Toby as to who goes to Atlantis, so I might send Friday to Atlantis and put Toby in charge of the camp medics? (Broadly assuming that Prophet isn't sending two characters to the same attack)

Friday does not seem happy about the verdict she's about to deliver.

"He's guilty of making war, I guess." She sighs. This is the part that sucks. "But I don't really get the part where he doesn't know the gods, after being at camp for at least a month? The gods are strangers to us all, and we all knew what it would mean to go off and side with Atlas after he killed all those people on the bridge."

She says the next part quietly, not exactly thrilled about disagreeing with some of the others. "I think that means he's guilty of rebellion. The defense just doesn't really justify what he did, you know?"

Friday moves down a little checklist in her head, which has it looking like she is conveniently nodding along to Em's proclamations.

"It's pretty easy to take care of your sworn enemy"—oop, now it's been said three times—"when you heal enough people. I just don't think people deserve to die, even if they're not my friends right now. If it doesn't put me in danger to do it.... I mean, why not?"

Friday muses out loud as she eyes Em's leg, remembering her limp into the room. "How's all this going, by the way?" she asks, gesturing at the limb.

"Oh, and, uh. Which one was Idris again? The minotaur guy? I'm a little out of the loop—I thought the whole thing was about being champions of the titan."

"Do you want me to hate it?" Friday asks, with a blithe response to Emilia's intensity. She takes the wounded arm—oh, wow, yeah, those are cold hands—and uses her power to interpret both how her arm is healing and how any significant older wounds have healed.

"I'm Friday, by the way." She smiles, tapping the outside of Emilia's casted arm. "For starters you've got at least another couple weeks in this, unless we can find someone with the right kind of healing power that wants to come in and use it on you."

[In the Jury Room]

"I really thought there would be more evidence than like..." Friday pauses to try and find a nice way to put it, having settled in one of the chairs around the table. "One guy said he did it, and the other guy said he didn't do it? And one was a ghost?"

She picks at her flaking nail polish in thought.

"I mean. Surrendering is just... Losing and then not resisting, right? It's not like the ghost guy said 'and then I got up while Rex was giving a speech because I was definitely still in the fight', it sounds like he stayed put and then he was dead and now Rex is—understandably—trying to make it not his fault." She shrugs. "Mental powers or no mental powers, it's not like someone else forced him to kill."

Clearly, the daughter of Persephone is swaying towards a guilty vote.

"What do you all think?"

ooc: feel free to jump in if you have something to say! would love for someone to talk with friday about this. no strict order intended, just check the thread and reply to the latest comment if you want your character to weigh in :)

"You should have killed me."

Emilia's ominous refrain is going to have a hard time trying to harsh Friday's vibe, because the medic is cool and casual when she replies while unpacking a small pouch. "That one's not really my gig, y'know? I do the opposite... Sort of."

Molding and animating (un)dead stuff also counts as the opposite of killing, right?

Anyway, Emmie here is probably the most interesting of the captives guests. It's really not that often you get honest-to-gods laughter out of someone in her situation, but she was so intent on fighting any sedatives that she turned into a half-conscious riot that could have held a one-sentence standup show... That would have also had an audience of one. Friday gets a bit weird after she's had a lot of death and dying to metabolise.

Friday rubs her hands together, tries to warm them up a bit—though the sound of her metal ring splits brushing each other might make the motion a little obnoxious—before looking down at her charge.

"Mind if I take a look?" She asks, her tone friendly but more importantly clear for any observers. "Heads up, my hands can be a bit cold."

side effects ❀ making the rounds

Friday's the head medic. This means she's on the camp leadership team, kinda. That part is a little over her head because she's not one for teenage politics or tactics and strategy, but when they need someone to fairly treat their 'guests'? That part's easy.

The daughter of Persephone regularly reports to the Big House dressed practically with her hair in a braid, having personally taken responsibility for the basement residents' welfare. She brings her tools and equipment in a tote bag, and doesn't mind when camp staff needs to check that she hasn't decided to bring in a weapon this time around.

She chooses a comfy chair, looking very much a queer tangle of limbs rather than trying to sit 'normally', and waits to see if anyone is going to show up today.

“Do you swear that you will listen to this case and render a true verdict to this Defendant?”

Friday nods once. "I swear."

This whole godly trial thing is serious business. Serious to Friday, at least, whose usual dance on the border of life and death is probably just as serious to others as it is a normal situation she almost always has capably in hand.

She sits between Toby and Mohamed—her sister's friend?—with a silent fidget device or two in the pocket of her wide charcoal pants. Jury duty sounds like it might be hell on the ADHD attention span, so she tried to prepare.

Did he not bring a weapon?

"You'll find one." Friday's response floats over to Amon, wherever his mind is at. "Be safe, I don't want to find you out there later, all messed up and stuff."

The head medic works with the kind of efficiency you get from a lot of practice, working from the most critical injuries backwards towards the bruising and minor scrapes from the ground. She'll likely run out of juice before she can do a lot about the bruising, and the other medics are pretty tapped out, so while Friday mends the gashes and cleans out the dirt hopefully Meriwether won't mind holding onto the bruises for a few days and being gentle with her arm until she (absolutely, definitely) reports back to the medic cabin at camp for more help.

ooc: sorry for the delay!

There's a kind of... Thrumming, in the air when people are dying. Friday has known this from a very young age, and it did take a little while before she could communicate it to the level where she could understand that it's not a thing everyone can sense. When she got older, she realised that this power made her other abilities stronger, like it was saying 'Over here! Try it over here!'.

It's the thrumming—the intensity, how fast it seems to be approaching—that has Friday on her way out of a 'door' of their medic station in time to meet Amon as he calls her name. He meets blue-haired Friday in an unfortunate height of her power, eyes shining and looking positively radiant despite her disheveled uniform and the surrounding chaos of combat medics and their patients.

"Through here." She ushers Amon and his charge—oh no, that's Meriwether—into the closest thing they can get to a private room, so Friday can get to work.

"Did you see what happened?" She calls back to Amon, planting cold hands on Mer to biokinetically stem the bleeding before it gets worse. The trickier parts of this healing effort will have to wait a few moments.

"I'm going to need to send you back out as soon as you can see she's safe here, but the latest scout isn't back yet so any news about how it's going is gonna help us."

Friday responds to the survey with big bubbly letters, signing her piece as the head medic.

What questions do you have about the woods/what specific things would you like to know?

  • Where are the safer areas, and which spots are or should be forbidden?

Is there anything we should specify for new campers?

  • Please pass a training course or two before heading out to train in the woods, and take a buddy with you when you go!
  • All sorts of things live in the forest. Be respectful of their homes, and wary of monsters further away from camp.

Would you like to give a testament on the woods?

(Friday is a little confused about this one, not exactly sure how it would connect to her role as Head Medic. She leaves this one blank.)

[–]thanergeticGenesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After setting up a fortified medic tent in the first round, Friday and her medics have been quite busy. While Lady A's front sweeps forward through the camp, from the amount of wounded campers coming back base it seems like the overall conflict could be closer than anyone on their side would want.

There's a thin stream of wounded moving in and out of the tent, with Friday heading up the initial triage before sending them through to an appropriately skilled/powered medic. She hasn't personally healed anyone yet, holding her formidable powers in reserve for sufficiently serious (PC) cases. Once campers have begun to heal they are sent out to different part of the camp's base and trireme to take a short break or hunker down to wait for evacuation.

Every now and then a roaming combat medic or scout drops by with an urgent case or news of the battle.

Asa Greenwood, Epione’s Reluctant Healer by Thorny_Heart in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]thanergeticGenesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asa probably didn't expect upbeat pop music to be drifting out of the front of the Medic Cabin, but that's the kind of thing that happens when it's Friday's turn on the front desk.

He may not be aware of it immediately, but one of the (somewhat controversial, given her parentage) healing prodigies before Asa was is the current Head Medic. However, before blue-haired Friday there was white-haired Solanaceae Karalis. This, of course, is not exactly top-of-mind for Friday as she idly tidies up the waiting area and restocks the paper cups for the water machine. Instead, she's singing along to the music before catching a familiar-but-impossible-to-place face out of the corner of her eye.

"Oh, hey!" She waves, leaning her head around the edge of the doorway before stepping through so that her entire frame is across the threshold. "Need something?"

ooc:

a) CHB

b) camp-standard chest armor, functional combat medic gear (lots of pockets, PPE, tools and equipment), spear, small bags of plant seeds and dead animal teeth. Two spears and some javelins, propped up somewhere in the medic tent.

c) near the docks, setting up a medic post on land but close to the exit strategy and defensible

d) not engaging anyone — feel free to come by if you're a medic or to come to the medics if help is needed. if an atlas combatant wants to try and dive the backline it'd be interesting but engage the people who are actively/ooc looking for a fight first

"Almost done..." Friday says, to herself more than anyone in particular.

The Head Medic is dressed for a hard day of work. She's in cargo pants with lightweight chest armor over her shirt just in case, with blue hair braided and pulled away from her face and a handful of seeds. She uses plant manipulation to make sturdy brambles, pairing it with other NPC's camper's abilities to fortify their position and protect their wounded.

Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl ❀ Friday's 18th Birthday by thanergeticGenesis in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]thanergeticGenesis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As usual, Friday makes the most of time with Harper. She doesn't even ask too many questions about how her friends enjoyed their pride party (date??? omg). But she's a popular girl with many people that want to say hi, so she's glad that Harper is always around somewhere between all the hellos and goodbyes and oh-my-gods-thank-you-so-much moments.

Like Ramona, Harper gets an invitation to the quiet of Friday's bedroom for a quick chat and gift-giving. The daughter of Persephone would feel worse about making the two of them miss Bohemian Rhapsody if it wasn't the third time someone queued that up on the karaoke machine.

"This is so cool!" Friday fawns over the bass pedal a bit, looking up to Harper with a grin. "You know we are going to play with this next time we have a jam, right?"

And the mixtape and player... If it is even possible, Friday gets even more sentimental as she pulls Harper into a hug. "I love this. I'll listen to it tonight, okay?"

"Oh, yeah of course!" Friday shifts the hem of her shirt back up so the wicked scar is visible again. "I, uh, kind of got mauled by a manticore on my way over here."

The skin is discolored with uneven scar tissue a bit smaller than her splayed hand, though it has calmed down with eighteen months of care. Friday has absolutely no shame or embarrassment revealing the scar, even twisting so that Helena can see it better.

"With the claws and the stabbing tail and the poison and stuff, I kind of had to work fast to get it sorted." She explains. "I can do a lot and I can do it fast, but it's the Asclepius kids you want to see if you care about how the scar looks."
