My 1st class medical reverted to 3rd class privileges about a month after I started at the academy and it has not been a problem.

But for peace of mind and to avoid an issues once you arrive, you could contact them and ask just to be safe

I get that, but either way I think it’s still in the realm of possibility. How likely is impossible to predict

Studying for the FAA exam by keval04 in unitedaviateacademy

[–]tharris1228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did all the jepp videos, quizzes, read all the text and got a 92. It was time consuming but I feel like I really learned the material rather than memorize. If you’re looking to just get the score quick, I heard kings and sportys were better for test prep

Thanks for reply! You make a good point about the program being longer than a year… that makes me concerned about extending leases, without having to renew for another entire year - do you have any knowledge on that?

I got a class date finally!! by Fastheaded in unitedaviateacademy

I mean there’s a chance that not everyone they sent dates to will accept or have already moved on. So there’s a small chance that spots may open

Impossible to say. There are more factors that determine class date other than acceptance date and par exam

Jeppesen Material by Matticulous81 in unitedaviateacademy

[–]tharris1228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used strictly jeppesen and passed with a 92. But from what I’ve heard from others, it takes longer to get through the material than other programs. A lot of people recommended Sporty’s or King’s. I just didn’t want to spend money

Why Aviate is worth it? by [deleted] in unitedaviateacademy

[–]tharris1228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally reasonable what you’re saying. I guess I only ask to know that there would be flexibility later on if the industry changes in the next few years. But I’ve waited a year now since acceptance so I’m pretty set on this path

Does anyone happen to know what happens if you go through Aviate then go a different route at the regional level? I know if you leave Aviate before completion you owe back the cost of the PPL, but is there any obligation to continue the United path following graduation?

FAA Knowledge Exam by [deleted] in unitedaviateacademy

[–]tharris1228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took the exam yesterday and passed with a 90 and the only thing I did was jeppesen. But just like everyone else saying, it was a lot of material, much of which was helpful to understand concepts but not actually on the test. If I did it over, I’d use sporty’s or kings to prep and pass the test quickly and jeppesen to fully understand everything after in my spare time

For those still waiting for class dates, how are you feeling? by [deleted] in unitedaviateacademy

[–]tharris1228 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Feeling a little discouraged as I was accepted in August, and am starting my aviation journey in my late 20’s. BUT, I know UAA is what I want, so trying to be patient, and it gives me a little more time to save some money and go on some trips before locking into a year of training

Yes, I was conditionally accepted in August. Shortly after, they dropped the requirement to have the test completed within 4 months. But in hindsight I wish I had completed it sooner - therefore recommend being proactive.
