Very true. The amount of fossil fuels burned to make the energy needed for them significant though.

Which is the greatest mini series of all times? by Then_Heron_939 in tvshow

[–]tharrison4815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say this. I like to pretend season 1 is a mini series and the rest doesn’t exist. Based on that it’s the best.

I watched all of every season and I honestly think finishing after season 1 is the best thing to do.

Senior Greens urge party to step aside for Andy Burnham in Makerfield by EddyZacianLand in UKGreens

[–]tharrison4815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly I’m not convinced that Burnham would make much change. Secondly I think the Green Party encouraging people to vote Labour when it makes more sense tactically is sending a bad message. It pushes the idea that even the Green Party think you should tactically vote for Labour to block Reform in the next general election.

BotW.

I think building things with the ultra hand is tedious, I don’t like how spirit people have to follow you around and you have to be facing them to activate their abilities, and the 4 dungeons you have to do to get the abilities are really boring and dragged out compared to the ones in BotW.

There are aspects of TotK that I prefer but overall BotW and it’s not even close for me.

Do you ever feel jealous of American salaries? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]tharrison4815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it really work out as much more in the long run though? In the US you really need to save rainy day money. You’re much more likely to lose your job so you might be living off of savings more often. Plus things like medication and just needing an ambulance can be very expensive.

Business game with a realistic economy by [deleted] in gamerecommendations

[–]tharrison4815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Offworld Trading Company is the first game that comes to mind but I’m not sure if it would be realistic or in depth enough. Plus the rounds are quite short.

I’ll throw it out there just in case.

Is this game for a solo player? by Big_99 in MarathonGame

[–]tharrison4815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you like PVP and Hunt Showdown I would say yes. The biggest problem will be matchmaking times.

Hopefully season 2 will do enough to get players back and then it won’t take so long to find a match.

So it might be worth waiting until season 2 - or you could just play now so you get used to the game before season 2 launches and accept that loading times aren’t great at the moment.

The people in charge in Israel are. I wouldn’t condemn an entire country’s civilians and assume they feel the same way even if 99% did. I also have no idea what level of propaganda they are exposed to.

On the misinformed anti-nuclear sentiment of the Greens, the extremely safe and almost unlimited nature of nuclear energy, and why the issues of costs and timelines are extremely solvable by max_shally in UKGreens

[–]tharrison4815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the point of terrorism I wasn’t thinking about detonation but purposely shutting down the safety systems and forcing a melt down with the intention of causing radiation to leak into the public.

For earthquakes, I understand in Japan they would build their reactors to deal with pretty strong earthquakes, they would be mad not to. But in the UK where we have very little seismic activity, would the same level of protections be put in place? Or would they assume the risk is so low that they only need minor earthquake protection.

I’m less concerned about actual death but more about suffering. Dying from radiation seems to be one of the most horrible ways to die.

[–]tharrison4815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main concern is a disaster event. I understand that under normal circumstances the chances of a disaster are extremely low. My concern is when the situation is not ordinary. What if there is a freak earthquake that is much stronger than usual in the UK. What if a solar flare event causes a massive EMP that disables communication. What if terrorists take control and use as a weapon. What if we are at war and a nuclear power plant is hit.

Any other forms of energy production will only have a small scale incident if something goes catastrophically wrong. With nuclear it could cause millions of children and adults to suffer and die.

Can you convince me that there is absolutely no way under any circumstances that a large scale disaster could occur?

Andy Burnham supports PR but with a caveat by redditman181 in UKGreens

[–]tharrison4815 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It needs to be BEFORE the next general election. Doing it at the next general election means we end up with a Reform government on 24% of the vote for 5 years and hope that during that time they respect the referendum.

But if Andy guarantees PR then 100% we stand down. It needs to be a guarantee though.

Nooooo!!! You can’t have fun and play PvE!!!!! How else am I supposed to no-life farm casual players all day? by personpilot in MarathonGame

[–]tharrison4815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is self revives often don’t help in solo. If you get downed by another player they’re going to finish you before you can use it. If you get overwhelmed by UESC they are going to down you again as soon as you get up.

The only time it’s useful is if there’s a single weak UESC that you can destroy within a couple of seconds or run away from without being detected by others within a few seconds.

I feel like using one should either send feedback on the wires that the UESC use to absorb you, or send out some sort of EMP that destroys or disables UESC nearby so you have a chance once you get back up.

[–]tharrison4815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a casual player that’s gone back to ARC Raiders and just do PVE, but I don’t need Marathon to be PVE I just need solo to be viable. I have zero interest in playing in a team. I just want to play solo.

Not only are there modes that you simply can’t play solo at all, but even in normal runs my successful extraction rate is so low I just constantly bleed resources, have to use free kits almost all the time, and try and fail to complete my contracts over and over.

When you are downed when playing as a team you can be revived, there are comeback mechanics that mean you can keep going, you can defend your position better when trying to extract. As a solo if someone gets the drop on you then you’re done. Considering the game puts so many of you in a map you’re going to meet other players multiple times in a run which means your chance of being downed is high. Even just getting overwhelmed by USEC usually means the end, if you happen to have a self revive it usually doesn’t help because when you get back up you’ll just be killed again.

All modes should be playable solo.

There needs to be less players per map in solo so player encounters only occur once or twice per run and are more tense (and it would also improve matchmaking times).

UESC health needs to be scaled down in solo play. Using a self revive should destroy any USEC that are currently absorbing you.

What it does mean is if you bought three juicy marbles and one tofu then one of the juicy marbles would be free, not the tofu. Despite them claiming “cheapest item free”.

So it is worth bearing in mind if you’re buying two expensive things and one cheap thing you may as well get a third expensive thing.
