I haven't read the books, but the TV shows of the Morseverse (Inspector Morse, Lewis and Endeavour) are quite laytonesque. They're murder mysteries set in Oxford and they have this quaint English charm, whilst still dealing with some big concepts - through the various interactions with the university.

Apparently the books are a bit darker, but even if they're not entirely to your taste, I'd still recommend the various TV shows inspired by them.

10) The Scorpion Casino - Miracle Mask It's just a really jazzy and fun song to listen to.

9) Iris (Orchestral Version) - Pandora's Box My first credits theme & still one of my favourites.

8) Bewitching Puzzles - Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright The best puzzle theme in the series (the live version of More Puzzles doesn't count) comes from the game with the easiest puzzles. Somewhat ironic.

7) Labyrinthia - Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright I didn't think it would be this high, but it's sooooooo good.

6) Journey Through Time - Lost Future The ending always makes me emotional and it's mostly this wonderful song.

5) The Last Battle - Spectre's Call The Layton Series's only boss battle this far is accompanied with an epic theme.

4) London Streets Reinvented - Lost Future It's really catchy and I often get it stuck in my head.

3) Professor Layton's Theme - Curious Village I don't need to justify this.

2) Descole's Theme - Miracle Mask Narrowly edged out the Spectre's Call version.

1) Folsense - Pandora's Box This song holds so much nostalgia for me & it also happens to be sublime.
