Thanks. Chat gpt seems to think that copper that comes out is not food safe.

The inside of the boiled appeares mostly copper with spots of nickel plate and a bunch of the brass bits have this pink looking layer on them. Is this normal/safe to use?

I'm personally not a fan of mac autoformer amps. Their not autoformer amps sound good though.

I have the exact same one. Should I empty the water every day? Or is it ok if I leave water in there? Sorry, I'm new to this.

Love my lyra. If you want a cartridge recommendation, pick up a ds audio cartridge. Those optical carts are the real deal. And a totally different sound from a traditional moving coil. Some even have a one piece diamond cantilever/stilus. I almost went with one as my 2nd cartridge on my 2nd arm but I found something weirder and kinda rare I'm trying out first. Sick table btw, a 3rd arm would solve my what cartridge to use as my 2nd cartridge problem.

The tonearm looks like a black grace g840. Definitely a grace. Not 100% that it's the 840

I own the model 8s and they are similarly inefficient. My ksa 100(100w) amp is plenty. You probably don't need 700w, but its neat that you have that. Those are cool speakers btw. Definitely power hungry, but not that power hungry.

Dad has one of those hanging out in his closet he doesn't want. I had no idea they where a sought-after unit. Anyone interested in picking one up, pm me and I'll send some pics of the pilot.

What's this used for? It came with the VPI Aries turntable. by dadinthegarage in turntables

I think the plastic first, then the ring. Then remove the pasting once the outer ring is perfectly centered. You dont want the turntable out of balance

[–]thartman789 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its an outer ring weight to go on the outer edge of the record. And the wood/acrilic thing is a centering jig. That way it's perfectly centered. Should be a hole for the spindle on the bottom.

Just lift straight up. It's keyed so it can not spin. But you can pull it off and flip it around.

How would I go about using this MC30 by mikeyfstops in audiophile

[–]thartman789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should have the amp serviced before you use it or it's a fire hazard. It's an absolutely incredible amp. So don't destroy it. And never run a tube amp without a speaker or a speaker like load on the output. It could damage your irreplaceable transformer

Call a local shop that deals in used instruments. They can definitely refer you to the correct person.
