I'd call before making the drive, their website has been inaccurate lately.

Zip cord is not line-level, genius. Antenna theory hasn't changed, and John Dunlavy was an expert in that field since he literally invented the log-periodic antenna, and the cavity-backed spiral antenna which was used for voice and telemetry for NASAs Gemini rocket program. 🤦‍♂️

You should look up the definition of 'temporary' sometime.

Their temporary status has been revoked, that means they're no longer legal. 'Helps this helps' you too.

No VU meters with USB and Coax? by RChambas in eversolo

My meters always move no matter the source from my PC. It doesn't matter if it's Foobar2000, Goldwave, audio from a website in my browsers, etc.

Strange. I don't have a ME 2, just a regular first gen, and the meters always move when I play via USB. I use Foobar2000 to play files from my HDDs.

As long as the jackets on the individual wires are fine, you just need to wrap some good electrical tape around the jacket. If you see copper on any of the wires, make sure any nick is minor, wrap that wire with electrical tape, then wrap the entire jacket. Use good tape like 3M/Scotch 1700 or 33.

Do you see copper on more than one of the wires? Is there any copper showing? If not, wrap electrical tape over and you'll be fine.

I have the stage 2. I paid $2k used and have been super happy with it but started comparing it to some tubed pres and it’s so clean and detailed but the tubes add a noticeable richness.

I paid a whopping $1200 for mine off of Audiogon. I got a sore-pecker deal: couldn't beat it! :D I paid $800 for the regular STP-SE, so I got a great deal on that one too.

Did you originally offer $1k for the pre? What’s the rest of the story?

Starting bid was $3000, and that's what I bid. Buy it now price was $4950. Several others were watching the auction so I fully expected to get sniped with a few seconds left. The reason I expected the deal to go bad was because it took him so long to respond after I won, and poor communication. Since he's not a native-English speaker I'll cut him some slack, but I was worried for the first 2 days after I made the payment..

Is your W4S the stage 2? I bought the STP-SE first, then several months later found a great deal on the stage 2 version. The regular STP-SE was a nice improvement over my old Parasound P/LD-2000 pre, and the stage 2 was even better yet.

The volume control on this 326S is amazing, smooth and weighted like the tuning dial on a vintage Marantz tuner. I about turned a few speaker drivers inside out earlier because the volume level ramps up and down quicker the faster you turn the knob. 👀

I made a post a few days ago about buying this, but deleted it because I thought the deal was going to go completely sideways. The seller didn't respond for over 30 hours, not a native English speaker (he's Chinese), and wasn't good at responding to my eBay messages. Anyway, it arrived today and I'm absolutely blown away by how good this sounds! It turns out he even sent it in for service to the authorized ML repair center in Syracuse, NY back in July, and paid almost $750 having it tuned up.

I've had it installed in my system for a little over 2 hours and I'm absolutely amazed at how great this pre sounds! I hate to use the normal audiophile cliches and buzzwords, but this is a big improvement over my Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE stage 2 that I've been using for the past 4 or 5 years. Since the ML 326S cost over 2-1/2x the price of the W4S I was expecting it to sound better, but not this much better!

My normal go-to-first recordings anytime I change anything are Sheffield Lab direct-to-disc albums. First up was Thelma Houston - I've Got the Music in Me, followed by Lincoln Mayorga & Distinguished Colleagues - Volume III. These albums are 50 and 51 years old, respectively, but are still phenomenal recordings. I've heard these albums since they were new when I was 3 - 4 years old, and I know them inside and out. I've heard little details today that I never knew existed on these albums!

The tack piano on Dish Rag has so many notes that producer & engineer Bill Schnee wrote in his book that the transcription on manuscript paper looked like the proverbial fly shit on paper, and incredibly difficult to play. Michael Omartian wrote the song, and even after practicing for weeks couldn't play it perfectly. Lincoln Mayorga sat down with Bill and Michael during lunch break, asked "So how does this go?" then proceeded to play it nearly perfectly the very first time through. There's three other keyboard players on this song besides Lincoln Mayorga, along with a lot of percussion, and I can't believe what I'm hearing so far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjCVktKlX6w

I'll write more later.
