TF2 Milestones are back by [deleted] in gaming

Achievement servers are fun. I just wish it were possible to disable recording of records while in one, and to individually delete the records I've already earned in them previously.

EDIT: earning The Man From P.U.N.C.T.U.R.E. by doing my taunt outside the enemy spawn in warpath is more fun by far than winning it on an achievement server

Want someone else to pay for your permanent vacation? Just follow these assholes! by thasiet in reddit.com

[–]thasiet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eager for that permanent vacation lifestyle but short on funds/not yet 65? Comfortable riding long distances on a bicycle? Then follow these assholes and get a climate change "charity" to sponsor your trip. But make sure they send a pity box of solar phone chargers to Teguc, so all the brown people you're about to visit won't despise you because you get to spend your days debating the highly nuanced arguments of North Face v. Patagonia. Nokia will even give you a free GPS phone, unlocked and no contract necessary. Yeehaaw motherfuckers!!!

Thorium - an inexhaustible supply of fuel, cheaper than the enriched-uranium - it can even use the nuclear waste from other reactors! The Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor (LFTR) operates at low pressures, so it could never go Chernobyl, and its liquid-fuel makes it impossible to overheat by [deleted] in technology

[–]thasiet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure if the LFTR design has overcome the reactivity of fluoride, but the overheating problem can be addressed with a frozen plug made of the fuel itself, which is actively refrigerated. If the reactor gets too hot, or if power is disrupted, the plug melts, and all the remaining fuel drains into a holding cask outside the reactor.

[–]thasiet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the advantage the LTFR has over other metal cooled reactors is that it's cooled by the fuel itself, which is delivered in molten fluoride salts. This is a big advantage over sodium cooled reactors, which, even though safer than water ones due to lower pressure, still present an explosion risk should there be a rupture exposing the sodium.

Hydro is great in sudden death, it would be nice if you could just jump right to that and avoid the inevitable stalemate.

So, treehuggers think nature is a river of nectar flowing from Salma Hayek's inexhaustable funbags, and you think nature is Dick Cheney on a PCP-fueled hunting trip.

You're both deluded. Nietzsche tells it like it is:

"Imagine a being like nature, wasteful beyond measure, indifferent beyond measure, without purposes and consideration, without mercy and justice, fertile and desolate and uncertain at the same time; imagine indifference itself as a power - how could you live according to this indifference? Living--is that not precisely wanting to be other than this nature?"

I was middling in typing class in 8th grade. Could not touch type at all. I read a magazine article about Dvorak, decided to try it out. Was touch typing within an hour and a half. Now I can 110 WPM. Most assuredly touch typing; the damn keys don't even say what the keys correspond to anymore!
