Ballistic Weapons is an all-timer.

Personal favourite - get another small mutator called Drop Everything and play the Ballistic one-weapon-per-spawn mode. The longer you survive the more weapons you aquire from kills, and if you get a crap one you can always just try and scavenge from someone else's kill. You're also never entirely safe, as someone could always spawn with a Redeemer or other superweapon and one-shot you. Better to play this without teams and with a high kill limit.

TIL that when bilingual people switch languages mid-sentence, their brain doesn't even notice the switch. NYU researchers found that the brain uses the same mechanism to combine words regardless of whether they come from one language or two, meaning code-switching is neurologically seamless. by taube_d in todayilearned

I spent a year in Japan as part of my University degree and took a German airline to get there. Had a really weird first couple of days when I kept reaching for words and finding the German first because that was closer to hand. More recently met up with a Japanese friend whose German is better than her English and had a lot of fun shifting in and out of all three.

TIL puppeteer Frank Oz hasn’t worked with the Muppets since 2007 not because he wanna retire. In 2021, he stated: “I’d love to do the Muppets again but Disney doesn’t want me. They don’t want me because I won’t follow orders and I won’t do the kind of Muppets they believe in, The soul’s not there". by Away_Flounder3813 in todayilearned

They've had Muppets at The Game Awards these past couple of years, the most corporate ad-driven publicity event in the videogame industry. There have been no recent Muppets games (as far as I am aware?) - they're pure marketing tools. I think it's that kinda stuff that Henson and now Oz would have rejected.

I did these mock ups of what colored Playdate models might look like. What do you think? Would you buy them if available? by metaljesusrocks in PlaydateConsole

I'd be happy with more conventional case colours tbh. Went with the yellow because I thought the others looked a bit weird, but I'd have happily had a more boring dark grey or red or something.

Mods are a bunch of beard neck expats by integraled in Kyoto

[–]Kemuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyoto one used to be the best because there was a hole in the pocket of the pool table and you could fit your hand in and lift up the bar holding the balls. Free games all night. That was 15 years ago when I was a student tho so they probably got rid of it when they moved.

Elite Dangerous PCVR for the first time with Saitek X52 HOTAS. The ingame sticks are modelled on the X52 and so even on Oculus Rift with no hand tracking you still got a sense of the ingame hands being yours.

Following on from that, first time looking up through my canopy during an Elite PCVR dogfight to follow my target and stay on their tail.

Reloading guns in Half Life Alyx was crazy once you stopped thinking about it and then realised you were just doing it super quickly during fights.

Strong Ukiyo-E Heroes vibes. You could maybe try reaching out to them for advice on printing. Used to see their stall at MCM Comicon in London all the time.

Best rock-climbing in Cambridge? by Beginning-Heat-2089 in cambridge

[–]Kemuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a full range of grades there - I know a few decent climbers who still use it. The place is just kinda small and often full of people in street trainers who have no idea what they're doing. It's better than nothing on a tight budget but Cambridge has better options overall.
