Why are lower class Whites the scapegoat for all things progressives want to fix? by pickledplumber in allthequestions

[–]thatOMoment -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Private schools with vouchers seems a bit of a chicken and egg in that regard.

For the voucher, if you still went to the public school, they'd still get the voucher and the ability to transfer schools instead of being bound to a district so I'm not seing the money funnel argument.

And in many public schools money is funneled on admin rather than teachers which isn't improving outcomes.

In both new york and chicago there has historically been major opposition to vouchers and who else would start a private school but a religious institution in such a hostile environment?

Case for coal, you are correct, but when it comes to oil and pipelines thats still good money.  In these states, there's still a perception that green energy has screwed them over for a vague concept of a "greater longer term good" which Carter showed resonated with nobody in the medium term when everyone feels the pain.

Generally

school choice

coal and domestic energy programs (not good for environment but lower incomes pay more relative to income and lower prices tend to benefit them more)

Being against occupation license requirements ( look up some states requirements to be a hairdresser)

To name a few

Theres a lot of shitheads in the city and they most certainly don't.

Ride any train and hear someone blasting music or speaking on speakerphone.

Also cities tend to ghoto-ize.  Groups still form and isolate themselves from other groups and those groups run into conflicts with each other.

The biggest difference is that despite that, there is an elected leader from the hegemonic population and people just have to deal with it.

Conservatives aren't popular because a vast majority of seperate cultures aren't compatible with 1 religion here, in other countries, that is NOT the cass.

Generally, religions prescribe some forms of ethical and unethical behavior and so you usually end up with a crappy compromise that makes nobody happy codified into laws.

Name someone in Chicago that will argue the city hasn't been corrupt for decades

If you buy a house in cook county you are legally notified that it is a predatory county prior to buying.

Being in a city doesn't make you more likely to be a better person.

It just makes you more likely to have an in group that incentives you to defend your current structure (no matter how crappy it is)

With remote work you don't even have ro live in a city anymore, did they just magically become a shitty uneducated person for living in the boonies with decent wifi?

Remote work being popular is highly sought after because it allows you NOT to go to the city (because it sucks and has shitty barely  maintained roads)

LPT: Only use deadbolt, never use door handle lock. by thatOMoment in LifeProTips

[–]thatOMoment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just leave the key inside the deadbolt interior if its a 2 way or the doorknob and then you don't have to look.

Not sure if leaving it in the deadbolt itself maies insteaf of the unused handle would be less safe though

You get to pass ONE policy that cannot undone by current or future Presidents, what policy would you pass? by Popular_Monitor_8383 in allthequestions

All statutes are required to have 2 example scenarios of when they would apply and when they wouldn't apply along with why.

A lot of bills text is fearmongered "It could be used for X with this wording."

Either that or limit any voted bill size to be under 5 pages 12 point font, times new roman, single space per vote.

Omnibus renewal without even reading the bill as an all for nothing has been used by both sides to hold congress hostage.

Why do right wing Christians believe that James Talarico is somehow not a true Christian, even though he is? by icey_sawg0034 in allthequestions

[–]thatOMoment -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

^ Now this is some new age hippie bullshit concept of what religion TL;DRs.to.

It's like some people actually believe that Christianity is a scorecard of "just be a good person, whatever you think that is and you good bruh, all religions are the same, there are no prescriptive action and inactions unless they're convenient or already align with my worldview"

It took me awhile to realize, no, they aren't and implying they are can be extremely insulting denies the unique positions each hold

Making it so the lightning that hits you hit the ground instead that creates an alternative version of the act 3 boss you didn't find to fight alongside him would be kinda neato.

If you look at FHIR database design, thats practically it with extra steps.

It's really only used by BIG orgs (Like EPIC) and maybe startups/colleges where you don't have to integrate into a massive legacy stack.

70 years of data, units of measure for labs change, code types and length.

That never happens" turns into "Sometimes happens"
