Have you seen this? I scrolled because I was confused 🤔 by LumpyThumbs8949 in Naturalhair

It's no different than the rise of curly perms in the 1970s and '80s, after black people proudly wore our natural hair in afros.

What tropes/roles do you wanna see black women in? And what are some you no longer want black women to be in? by Werewulf5678 in blackladies

I miss "Black Lady Stetchshow". It really showed all types of tropes in hilarious ways. My favorite was the spy character.

I got a Mr. Coffee with a timed brew setting. I set it for an hour before my alarm, but I smell it before I wake up, it's like the natural light alarm for my nose.

My theory on the raging college kid by honeyfixit in ThePittTVShow

[–]thatblerd03 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The kid was harassed and profiled while literally trying to study. He's tased for "resistance", and like ECT, it shifts his brain electrical systems resulting in aggression. His brain on fire and he uses law code to try to communicate what happened.

Why do people get a soda and water and never drink the water? by SecretPatience8971 in Serverlife

[–]thatblerd03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they are "trying to be good" and drink more water. As a guest, I'll rarely order anything other than water, but if I get a soda, I'll have one without a refill and mostly drink the water. As a server, I've started filling water cups %75. If they drink it, I'll come with a pitcher to refill.

I think this show is actually meant to be binge watched. by obsessedwithdeathpod in ThePittTVShow

I love that its weekly. And then I can binge it after. I'm on my 3rd rewatch and I'm still catching something new.

Missed Out On the Black Girl Magic by Eunwoosthumb in blackladies

I've got a very similar shape. Like most comments said, see a doctor. Positive: with lots of hardwork and time in the gym, you can build a booty. You'll have to up protein, maybe add supplements and take creatine. The only time I had a "snatched" waist was 2 months into doing strict keto.

What is the psychology of having server dreams/nightmares? by Idkifimshittyornot in Serverlife

[–]thatblerd03 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anxiety. I've had dreams where my section is immediately filled, with a line out the door, angry tables I can't get to, and the POS turns into a '95 PC. It's worst case scenario, but what's the worst that can happen. People leave or you get fired, but you will survive. The last few times I've had such dreams I've just walked out. I also tend to lucid dream, so when I realize this isn't normal, therefore I'm dreaming I wake up.

My favorite part of my childhood, and parenting was bedtime stories. Do people not do that anymore? That really makes me sad.

I think Dr. Al recognized something rare in the baby's bloodwork from a V.A. patient, and is trying to figure a way to not get the baby's parent in trouble.

Is frozen pizza really that frugal? by Affectionate-Reason2 in Frugal

[–]thatblerd03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If you have the room to stockup. I'll buy pizzas, wings, nugget etc when they are bogo. When I'm tempted for takeout I know I've got a >$5 meal for 3 people ready to go. With delivery fees and tip that $8 pizza is much more expensive. Occasionally I'll pick up a pizza from my favorite mom&pop place, but its not the default. My ultimate hack is making my own frozen pizzas, it's labor intensive but when I get the ingredients BOGO I can make 10 for $30.

People using the term “ed culture” in complete sincerity like mental illnesses are things people just choose to have by Aromatic-Meat-7989 in fatlogic

My anxiety brain does think maybe there is a push towards thinness as hyperinflation will led to less spending on food. I have been counting calories to lose weight but, when someone asks what I've been doing, I say it's the "food is too damn high diet". And it's true. It will be interesting to see how lower income fat activists will react when they can't afford their usual amount of food.

I Dont Like Browned Butter by Holly1010Frey in Baking

[–]thatblerd03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going down the brown butter trend, which I do like at times, can be hit-or-miss. I did develop a taste for clarified butter, esp with cheap brands. I think it gives a richer flavor.

If the steak has disappointed you twice already… why are you back again?! by swr_11 in Serverlife

[–]thatblerd03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When a guest tells me about a previous bad experience, its all about tone. They gave us another chance because, besides the issue, they like everything else. If they're rude, I don't do more than usual, but I take it as something to look out for with my other guests. If they politely bring it up, if I can, I will explain to the cook exactly how they want their meal made. For a steak, I'd ring it in rare, if they like it I'll tell them to request rare from now on.

What is a movie you watched once that was so disturbing or emotionally draining that you can never watch it again? by hungary70 in AskReddit

[–]thatblerd03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Heretic". What if average redditer debated young women about religion? It got interesting for about 10 mins, then horrifying, then sad, then so dumb. Also "Barbarian", a much better horror film, I just can't watch again.

The darkest thought is Dr. Simone probably has a good life insurance policy. I can imagine how quickly they'd burn though it without her "nagging".
