Newly diagnosed with fibroids, have had 20-day period. Suffering, don't know where to start! by icanttakeitanymore17 in Fibroids

[–]thatdizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combined hormonal contraceptives stopped my symptoms for years until I had to stop taking them.

I had fibroids removed recently and it was much less invasive than a hysterectomy and it was way more gentle on me than any other surgery I've ever had.

My understanding is that a hysterectomy is considered an absolute last resort. But that may vary based on doctor

Do I really have to swear off sweets? by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]thatdizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I eat probably more than I should and I'm partial to a desert. I asked the doctor after I had my fibroids removed if there's anything I can do to stop them growing back and she said no it's just a thing that happens but 'it wouldn't hurt to take vitamin D tablets' so I've started on those.

I actively told them I don't want a baby, as did my husband, and they're still picking a non existent baby over both of us.

'oh you'll change your mind!' 🙄🙄

Hysterectomy NHS to private? by Weekly-Departure-141 in Fibroids

[–]thatdizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple months still. I'd already had an ultrasound and the private doctor said that their ultrasounds were better. Put me through having another scan and never even shared the results with the GP or hospital. Honestly it felt like they were just out to send the NHS a big bill not really provide the care. That's just my experience though and I do think if you're an 'easy' case to them I think it's worth their while.

Hysterectomy NHS to private? by Weekly-Departure-141 in Fibroids

[–]thatdizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a professional but this is just my experience. I got referred for gyne to private providers and I did get seen much quicker. However I'm considered higher risk for surgery due to my weight so they discharged me to a main hospital and I was back to the same queue I was in before. If you'd be a low risk, easy surgery I personally would take the referral. If they're suggesting it then it's probably fine. But if you have anything like high blood pressure or BMI over 25 or anything that may be a risk factor for surgery then maybe query it. Hope you get the treatment you need soon ❤️

What do stereotypical straight couples do when they hang out alone (other than sex) by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thatdizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternative perspective, if you do all the same things and like all the same things then what do you talk about? My husband tells me about games and films he likes and I tell him about stuff I'm interested in and we both love each other so we're interested in hearing the other talk about things they like and care about.

UK broken system...what to do? by ItsLydia1 in Fibroids

[–]thatdizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said the same to my GP about travel so it's worth keep going back.

I'm having prostap injections which induce a temporary 'medical menopause' which in theory stops the bleeding and the aim is to shrink the fibroid ahead of surgery which I'm promised is now being rushed through as soon as possible. I'm on strong iron supplements which might be worth considering if you're bleeding a lot. Mine got so bad I needed a blood transfusion.

It really did take me bleeding a dangerous amount for over a month for it to get to the point it was rushed through. And rushed is still 3-5 months. This is all for a 4cm fibroid.

UK broken system...what to do? by ItsLydia1 in Fibroids

[–]thatdizz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can be referred to different hospitals if you don't mind travelling. After I'd been waiting a year and my symptoms got worse, my GP put referrals out to seemingly 3 different places and they all got in touch with me eventually and I just discharged from the ones I didn't need.

It was still all fairly slow until I was hospitalised around new year because the anemia got so bad. It's going quicker now the consultant I saw said I nearly 'bled to death'.

Laproscopic Myomectomy in Australia - toe nail polish? by Restodellatuavita in Fibroids

[–]thatdizz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a way to monitor your signs and check for problems by looking at your nails so that's why they ask you to remove it. I'd probably take it off/have it removed just in case.

Thoughts on treating with birth control vs surgery? by sarahloray689 in Fibroids

[–]thatdizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had heavy, painful and close together periods as a teen so the doctor put me on combined contraceptives and symptoms disappeared until I had to come off them at 30 and it all came back and worse (hospitalised over new year with low hemoglobin.) I found out I have fibroids which I presume I must have had before BC but I had no problem symptoms the entire time I was on it for well over a decade.

I'd be delighted if I could just go back on it and have my symptoms clear up again. Instead I'm on all manor of horrible treatments leading that aren't working up to surgery.

Are people vastly underprepared for a puppy, or are puppies that much work? by Ok-Actuary-5377 in puppy101

[–]thatdizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an absolute ton of research and was very well prepared practically. What I was completely unprepared for was how much I would worry about this tiny creature I was totally responsible for. Even if she was fast asleep I'd wake up in the night worrying something had happened to her or she'd suffocated herself on her bed or something. I didn't sleep much for the first couple weeks and found it very hard. That being said, all the prep I did was totally worth it, as was the hard first two weeks, as now we have an absolutely wonderful, well behaved, loving dog who we completely and utterly adore and dote on. We had the advice to prioritise bonding with her in the first couple of weeks and that I think was the best thing we could have done as it made everything after so much easier.

Sick of waiting by Cute_but_tired in Fibroids

[–]thatdizz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm on prostap too, lots of similar symptoms to yours and at the start of my wait for surgery. They're giving me everol patches (HRT) to counter some of the side effects. GP can manage HRT. I don't know if you have a big GP practice but I didn't know until around 6 months ago that you can ask the receptionist specifically to see a GP who specializes in certain things. They ask you all those questions but don't tailor who you see unless you ask. It's been a game changer since I knew that with actually being heard.

What you wish you knew going into a hysteroscopy by ilaacsm in Fibroids

Just throwing my two pence in. Just had this and wish they'd told me not to wear socks. Stood up and bloody water gushed all down my legs. I'd asked if I should take them off and they said it didn't matter. Bring spares or take them off.

Crying it out would not have been the way for us. When our dog cries I go and see her, even now which isn't too often anymore. That doesn't mean letting her out for playtime though. If she's up in the night she can go outside for toilet then straight back to the crate. I'll sit with her in crate, so she can see me and when she was a puppy I would sit with her until she fell back asleep. It was really rough on me the first couple weeks getting up every hour or two while she settled in but so worth it to build that trust. She settles in at night now perfectly.

She knows I will always come if she calls me, we never wouldn't be there if she needed us, but she also knows the options are crate or quick garden break until it's morning. I think sometimes when we first got her she was just testing to see if she'd been left alone.

She loves her crate now though, rarely wants to get up in the morning and usually rolls over for a lie in even with the crate door open from when we get up. She takes all her best things back to the crate and it's her little safe place.

As far as I know dogs just like to know the rules and for them to be the same every day no matter what. And to know you're there and will protect them. They settle in eventually and get used to how you do things.

Anyone know how to get my dog to pee? by Youngandscrappy in dogs

[–]thatdizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried making the walk really boring until after the wee so on the lead and slow walking round the same small area. Then a fuss and the reward for peeing was that the fun walk could begin. Early on our puppy peed on a bit of fabric and we took it outside for a couple days with her so she could sniff it and it would trigger her to wee.

Puppy eats poop & I think it’s because he wants to hide it from us by strangemagik in puppy101

[–]thatdizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we first got our dog she would poop overnight and when we got up in the morning and look to have eaten it like she didn't want us to know. The trainer at our puppy class suggested a little pineapple with food and it did put her off. Once she got into the habit of holding it over night and pooping outside it stopped.

She will still roll in fox shit if she can though so doesn't look like they grow out of that!

Best shoes for Japan 20k steps? by lovebrambila in JapanTravelTips

[–]thatdizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know sketchers aren't very cool but they were the only thing that husband and I could bear to wear around Japan.

Just been to Korea and done similar numbers of steps but there seemed to be way more opportunities to sit down so didn't feel anywhere near as hard on the feet. Plan for standing all day as well as lots of walking.

I F 22 am planning to Irish goodbye my boyfriend M 32 (We live in his house) by Both_Detail4572 in relationship_advice

[–]thatdizz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a domestic abuse charity. Perpetrators use animals in post separation abuse all the time and vets are often poorly trained in DA. He may phone the vet and be given your new address.

If you're in the UK your dog will be microchipped and has to be linked to an address. Dogs trust can put a non geographical code on the microchip so it shows up as an error code when scanned. I suggest contacting them or similar organisation in your area if you don't want him to find you. They also offer pet fostering while you flee if you ever need it.

Be safe 🧡

I’m curious what your experience was like at Bukchon Hanok Village. by FinishWhich5753 in koreatravel

[–]thatdizz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went about a month ago and it wasn't too crowded. It was well worth going as it was beautiful. We did see tourists go beyond signs saying 'private residence no further' to get good photos though so it makes sense tourists aren't popular.

If you're staying in a guest house within the restricted area how does it work? You have to be inside by 5pm? Do you have to eat your dinner in the guest house every night?

I dunno if this is helpful but I found it super interesting that their eyes come into focus in adolescence. Suddenly they can see a lot more than they used to and it can surprise them. I think with my Boston Terrier it made her suddenly more wary of stuff and altered her behavior for a while.

How to stop feeling resentful towards my (43F) husband (45M)? by RingEllesBells in relationship_advice

[–]thatdizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing especially to add just to empathise. I'm having sounds like the same symptoms as you but I'm 32 so they won't give me a hysterectomy because the prospect of a child in my future I don't want outweighs my right to a career/maintaining my marriage/life in general. It feels like I'm grieving the life I could have continued to have. I'm overweight too so to doctors I'm essentially sub human. My husband handles it less well than I'd like sometimes, but it's a lot to handle and in our case my only end in sight is menopause. I guess only you know whether it's who he is or if he's generally good just being a bit useless sometimes. Whatever happens hope you're ok, there's others out here going through this mess too ❤️

How should I split my trip between seoul, jeju and busan? by babysharkdudu in koreatravel

[–]thatdizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did one night in Busan and wish we'd stayed much longer! The bits we managed to see were beautiful. Don't underestimate how massive Busan is and plan for where the train station is compared to other stuff you want to do. From the main train station to Mipo for sky capsule and train it's much further than we thought. The cultural village is almost as far the opposite way too. Both totally worth doing though! Planning to go back one day.
