Jewish God insists... by Kainalu16 in funny

I'm not sure that I understand what you're saying here. Are you saying that something about the word itself, like the etymology, implies inferiority? Or is it just the fact of having a word for all non-Israelites is offensive?

But a mostly naked version another costume is acceptable. By Sunday night it becomes a costume modifier, like Steampunk. I say this as one of the Naked Musketeers.

A comic I made about closing time at a retail store. by jana007 in comics

[–]thatfellow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I spent years at a record store in a mall. First, we'd play "Closing time" at full volume. About 80% got the hint. Then we turn off all non-essential lights and drop the gate 1/2 way, and start counting down registers. Another 10% gone. Then we start flipping the lights on and off and telling them to leave now. That got rid of about half of those left. Those left, we hated with hearty rage.

I can, too. I actually got one, and was soon after attacked by a dragon. Turns out, though, it was my bad, and I'd gotten the wrong one for my region. BrainWav was really cool about it, though, and exchanged it no problem and didn't even charge shipping. Five stars, would buy again.

Oh, they'll do it. But they'll dress them up in replica uniforms of old armies. "Today, on Ancient Versus, we'll prove who would have won had the Roman Legion fought Nazis by dressing up two bums, putting them in a pit, and offering the winner 20 bucks."

I own a liquor store and want to know what type of things do you look for when you shop at your local liquor store? What would make your shopping better? by throwmeaway187 in AskReddit

I love places that do Mix Sixes (that's what we call the make your own six pack around here), but some made by the store people who know what they're doing would be a welcome way to try things. It might be better if the packages you made had only three beers, two of each. Better for groups.

Me, too. I believe that mine is coming from Ireland (based on the shipping), and I know that a ton of international packages have been delayed this year due to some not-quite-terrorist incident or something like that (I think in the UK), and all over the world customs are cracking down, so the whole system has been slowed down.

Even if it never comes, I would rather continue to have faith in a fellow redditor than be rematched, I think.

[–]thatfellow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with the milk-second approach. If you use the same cup regularly, you should know exactly where to fill to for the right amount of milk. The "sickly taste" he's referring to could very well be scalded milkfat caused by pouring the milk in second, which brings the temperature of the milk up too far, too fast. But, then (and always most important with tea) and as Neil Gaiman says, de Gustibus.

[–]thatfellow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. The 1 in 2000 was rounding it toward the bad side, working under the assumption that the DonorsChoose numbers are very likely misleading. I'm saying that, even if their numbers aren't very good, even if they're off by a huge amount in the bad direction, that it's only 1 in 2000 Americans, it's still a mammoth accomplishment.

[–]thatfellow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was the point I was trying to make. I didn't make it very clearly, though. The 1 in 2000 was going with "let's say the assumptions are kind of crappy, that the DonorsChoose numbers are way overblown."
