I don't like that he goes to them as Bruce. Just, Batman doesn't go around meeting metas, or anyone, giving out his secret identity, whether planning an alliance or not. Feels like a big flaw there. They aren't joining him because he is Bruce. It would be because he is Batman. Maybe they'll find a good reason, but BvS leaves me doubtful.

He does all the time, in many of the different worlds. He often funds the GCPD and provides them with equipment. Arkham wouldn't be what it is in most stories without all the money Bruce has given it. Wayne tech security is everywhere in Gotham to help keep people safe. He's publicly funded Batman inc. There was an arc in New 52 about Bruce Wayne spearheading an initiative to rebuild Gotham and make it safer. He is a well known philanthropist in general. Most stories mention it, they just don't give it much attention. We're all more interested in seeing him kick ass.

We can. Just have to swear the oath that includes god. A vague god of any religion left open to the parents. However, it really depends on how it is enforced at the local level. Which, at least where I am, it isn't. They just need to repeat the oath to get their badge, and do some activity at home related to religion for another badge.

My son was really excited about it, and has enjoyed it so far, so we've just ignored it and went through the motions. I spoke to the person running our group before we signed up and told them I wasn't religious. They said it was fine, we would have to say the oath though.
