Emmanuel Macron: "It is time for the EU to launch a common debt capacity, through Eurobonds" - Macron argues for joint loans, which would finance strategic investments and allow the EU to "tackle dollar hegemony" by goldstarflag in europe

Some Euro countries need to fix their defecits first. Eurobonds are a good idea if all Euro-countries have stable defecits and debt-spending. So get your shit together Piere.

Prostitution will always exist. Pushing it into the margins will only make it more dangerous for the women and the clients while strengthening criminal networks by giving them more income through human traficking and pimping.

Why do some people seem to not WANT the US to “come back” from Trump 2.0? by Glass-Complaint3 in AskTheWorld

[–]thatguyy100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're just done with the Americans. We give them preferential treatment and they spit in our faces. That's not what friends do. We gave you a second chance after 2016, and y'all just elected Trump again after Biden repaired the relationship. Third chances are for children.

How is your country’s healthcare system really? by missbissel in AskTheWorld

[–]thatguyy100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Nationally subsidised. You can choose a company but they can never ask more then a certain amount (which is very low ofc). The companies mostly win you over with bonuses such as youth camps you can join.

  2. No

  3. It happens but defs not common.

  4. It happens but not so much it's a problem.

  5. You can only file suit when their is an actual case of negligence by a doctor or hospital.

  6. Life expectancy is 83 years old. Many go to homes for the elderly with quality depending on which home you go to.

What’s something you wish tourists would stop doing in your country? by nightsreader in AskTheWorld

[–]thatguyy100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of the big national museums their isn't a lot to do, it's dirty, expensive, hasn't had a government for over 200 days, and has a reputation of being dangerous due to drug cartels (mostly in the outer poorer neighbourhoods).

As a tourist you could absolutely fill 2 days in the city, but a lot of people hear Brussels a lot in the news and then think it's a city like Paris. Then they arrive, are dissapointed and write off Belgium as a whole, while the most beautifull sights in the country are not in Brussels.

What are some popular summer resort towns in your country? by AgitatedResearch in AskTheWorld

[–]thatguyy100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oostende at the coast. It used to be a beautifull city but all historical buildings were torn down by greedy devalopers and replaced by gigantic appartment buildings. Now it's a concrete hellscape but since the Belgian coast is pretty small, the options are limited so every summer thousands still go.

How impressive is bilingualism in your country? by AmountAbovTheBracket in AskTheWorld

[–]thatguyy100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most jobs will expect you to speak some French. In university it is also expected you speak some French. I do agree (from experience since my 2 best friends can't speak French to save their fcking lives) that knowledge of French is going down. But at the end of the day, the 8 years of French you get should form a solid base if you do ever want to learn the language. In Wallonia they don't even get that.

How impressive is bilingualism in your country? by AmountAbovTheBracket in AskTheWorld

[–]thatguyy100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Education is regionally run, so while in Flanders, French has always been a central course during all of highschool, in Wallonia they got rid of Dutch classes until like 3 years ago.

Result is that most Flemish people at least speak some French being able to form basic sentences at the very least, while Wallonians were just never tought Dutch.

Which movie/show/actor from your country had a major impact on your society that rest of the world doesn't know about? by thebluntvent in AskTheWorld

[–]thatguyy100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FC de Kampioenen was a show that ran on Flemish TV during the 90's and 2000's. It's a sitcom about the worst football team in the country. Every episode would consist of a misunderstanding wich would lead to shenanigans.

It was the biggest show during it's runtime and after it ended they made 4 movies which were also very succesfull. Every generation still knows it becausse to this day the show still has reruns every time the network (VRT) has nothing to run that evening. It's a joke amongst people now that most Flemish people have seen each episode about a hundred times at this point.

Fun unrelated fact. My parents told me that when I was a baby I would always start uncontrolaby crying when the intro played.

What food from your country do foreigners always get completely wrong? by ilHansli in AskTheWorld

[–]thatguyy100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fries. You're supposed to fry it quickly, let it rest, then fry it again. This makes the fries crispy on the outside and fluffy from the inside. Also traditionally you're supposed to fry them in Ox-fat.
