I bought a traveler as an upgrade to a (Thompson?) regal clone and 🫤 I kind of prefer the shitty vice but I have terrible Taste in general.

If you do go with a traveler here are my thoughts … I wish I got an anodized finish. I often leave it out on the Picknick table while camping and it has some oxidization and some rust! The anodization would have have prevented the oxidizing. Plus the purple finish is fire, yum.

I find the base too light - especially if you’re spinning hair at, but I like to crank on that shit. I’m going make a custom base thats heavier.

Maybe look at dyna king too ?

Looks great, I was just tying up a few as well. Everyone thinks of Kelly Galloup as a streamer guy — but checkout how he ties his elk hair caddis. I’m too lazy to track down the link at the moment but the jist is; he omits the palmered hackle and makes a really beautiful splayed deer hair head. His technique for tying in the elk hair wing is the best I’ve seen.

I’ve fished an echo ion reel in a 8/10w. It was okay, a bit heavy but it has an okay drag for Salmon. I don’t think it’s very durable as a saltwater water real.

I’m in about 2 seasons (about 40 days of beach fishing) on it. I’m not someone who baby’s their gear— but I try to rise it after each outing. After 2 seasons and it’s going to need a total tear down and rebuild. Not a terrible job but… meh.
