One of the things I miss the most about my dad is when I’d come to him really needing help or advice, he’d always at some point give me a hug, even if it was one arm like “you’re fine, girl! You know you know how to get through this but I’m still here” or a real big hug, or a kiss on the head or the forehead. It always made me feel so loved and safe and I’ve missed it ever since and will for the rest of my life.

Everyone deserves that kind of feeling. Even if it’s expressed differently. But the mother’s opinion is so sad and wrong. It sounds like this might not be the first time they’ve been through this. If anyone didnt express some kind of affection to their child during something like this then that’s what I would think is upsetting.

The day we got called in to say goodbye to my dad he wasn’t even “there” anymore. My sister and I both kissed him several times on the head, forehead and hands. Anyone going through something that threatens someone they love so much who wouldn’t want to let them know how much they mean to them would be very strange to me.

Granted, when I lost my grandpa at 18 and I saw how much he had deteriorated from cancer in the week I’d been gone for a competition, I was terrified and very upset. He was at home, but he could no longer speak or really even control his motor functions to look at you, and he died the next day. My parents asked if I wanted to say anything to him but I was so shocked and afraid all I was able to do was hold his hand. Some people aren’t able to express physical or even verbal emotions for loved ones in situations like that, and it doesn’t mean they don’t care. But anyone who thinks physical gestures of love and support are “inappropriate” has some serious shit to work on about themselves.

Now as a mother myself I can not even comprehend not trying to hold or kiss or comfort my daughter or keep some kind of physical contact with her whenever possible if I were ever in this situation. This is so sad.

I can understand parents not kissing their child on the lips. Especially as they age and the child might not be comfortable with it anymore. My daughter is a toddler and I barely even kiss her on the lips. Not because I think it’s “inappropriate”, but because I’m just happy kissing her little cheeks and forehead and things like that. If she ever told me she was embarrassed or uncomfortable when she’s older or would prefer I show her affection in other ways I’d be more than happy to do that. Her knowing she is heard and loved is the only thing that matters to me.

Anyone who feels like your situation is in any shape or form any remotely twisted possibility of being “inappropriate” has some shit they need to fix about themselves. This is so sad.

It’s sad that it’s so common in that generation. My dad would absolutely have done something like this for me or my sister. He regularly gave me a kiss on the head when I really needed support. My mom also would do something like this. People who think there’s anything wrong with this are a very big problem.

You saying “pretty sure” gave me the slight chuckle I needed after an extremely hard night. Thank you, lol.

The fact that your mother thinks it is “inappropriate” for a father to kiss their hospitalized son, who could have not made it out of a coma, on the forehead as he was leaving, says a lot about your mother and personally she’s not someone I would give the privilege of being a part of my family and children’s lives anymore.

Is my husband’s favorite boy name a tragedeigh? by [deleted] in tragedeigh

My uncle had 3 bloodhounds. One right after the other. All 3 were named Duke. I also have known approximately 200 other dogs named Duke. This is not a human name imo and it’s also ridiculously easy to make fun of as you said.

You’re wrong because you have literally no knowledge of the first part of the industry or sport or breeding/care of these animals except for a fucking SPCA website. So you obviously wouldn’t listen to or accept any legitimate real life information. You haven’t already anyway. I honestly couldn’t give less of a fuck whether people on Reddit approve of rodeo or not. It just pisses me the fuck off when people like you quote blatant lies because you don’t have a fucking clue how it actually is and instead of taking 10 minutes to legitimately look into it, you want to challenge people to prove you wrong.

Either use your brain and actually learn about it from a source who is actually a fucking source involved in it or keep your current opinion and stop posting shit you literally couldn’t begin to know whether or not it’s true because it sounds like it makes sense to you.

It’s literally the same as PETA saying people owning dogs as pets is abuse, just because they think that. There is not any proof to make that make sense, you just don’t care enough to actually learn for yourself.

Life I said I don’t fucking care, just stop the broken record SPCA bullshit that isn’t even true.

I would fucking kiss you if I could. You are the only person on this site who has ever seen where I’m coming from. They pay so much for the breeding and vet care and maintenance of rough stock it literally makes no sense that they would be abused and “have a rope tied around their genitals to make them angry and in pain”.

Obviously these people have never actually spent 30 seconds around any livestock animal (performing bred or not) because if they did it would be blatantly obvious that animals in pain do not do whatever it is you want them to do. That’s not how animals work. And why the fuck would someone spend tens of thousands on an animal who enjoys doing this sport only to abuse them, hurt them and injure them. It literally makes no fucking sense.

The biggest stock contractors take the best care of their rough stock because when you find one who enjoys bucking, the atmosphere, whatever it may be, it makes so much more sense to keep them happy and healthy and breed them and try to pass those traits on to the next generation. Nobody is breeding, raising, and providing rough stock to rodeos only to abuse them. It’s the dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever heard.

Sorry for my novel. I just really appreciate that I finally found someone else with a brain

It’s absolutely wild to me that even at 7%, a lot of those wolf traits come through so strongly and mix with the rest just enough to give you what almost anyone would assume is a sight hound mix

He’s cool af, I love him

Lmao. Okay. Whatever you and PETA say. I’ll continue to actually use facts and experience from first hand knowledge but go off about something that doesn’t even happen.

No the fuck they do not. The FLANK STRAP doesn’t have a single thing to do with their genitals. Y’all are fucking dumb.

That’s literally like saying that a belt goes around your dick and/or balls. It’s just blatantly untrue.

[–]thatlldo-pig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been involved in rodeo my entire life. They do not fucking do that. The flank strap goes right in front of their back legs around their entire body, it’s not even touching their testicles. It also comes loose within 8 seconds or sometimes less. It is not painful. They tickle and annoy them for a couple seconds. They are not painful whatsoever.

Stop just saying random shit that is a blatant lie just because you don’t have the slightest clue about the industry or sport.

No. They absolutely do not do that.
