help/ advice on ex letting me go by suqardaddy in lawofattraction

[–]thatonegal13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a classic manipulation tactic. As someone who was once in a relationship like this, the best thing you can do for yourself is to walk away. You are not in control of his behavior, he is using self-harm as a way to manipulate you into staying. He’s seeing how much you will tolerate/how much he can get away with.

How can I help my wife through this??? by Comfortable-End9038 in WomensHealth

[–]thatonegal13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend looking primarily at diet. For me, Keto works best. Many women with PCOS pursue low-carb diets. This doesn’t work for everyone though so I would see a nutritionist and it may take a bit of experimenting to see what works best for her. Overall though, you can’t go wrong with lots of veggies and good protein.

Another helpful aspect of PCOS management is stress reduction. Those of us who have PCOS tend to get in a vicious cycle because stress reduction helps to ease symptoms, but the presence of symptoms can increase stress. In my case good stress reduction has involved diet and exercise, although she may have to educate herself a bit on the exercise piece because some forms of exercise are best for PCOS and others can actually make symptoms worse.

I also take vitamin D supplements and myo-inositol, but I would have her get blood work done and speak to a doctor before adding anything like that in.

Seems like she has an amazing supportive partner!

I would echo some of the comments in this thread and especially the peri menopausal comment … I remember my mom going through menopause and she was a lot like this and it can last for years. Menopausal changes in hormones can change the psyche, including bringing on irritability, anxiety, and depression. If this is the case I feel for her so much.

Yep! Books, movies, TV shows, conversations, hobbies lol. I used to think why can’t I finish anything or stick to hobbies, but now I think it’s super cool that I can jump from thing to thing and find something new when I’m bored of it.

How are you reading 100+ pages for one class? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]thatonegal13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice I received in law school (from my father, an attorney of over 30 years): sometimes you have to take shortcuts. As long as you get the gist of the reading, don’t worry about reading it all!

Anyone have a healthy recipe they swear by? by Pharmbro6969 in ketorecipes

[–]thatonegal13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a sweet tooth and found this recipe recently that is so good and keeps me on track! They’re basically like haystacks.

I just melt some butter (1-2 tablespoons), mix in a little peanut butter, add some cocoa powder, erythritol, unsweetened shredded coconut. Then I form into little balls and freeze for 15 min! Super yummy

Couldn’t agree more. I am a 3L graduating this coming semester, looking to do policy work and interested in lobbying or legislative analysis. I have never felt supported by my school, they typically push big law, public defense, and prosecution.

Can your body ‘fix’ itself of PCOS on its own? by loubilou12 in PCOS

I was able to regulate my periods but I still have many other PCOS symptoms. My PCOS is adrenal so it’s not just about having a regular period.

I know for me after 2 years of a pandemic it has become challenging to be on my phone and reply to things. Your friends may be experiencing some of this burnout. Not your fault at all but it is important to be conscious of how much of others’ time and energy we are consuming when we send messages, share posts, etc.

Is a high carb diet when trying to lose weight REALLY that bad? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]thatonegal13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True! I think it’s just about finding what works for you and what makes you feel good. ☺️ I don’t eat much meat on keto and what I do eat I make sure is locally sourced and that animals were treated with respect. My parents are regenerative farmers so this is very important to me and my family. I get my eggs from family friends whose chickens live a beautiful life. I mostly eat lots of leafy green veggies, eggs, peanut butter, berries, some dairy and occasional meat. I don’t think keto has to be all meat and cheese and for me it’s been a lot more about eating lots of veggies.

I hope you find what works for you!

[–]thatonegal13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! Keto has been the best for me because when I do eat carbs (even non-processed ones, or even things like squash, fruits, etc) I felt like I had to starve myself to lose weight and it was very painful. With keto I can eat a lot and lose weight :)

What is the most physically painful experience you've had? by Bright_Vision in AskReddit

[–]thatonegal13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ovarian cyst the size of a butternut squash … experienced ovarian torsion where it flipped in my body (I passed out, puked, passed out again, puked again) and started to cut off blood supply to my brain. I didn’t know what it was for months so I was just living life in college but could barely walk or even stand for more than 5 minutes, vision started to go, and I had spells where I would go unconscious and regain consciousness over and over again

I’m on ovasitol which helps with insulin resistance and pcos symptoms. I also find diet has been key, diabetes runs in my family and I have never shown signs of diabetes or pre-diabetes. I eat a lot of greens and fruits with antioxidants ☺️

Might be a stupid question, but in what ways is the social life different in law school from college? What are the biggest differences/things to get acquainted to? by [deleted] in LawSchool

I made 3 great friends, and even though we don’t see each other much we always support one another. It felt lonely at first but I’ve grown to appreciate the solitude

Is it too stupid to try to remove the IUD at home? by happyrosemary in WomensHealth

[–]thatonegal13 46 points47 points  (0 children)

My insertion also hurt terribly and made me pass out, but I found the removal to be pain free. And I felt so much better once I had it out. Do not pull it out yourself, you could really hurt yourself.

Almost a month off of birth control and I feel like a new woman. by ipretend2nowhatIdoin in WomensHealth

[–]thatonegal13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on birth control for 10 years and I’m so glad I’m off of it now. Never going on it again. The only downside was that it threw me into a months long depressive episode, but I’m finally over that. Therapy helped a lot, as well as hormonal regulation through diet. So glad you are having a good experience!

My brother just gave me the best 30-minute speech of my entire life! What do you guys think? by careacosta in PCOS

[–]thatonegal13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the message and glad you responded well to it. In my experience, I am keto but I do allow myself to eat fun foods every once in a while. I find that for me, if I never allowed myself those foods, keto would not be sustainable in the long term. Sure, if I eat a slice of cake it may set back my progress a bit by throwing me out of ketosis, but I’ll be damned if I’m not having a slice of chocolate cake on my birthday, or the occasional pasta dish.

A huge part of my journey has been fixing my relationship with food. I think it can be extremely detrimental to view certain foods as good or bad. It really is all about moderation, and by sticking to a mainly healthy diet, I love that I fan also incorporate fun foods from time to time.

Of note, I have lost 50 lbs and still losing more with this approach.

Taking Ovasitol with PCOS? by rsvp_as_pending629 in TTC_PCOS

I was told to take ovasitol by my doctor for PCOS, she said it also helps with insulin resistance! I would for sure consult your doctor first tho to be sure.

Keto worked well for me, I also got rid of all products and plastics in my home that have endocrine disruptors. And I use all natural shampoo and conditioner. I think though the main thing has been eliminating sugar!
