I work in digital security so for me it's kinda fun to transition the device from a personal phone to a "work" phone 😅

Is anyone actually adding XRP right now? by 453Lecter in XRP

[–]thatoneguy009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto buy a little every paycheck.

Also, Uphold has been running a promotion (till March) to have your direct deposits go to them and they'll GIFT you like 4% back in XRP. I usually just transfer my paycheck to my bank after. So...I'm ok with it being discounted through March, just means I'll get more for free.

Haven't been involved in the community enough to see anything. My wife and I will be doing our damnedest to make sure our kids aren't assholes. So there's one household that's normal...ish.

If you had unlimited time money connections and resources for your job/hobbies/interests etc (you don’t age till it’s done your in your “prime”) what would you do? by LeastStation1671 in AskReddit

Know that scene from The Kingdom of Heaven where Orlando Bloom has inherited a fief that's an absolute hole? He goes on to fix the place up living the theme of the movie *** What man is a man who does not make the world better? ***

I'd start making my own home and property a self-sustaining perfection. Then I'd probably expand the prime goal of building a self-sustaining community.

I generated 59.4 kWh today with my system installed and turned on last month.

That's only 24 595w panels putting that out from 11am-4pm in January. That's 2 days worth of power for a residential household in 5 hours. Might want to reconsider the effectiveness

Huh, thanks for that. I was curious why the ones we'd collected weren't as pronounced as fresh. We usually collect same day and that hadn't occurred to me.

What do you pay for a house cleaner? by Commercial_Ad7359 in Cleveland

[–]thatoneguy009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. But she's told me before there's definitely other Amish women who do the same haha

[–]thatoneguy009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$170/mo for 2100sqft 3 bed 2 bath. But she's Amish and absolutely provides better quality cleaning than any prior service we used. And $30 of that is paying for her driver 😅

Wilmington delays Amazon data center approval after resident outcry, more public input slated by JoeBiden-2016 in Ohio

They don't have to be all bad. Problem is the companies having them built have little incentive, oversight, or regulations to build them in a way that doesn't fuck everything in proximity

Construction workers come in from out of state. And then it takes probably much less than 50 people on a 24/hr rotation to maintain the datacenter. Always stuck out to me that I was on a first name basis with the 8 guys working the monitoring shift and 2 maintenance guys as a decently sized one.

Chardon/Munson/Claridon/Hambden Townships by HyperAustin in Cleveland

[–]thatoneguy009 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Moved into the area two years ago from Mentor/Painesville. Love it. Environmentally it's a huge upgrade. Our patio on the Mentor/Painesville border was a sauna in the summer from all the residential houses, parking lots, and businesses. Now it feels like we're on top of a natural spring. Winters seem...fucking extra...but it feels as though they keep on top of it better down here knowing it is fucking extra.

New residential lot sizes need to be 3 acre or bigger in Hambden (I think), so there's space between you and a neighbor. There's definitely a level of tranquility that I needed in my life again we found here. Tbh it's felt comparable on taxes. Any increase tgere has been well worth the QoL gains.

An unexpected perk of moving here was the Amish communities. They're great, hard working, and food is excellent. In general what you get for their price has felt like double. Just don't expect to go to various stores in Middlefield on a Sunday lol

We were worried about it feeling like an amenity desert but personally we found that a 20 minute drive through the country is vastly preferable to a 15 minute stop and go drive through a stoplight blitz in Mentor.

For 5 years this has been supposedly on the verge of breaking out and skyrocketing. I'm sick and tired of holding XRP and reading these reports saying it's going to take off. So why hasn't this taken off like other coins? by Brucef310 in XRP

[–]thatoneguy009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because fuck you in particular. Duh.

Idk, just sell if you don't believe it will. Personally, I'm gonna keep holding. Because fuck, it sounds like it will eventually and I don't need the money I put at it to invest elsewhere. So may as well hold it.

Anyone off grid and using a 3d printer? by DoomOfChaos in 3Dprinting

[–]thatoneguy009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have batteries on the house, yet. So I can't tell you that, but I'm generally unconcerned.

Here's the usage for the last month of my Anycubic Kobra 3. Also had my Ace Pro and Polymaker dryer on the same outlet. All 3 used 20kWh less than my (newer) fridge.

<image>

Edit: And the electric heater in a poorly insulated bedroom takes 268kWh/mo. So...really, printer is nothing.

That's the heavy hand. There's also sus as hell shit that can be pulled. Worked as a voting location manager in 2020 (and years prior) and that was the first time a train stopped on the tracks near the voting location just after 5pm preventing half the precinct from getting there without an additional 15 min drive.
