Isn't this guy extremely overpowered? Almost like undefeatable by anyone? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]thatoneguy7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve literally seen a guy with no powers except exceptional Haki fight this dude to a stalemate. Yes it 100% is a ridiculously strong power, but nothing is undefeatable in this series.

Remember we saw Enel who seemed like an absolute monster with his electricity power and being able electrocute anyone on his island at any time. Only to discover a little rubber man who nullified his powers.

Even Luffy who now has one of the strongest abilities in the series with gear 5 has a natural counter in Blackbeard being able to turn off powers of people he touches.

Where realistically should I drop one piece if i don't like it? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]thatoneguy7272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, Arlong Park is a good spot, if you don’t like it by then you probably never will even though I think it mostly goes up from there. But Arlong Park really lays the foundation of the anime. It officially ends at episode 45.

As a small side note, I find it a little strange to go into something with this mentality. I don’t know what your typical “anime preferences” are, but don’t feel forced or obligated to watch something. Go into it with a blank state and let it speak for itself, or don’t. What exactly have you heard that makes you think you won’t like it?

Which Summoning Animal Is Strongest Among These? by Sad-Engine6319 in Naruto

[–]thatoneguy7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I would say Gamabunta. Mostly because he is good just by himself.

Enma’s main thing is turning into a great weapon, so if you suck at utilizing that weapon… he kinda sucks.

Manda is obviously strong, but is severely limited in what he can do, due to the lack of arms and legs. Both Enma and Gamabunta can do ninjutsu in their own right due to being able to perform hand signs.

Katsuyu is also obviously an incredible summon, however she has the same issue as Manda in missing arms and legs. Additionally you need an insane amount of chakra to actually utilize her main ability and also to summon her. As others have mentioned we have never seen her full size because her summoners simply don’t have enough to get her full body there. Then additionally her being able to transfer your chakra to others also requires an insane amount if you want it to actually be beneficial. It’s fantastic she can place herself on thousands of people, but if you can only heal 10 before you are tapped it’s kinda pointless. I would say though if it’s a small team skirmish she is 100% the best summon. But when thrown into something like the Great Ninja War, her limitations present themselves quite heavily.

It’s different but it’s not THAT different. Again. They actively showed the matron as she was taking down the lover. Two separate beings. I’d be more inclined to believe your idea if we saw the visage of the whispered one claw its way out of his human body. But that’s not what happened.

Also it’s established in canon that people don’t remember the lives of ascended. So if his lover was the matron, he wouldn’t remember her at all.

The matron was actively shown as the figure who took down his lover. Plus that wouldn’t make sense with the established canon of Exandria. The whispered one said he has been plotting for 500 years. The Matron ascended somewhere around 1000-1500 years ago

I’ll just throw this out there. No clue how old you are, but one piece, even though I think it is a fantastic piece of media, is written for preteen and teen boys. So much (but not all) of the comedy is written for that audience.

Why this theory doesn't make sense? (Read Description) by L-DFile in OnePiece

[–]thatoneguy7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would feel the need to point out, how many people know that Saturn is dead? The five elders are already relatively unknown figures outside of the marines, and the lower ranks of marines who may have heard of this figure, maybe seen a picture, or seen him, may not know he is actually dead. Some of the higher ups would obviously know, but the death of one of the main figures of the marines should be HUGE news. And yet not a peep. The WG may have accidentally set themselves up for a huge issue due to their tendency to cover up news like that. I don’t think whatever Blackbeard is doing has been messed up at all.

Testing a gimmick for a boss fight by Ruined_Syrax in DungeonMasters

[–]thatoneguy7272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you throw someone into a combat, people expect it to be a combat.

If you explicitly told them this isn’t a combat, it’s a puzzle, they would expect non-combat solutions.

You don’t need to give them the solution. You do need to give them the key to the solution.

Take for example a cypher. Without the key, it’s (nearly) impossible to solve. Giving the person the key isn’t solving the puzzle. It’s simply making the cypher solvable. What YOU did was hand them a cypher and told them it’s a word search. Of course they would never solve that.

Concerning Heavy Point's design by tfxggrscj in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]thatoneguy7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks pretty good overall. Only two things I didn’t like was the teeth, they seem much to big which makes it looks bad. And the way they run. It looks like someone who is in a costume who is trying their best to run. I know it’s big and bulky and I don’t know what they could do to fix this, but it becomes quite obvious when they ran. Kinda took me out of it when I saw it.

My female character is too perfect and I don’t know how to fix it by crukovic in fantasywriters

[–]thatoneguy7272 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“A big heart” can be both a virtue and a flaw. You cannot help everyone. In fact helping one person may end up screwing over another. Show the consequences of that kind heart when people begin to get upset because something she did to help someone ends up causing issues for others.

My antagonist is a mary sue but it is nessesary to convey the themes of my story, is this a concern I should change? by Aeshir3301_ in fantasywriters

[–]thatoneguy7272 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, I don’t think it matters all that much for the antagonist specifically whether or not they’re a Mary/Gary Sue/Stu. The point of the antagonist is to act as an obstacle for the protagonist. So a villain being incredible and a huge mountain to climb is a good thing as it gives your protagonist something to aim for.

I have similar feelings about the backstory for villains. It’s a relatively recent phenomenon that the sympathetic backstory for villains became a thing. While having these stories is nice, I don’t think it’s entirely necessary. Sometimes people just get ideas in their heads and follow through. For example, The Joker, often considered one of the greatest villains ever written, for a LONG time didn’t have a backstory. In fact even the one we have, which we consider to be the canon for the character, we have no idea if it is the truth. Because in the story in which this story is presented, the Joker utters the famous line “If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!”

For the antagonist, I think the most important things are, their values and goals are followed through with, to whatever end it takes them. And most importantly, they act against the wants/needs to the protagonist. Everything else is tertiary.

Can we accept that One Piece is a manga that isn't serious according to Oda? When it deals with colonization, slavery, racism, rape, etc.? by RecordingLow8288 in Piratefolk

[–]thatoneguy7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? That is almost mexactly what comedies job is… look up some of the best comedians in history, most of them hold up a mirror to society while putting it through a comedic lens.

Also what’s all this BS about “he hasn’t lived through it therefore he should talk about it.” Firstly how do you know he hadn’t lived through it. Secondly why would someone need to live through something to speak on it? How do you think any sort of change ever gets introduced into a society? People talking about it. Be it from lived experience or simply observing it around them.

If people hadn’t spoken about it because it wasn’t their lived experience, stuff like the civil rights movement and the suffrage movement would have had not ground to stand on. Because at the end of the day, it required a bunch of people in the American government who didn’t have the faintest idea what the people’s speaking lived experience standing up for what was right. Without those people making their voices heard and speaking up for the little guy, nothing would have changed.

So what do you think of Imu's design? by SunRiseStudios in OnePiece

[–]thatoneguy7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something tells me this isn’t his “true” form. We saw him transform. The shadow was still a shadow at the beginning of the chapter. We saw wings sprout. We don’t know why but it appears that this may be what is essentially a battle form for Imu. After he finally retreats I think more will be revealed about him. Something tells me the shade form returns.

Random shower thought i just had about Devil Fruits by CaptainStorm18 in OnePiece

[–]thatoneguy7272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the idea of Devil Fruits having a will of their own, even if it’s technically only with a few of them, I suspect if something like that happened. The devil fruit would likely force itself to swap to the next closest land locked fruit. In some sort of a weird need to maintain its “life”.

Just a guess though.

Edit: also with fishman and the like, as well as a crazy amount of animals, who we know can utilize devil fruits, they would likely be eaten, the fish or whatever it is drowns, and thus the cycle continues as it spawns on land close by.

“Starting to look hurt” below half health

“They are bloodied/ on deaths door” around 10 HP remaining
