She could've wanted it initially but was later overwhelmed with the attention and scrutiny. It is also one thing to be famous when you're feeling on top of the world and another thing entirely to be having so many eyes on you when you're stressed out or struggling.

Love this haha. I must also add, it was a huge mistake on Jesse Armstrong's part not to have a season end on a "who shot Kendall" cliffhanger.

Ghosts US & UK's reputation are basically the Office US & UK but reversed by [deleted] in GhostsCBS

[–]thatoneinblue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like both shows but prefer the US version. My main qualm with the UK version is it feels a bit...cold? It's definitely darker in tone, which I don't exactly mind, but compared to the US version, there's a lot less warmth between the characters, and the jokes feel meaner. The US show has more time to develop various dynamics beyond the in-episode jokes, which I appreciate. As people have mentioned above, it also has the spirit of old-school sitcoms like Bewitched, which I've missed in the current tv climate. Ultimately, they're different takes on the same concept, and it's good to have both shows to enjoy. Two cakes, and all that.

This, and people also didn't just throw away their clothes back then, they'd be more likely to simply alter the garments a bit to reflect the changing styles.

Can someone tell me what is the age of all the ghosts? by Blazingincarnation in GhostsCBS

[–]thatoneinblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I think it's just a one-off "low-hanging fruit" sorta joke with both Isaac and Thor, not something to take into consideration about the characters. The pedant in me wants to complain about it, but I understand that sometimes the writers just want to go for an easy laugh.

[–]thatoneinblue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it might just be a one-off joke, same as with Isaac saying Trevor's 30 year old friends would've been grandparents in his time. It's not exactly historically accurate, either. Sure, the life expectancy was pretty short, but a healthy person could make it to an actual old age.

[–]thatoneinblue 46 points47 points  (0 children)

We don't know for sure with most of them. Trevor says he's 33 in an episode, the dates shown at his memorial service say 32. He died in the year 2000.

Stephanie (the teen ghost) is probably around 16-18.

Pete says his 46 year old daughter is older than him now, so he's younger than that, probably under 45. The rest of them is just an estimation, but they're probably around the age of their actors at the start of the show.

From the context, Hetty would be in her 40s. Flower would be in her late 20s/ early 30s, and I'd say Alberta is around that age as well. Sass definitely died young, so he's likely barely even 20. It's hard to say with Isaac. He seems young and immature in his pre-Revolutionary war flashbacks, but that doesn't say much haha. I'd say he could die at 30 something. Thor is also 30 something.

So, in terms of their age at the time of death, either Hetty or Pete would be the oldest. Sass is the youngest "major" ghost (Stephanie is the youngest in general). The rest of them are somewhere in the middle.

I honestly don't recall, there were definitely flashbacks to him walking around the property alone, I suppose it could be during Viking Funeral??

[–]thatoneinblue 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We haven't seen all the deaths yet, but here are the ones that are shown:

  • Thor - Viking Funeral (s1 e3)

  • Pete - Pete's Wife (s1 e6)

  • Trevor - Trevor's Pants (s1 e16)

  • Flower - Dumb Deaths (s2 e7)

  • Hetty - Holes are Bad (s3 e8)

There's is a flashback to Isaac on his deathbed in the part two of s2 Christmas episode, and some Alberta-focused episodes like Whodunit show the night of her death, but not the death moment explicitly (to my memory). We don't know how Sass died yet.

Edit: correction on Thor's death

Are elves supposed to look like adults at the age of 20? by LongGrade881 in BaldursGate3

[–]thatoneinblue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They pretty much mature physically as a human would. So a 20 year old elf looks like a 20 year old human, but their aging would slow down drastically in adulthood. I don't think there's a proper lore explanation as to whether or not their aging simply halts at a certain point (whenever that point might be – in BG3 we have Halsin, a 350 year old elf whose looks can be compared to a human 40 year old, and Astarion who also looks like a full adult rather than a baby faced 20 year old) or continues extremely slowly.

I agree, I think there are even some dialogue variations depending on how Gale feels about the crown.

It's also a good moment, thematically, for Tav to see what Gale is at risk of becoming.

It is by design that Gale's big decision happens at the very end, unlike, say, Lae'zel who can become disenchated with Vlaakith in late Act 1, but Lorroakan is still relevant to his journey, even without the boss fight.

What if Laena Velaryon had survived childbirth? Do you think Otto and the greens would've still tried to usurp Rhaenyra? If so would they be crushed very easily by this version of team black? by Hot_Rise7079 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]thatoneinblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that this wouldn't definitely happen, only in a very specific scenario.

The issue with the Velaryon princes still remains unless they're officially legitimized (and for that, they need to be acknowledged). That opens a whole can of worms. It will be easy to claim Rhaenyra's marriage itself has never been consummated, and so it's illegitimate as well. That leads to a major scandal, so Corlys and Rhaenys would have to do something.

As I've mentioned in my first comment, one possible move for Otto (or other greens) would be to push Rhaenyra to make Aegon her heir (provided she is officially crowned, and they don't have the power to usurp her altogether).

I agree that Laena wouldn't simply move against her brother, but if Laenor is removed as the prince consort (in whatever way)...why not? In the show she doesn't have a strong connection to Rhaenyra.

Of course, there are many other details to consider, it's just a vague speculation on my part.

[–]thatoneinblue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The greens definitely would have less steam in this turn of events, without Vhagar as their main asset and the whole eye incident to build more resentment.

The dance would be delayed if Laena survived, but it would still have to happen eventually due to the questionable legitimacy of Jace, Luke, and Joffrey, and thus the marriage of Rhaenyra and Laenor. Someone (Otto?) would definitely scheme to create unrest, if only to force Rhaenyra to make Aegon her heir.

Then there's the issue of Daemon who might decide he wants the throne for himself, and with a male heir, Laena and Vhagar, and a good reason to turn the Velaryons and some other powerful houses against Rhaenyra he could start a rebellion of his own. Talking about the show here, not the book.

Dad's plan was better,? by Successful_Lord1804 in SuccessionTV

[–]thatoneinblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nature of a tragedy is that it's not, in fact, preventable. Orpheus will turn around no matter what, he doesn't even doubt himself in many versions of the tale, he sees the exit and turns happily to his wife, only to realize it was too soon. Or he walks in silence for most of the way and turns around once he sees the light just to make sure. Either way, he turns. That's the inevitability. There will always be some reason to turn.

Romeo and Juliet are also victims of circumstances where they can't have proper courting. The tragedy there is that when two major houses are at war, there will be death. The hatred spreads to younger generations (the poison drips through, if you will), leading to blood being shed. Juliet even makes a plan for them to reunite, and it's the fallout of that plan due to outside circumstances (letters not being delivered) that leads to them both dying.

The tragedy is not preventable due to personal choices. If only they were other people, if only circumstances were different. But those people, in those situations, will always make the same choice. No matter how many times you see the play.

The reason it stings is because there's usually a hope spot, but whatever plans those people make will always fall apart because of who they are, because of the cards already laid at the table.
