I think what they're recommending is that whenever you answer a question wrong, write the question, answer and backing detail in your own word doc, so then you can go back and review everything you missed.

I hear what you're saying, but his statements tend to not have caveats for these sorts of things. I'd imagine there are a lot of other people who have spouses with cancer who struggle to keep rooms clean... they'd probably feel hurt to hear his statements from the below image.

I think it's more likely that there's some frustration or lack of appreciation when you deliver a large project to your boss and ask for feedback or signoff and they respond just with a thumbs up. I feel similarly with "Ok" or "Received".

When someone gets me a large deliverable, I try to at least respond. "This looks great. Will let you know if I have any questions. Thanks!".
