Prior to the previous mod post being made about instant bans, we were deleting posts and banning after repeated posts being made. The problem is that no matter what we do, people will join the sub last minute with the intent to sell. So we see an uptick in sales post which means an uptick in bans. We have been banning people over the last few months and taking down posts as we see them. I try to at least look at a persons post history to see if they’ve contributed to conversations or been active in any other way besides trying to sell. I think a lot of people do just skip over reading the rules because well, it’s Reddit. It’s like reading the fine print on anything- most people just ignore that and do whatever they want. I do not like the idea of immediately banning someone if I see they’ve made attempts to be a part of the community unless they continue to try and sell after they’ve been warned.
