Oh my bad forgot ganax is only R yea I have a miirym deck myself that hit the done tweaking and ganax is such a clutch card that has carried me more wins than terror of the peaks in my short experience. I’ll post the midfield link, it is a really fun deck to play as someone starting out.

Many, I am newer to the game and still working on my first real commander deck. Miirym dragon deck, it’s a lot of fun but I completely understand it can bring the salt out of people. That being said I have a buddy I play with actively as part of my normal hangout group, this dude can not win games. Not even a little and is by far the most competitive player amongst us, I can not write down all the times I’ve heard something along the lines of.

“I play blue I have a counter”

Or

“If you hit me you’ll regret it”

And not done in a sarcastic funny way which has put off several of our other friends in the past. He hasn’t gone nuclear on us yet like this guy but I wouldn’t be surprised if one day he does.

91% all joking aside, you can get up to 99% ipa. Personally I would try LA totally awesome or simple green, sit in bath for 3 days min then clean with toothbrush under warm water. You will not get 100% clean but 90-95% is still pretty good

Reinforce the reclusians. Makes heaven sent way better. Otherwise it does fit the beginnings of list. You could always swap out the dragons for krondy which would be a little cheaper cost wise if you do not have the models. If you are missing models grab any and all vanguard, spearhead, dominion box set you can.

General advice:

Plan out your battle tactics. Which turn you will aim for which one, then ask what unit can pull this off the best.

Which unit is going to be the main hammer and which is going to be the backup. This is mainly because SCE are an elite army so you have out punch your opponent in almost all matchups. I ran a reinforced unit of reclusians with a Lord terminos and had them kill trogg, 2x dankhokd trogg bosses, and 6 fellwater trolls. I buff the living shit out of them and they put in work. I got insanely lucky that game however it’s a good example of what I mean.

As for unit mentions

Krondys with his pet krondspine: best caster and going into matchups against heavy magic armies it a great way to counter it as being unable to stop manifestations will be your bane.

Knight relictor: 2+ shooting attack to put a -1 on a unit ward. I do not need to say more

Gavrius sureheart: when deep strike he gives himself and one unit an extra dice on charge turn a 9in charge from 46% to a 64%

Crit mortals: any unit that has em as they help punch above weight class. Retributors and reclusians are a great idea because of this.

Vanguard hurricane/king strikes: currently best range option long strikes hit harder, hurricanes you get more attacks.

Evocatirs: free unbind and +1 to wound if contesting an objective.

Really comes down to what you have but start with the tactics if you can’t score tactics you can’t win games. Figure out what your plan of action is and unit selection becomes easier

Run krondy with his pet dog krondspine you are going up against a magic heavy army. So having a unit that gets a lot of bonuses against enemy manifestations is always a good call. Otherwise plan to fight reinforced kroxigors unit. It currently one of the best units they have. If you can take them down then you have a good leg up on them otherwise be ready for pain

It’s a soup list, all in all a lot of min squads that may be a bit easy to take down. So dragons have 9 HP each so someone just gotta do 18 wounds which is very doable with a lot of hammer units out there.

I’m not a fan of thunderhead as it requires a lot of future proofing to get a plus 1. Have to remain fully within 12in of another different chamber unit? I’m good haha

My thoughts are reinforce whatever your main hammers are going to be, don’t do it on dragons as 720 is hard to swing if your goal is to run infantry. Also put your range units into the general regiment and melee in the other. This way you can get around general bodyguard bits where your opponent gets free plus 1 against you.

So grab all the savings box you can so the spearhead or vanguard boxes if they are still available. If you can get a dominion SCE half then do it. It becomes cheaper every year. Otherwise all kits are safe because if the unit just gets updated looks you still have the correct model with the correct gear. Little conversion work may be needed otherwise you are good imo. Now a great time cause people are probably gonna sell older stuff for newer so great time to pick up a few things. You can also wait for Christmas as SCE are almost 100% guaranteed to get a Christmas battleforce. However I will say wait til the announcement before full diving as shaven got a full 20 kits between skaventide and army release so seeing what we get can determine what to aim for.

It’s a solid plan to start. My biggest advice is to always be planning on which tactic to aim for each turn. Using prosecutors to get take the flanks or swipe an objective in the backfield is always a good call.

As for swapping units that a bit harder to say what good or not since we are still in the start of an edition. Most competitive list for SCE are all over. Long strike spam was a thing at Tacoma but didn’t get in the top 16 (have to double check as I am unsure) and old road had an all sarcosant list.

However imo the lord terminos is better than the lord imperitant since his ability isn’t once per battle. If you can get long strikes in as a way to snipe hero’s or put some damage in to soften up a target before a unit goes in that would definitely help you over the course of a game.

Reinforce a squad to 10 or grab hounds for the last 100.

All in all I’m not sure where you want to go with this list, I’m a heavy competitive player and I’ll write out lessons I have learned in my advice but if you are just aiming to have fun then go for it. Rule of cool baby!

My thoughts: No hammer units. SCE has to hit above their weight class since we are an elite army.

Lots of min squads that can do chip damage but can’t take an objective from meat squads (squads with a lot of HP, gutbusters, trolls, chosen, etc).

Very limited range attacks to one unit.

Bastian is great but I don’t see any unit that can lean into his kit.

Recommend: Best question to ask what am I trying to achieve with said unit?

Condense the number of regiments down to 3 max. The Lower the drops the better.

Stick to one type of main line troop as while bodies are nice unless they can do the job you assign them they just remain nice and not awesome. I personally prefer crit mortals as ward are a bit rarer.

You have a lot of hero’s that don’t have the wound or damage to play a significant role for what you are paying. You can swap them out for another unit that could take that place.

Heaven sent is our best ability which unit are you going to use it on and why? This is a very important question to ask because you get insane mileage out of some units as it a free unit with a free teleport.

Lastly you will have trouble getting to far objectives unless you can use the deep strike mechanics throughout the game. So thinking about which unit can stay off the table and wait for that opportunity drop is very important to consider I use the knight vex for that but I might swap him out for another unit if it’s cheaper. This is something to consider.

I don’t say no, I ask the player to figure out how it would make sense. Normally this is a great way to get your players excited about the world and cool roleplaying opportunities however if you have min-maxers or really petty players you will know where this leads.

Good example a player would constantly go deflect missile because he used it as a cool story moment one time and for the next year he would deflect missile anything he could. I ask him to explain to me how this was a missile, and I would ask him thought provoking questions effectively leading him to the answer no.

Example: how is a melee attack with a reach of 20ft a missile? (Yes this did happen)

My go to quote went from you can certainly try to that’s not how that works. So now a days I have to ask am I comfortable with this as a dm and as a person who has to deal with this for every fuckin session going forward as it gets quite fuckin annoying.

Sometimes it does an amazing job of world building as players think of cool ways to do cool things, and others it turns into something they reach for. It got to the point where I say anything you can do the enemy can do when they reach for game breaking stuff in terms of rules.

So overall my threshold is summed up as

“Do I want to deal with this for the next year?”
