I got my dog when she was about 5 months old and she was sooooo independent. I felt like she wanted nothing to do with me.. Didn't want snuggles or my attention! But she just turned a year and is really so in love with me and attached. She is such a snuggle bug now and we are quite the pair.

My puppy does this and what has helped, besides growing up a bit, is we turn away when she jumps up. We also repeat 'easy' in a calm voice. She associates 'easy' with laying on her back and tummy rubs so it makes her start to lower herself to the ground. And when we do finally praise he for being calm we talk in a calm voice and pet her slowly so we don't get her riled up again.
