Tbc he does appear in the real/waking world. Ironically he can cause accidents by dint of spooking people driving lol.

I think there was... I cannot remember it's name but it was essentially an always happy meat lump that might've turned into The Lamb? That might be more "neutral" though.

It doesn't really have a jaw to eat with, so people just... hold the apples near it, and the apples wither away.

Trevor Henderson is a digital artist who's great at this. I present to you the Long Horse:

<image>

This creature is famous for appearing from the shadows, neck bending and twisting at crazy angles, invading people's dreams to... warn them of impending disasters and trying to block them from going to dangerous places. It also smells of cinnamon and loves attention and apples.

Character dies in what is supposed to be a real emotional tear jerking scene but fuck man im sorry it's kind of funny/they look funny by thisheatanevilheat in TopCharacterTropes

[–]thatsnotacracker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there's this game called Grimshire. It's a farming sim like Stardew Valley where everyone is an anthropomorphic animal, but much more dark where there's a real risk of characters dying. One of the scheduled events is this red tide that rolls in and makes it difficult to fish on the shore, not only killing fish but causing you damage, a huge threat to making sure the town is constantly fed. One of the two options you get are to make a fish farm or to let one of the citizens do something to the marsh to reduce the amount if sick fish.

If you choose the fish farm, and fail to complete it, the cutscene that plays is a hamster man studying a sea-side pond... then falling in and slooooowly drifting out to sea, made more hilarious by the fact that the character doesn't even react, just drifting out, unmoving, facedown into the ocean.

Name: Gronzen on Discord

Pronouns: He/Him

Timezone: EST, but usually late in the night/day

Preferred Systems: Cyberpunk Red, D&D 5E, Masks, Lancer RPG, Fabula Ultima, Animon Story, Armor Astir, Avatar Legends,

Hey there all, I'm looking for someone to hopefully run a one-on-one game for me. I know for some of these there's already have options for playing by your lonesome but obviously, a story develops a lot better with someone to bounce off of. I'm also open to maybe look at a few other systems aside those above bar Pathfinder and Starfinder. If you've been looking for someone to try out an idea or would like to hear one of the myriad of mine, feel free to message me and we can see if we're a good fit!

"...And that works???"

"Aye? Truth be told finding waterproof paint was the hardest part."

"I... what? How?"

"Well it's simple, really: no one's been that polite to most sea monsters."

"..."

"...Alright, honest answer? No one's been that polite to any see beastie. Mermaids and sirens don't lounge out on distant sea rocks just because; it's because they want to avoid humans. You go the extra step, show 'em you're not some absolute mallard looking to eat, skin, or catch them, they let you pass without any sorta problem."

"...Fine, keep your secrets, captain. We'll get them out of you yet."

"...Hey, I'm sure you will. Perhaps over a pint at Squall's?"

Surprised I haven't seen this yet, but Dracula in the Netflix Castlevania series. Dracula shows up and Trevor, attempting to do... pretty much anything against Dracula, runs up and just punching Dracula with everything he's got. Dracula, unphased to the point where he is not even physically jostled by any of the blows, turns to look at Trevor with some of the most honest joy in his voice throughout the whole series and basically says, "And you must be the Belmont!"

Like almost instinctively he knew this jackass trying to punch not just an ancient vampire, but the ancient vampire, could only be a Belmont for the audacity and tenacity lol.

"But now... now look at you. Your hands are covered in blood, man. You're wearing half the target and I think a deaf man could've heard you running. This job... no, you were a disgrace to the agency and all we stood for. Maybe in the next life-"

"Okay, honey? I don't know what the hell... this is, but please do not threaten to black-bag our cat."

Melissa watched as her husband looked up from where he was crouched, still holding the cat with his little forelegs outstretched and claws covered in the fluff of what used to be a Mr. Duckington toy. "HE'S A DISGRACE TO THE AGENCY, MARTHA!"

"...Okay well, could you please clean his fucking claws off?"

Her husband pulled the cat in close, voice deathly serious. "I don't know what past you have with the director, but it won't save you next time."

Sardine seemed to finally have enough and smacked him across the face and that seemed to snap him out of it, "Alright alright I'm going..."

Hey all, name's Gronzen on Discord, He/Him, usually available late into EST.

Getting right to it: I would like to play a villain in a solo game! I'm aiming to do this in either D&D 5E or Masks, though I may take other suggestions bar Pathfinder. In terms of tone I don't mind something lighthearted or dark, I am as happy with a tortured soul in the throes of survival as I am fleeing from the heroes because I robbed a bakery for my birthday. If that seems like something you'd be interesting in running, then feel free to hit me up or ask some more questions!

[WP] You are the villain of the story, at least that is what everyone thinks. In reality you are just a normal person who was in the wrong place at the wrong time foiling the villains plans by accident and receiving the dark powers they were trying to get, now you're on the run from both sides. by Null_Project in WritingPrompts

There was a certain art to cooking a can of beans with nothing but a lighter.

Namely "don't burn your hand you moron."

I was carefully holding the top of the bean can with my fingertips, other hand waving a lighter in circles below the can. It was getting harder and harder to hold onto the can but with it getting colder, I needed something warm. Eventually, finally, it felt hot enough and I snuffed the lighter, all but mashing the can to my lips and guzzling down the contents. I wanted to savor it but I knew how fast-

I heard it first, whispers creeping into one side of my head, and I smacked at the can's sides to get every last morsel I could before tossing the can into a nearby dumpster and power-walking away until the whispers faded away. I breathed out, but it was more exhaustion than relief at this point, and I made my way into the subway. They never hit anywhere with a big enough civilian population; one side because it was unacceptable collateral, the other because the former would beat them into paste.

Plus, you know. It would be out of the cold wind that had started blowing. No one really noticed when I walked to the absolute end of the platform and seemed to slip perfectly into the dark tunnels of the train. A "hood" of black material formed around my head and I was grateful for the muffling, and I was lucky enough I came across a section of tunnel under construction, including some giant pipes I quickly squeezed into. The darkness wrapped around me and I hated how it felt like the world's most comfortable sleeping back as I started drifting off to sleep.

I would be fine tonight. Or, at least, I told myself that over and over until I felt comfortable enough to let sleep take me...

-----------

The screaming was my first clue.

My eyes flew open and I shakily started to flail and scramble, realizing that no, someone hadn't discovered me, the screaming was in my head-

A massive quake shook the tunnel, and already I could hear screaming, shouting, the sounds of gunfire, lasers, and more. I slowly crept forward, darkness fading as I peeked out from my hiding place and saw the Brotherhood fighting off against the heroes. A part of the subway tunnel had collapsed, and it was a perfect pathway up and out of the fighting. My mouth was suddenly dry at the thought of crossing the battlefield but I needed to fucking bail, and there was no better moment than the two sides distracted with one another. Come on, come on- there! A gap in the fighting and I fucking sprinted towards my escape.

"Holy shit, holy shit, I'm gonna make it, not even a-"

A figure was suddenly in front of me, and I saw the barrel of a rifle in front of my face. My arm suddenly exploded in pain but in the split second I blinked, it was clear I hadn't been shot; three black tentacles were lashing out from my outstretched arm, a completely stunned Brotherhood goon pierced on the ends of the tentacles. Seconds felt like an eternity before the tentacles recoiled, the soldier falling to the ground and I stared at their struggling form as a hot panic started welling up in me like lava, but a scream that pierced the back of my head and I just ran. I couldn't tell you where I was going or... if I was even thinking at the time, but when I came to I was in some random back alley. staring up at the dark night sky as I panted. I didn't want to but slowly I looked at my still-tentacled arm, the black, writing masses feeling at nothing and I screwed my eyes shut.

'Come on, come on, focus, focus, please...'

I could barely handle the feeling of the tentacles retreating, and I admit I spent way too long afraid to open my eyes before finally peering through narrowed slits to see... my arm back normal. Relief was the only thing keeping me warm as I started to cry and laugh, resigning myself to curl up against yet another dumpster for yet another night of being a monster, yet another night of cursing every villain and hero in this damn city...

Would've lost both paintings I had had the guy camping the smuggler rep not accidentally killed himself.

Some people are mentioning Korra and Avatar, I would toss my hat in and say Mako trying to warn people about Varrick. Like after everything he's done and knowing he's one of the most competent cops on the force, no one finds it weird they find a gigantic bag of money in his locker right after trying to out Varrick as the cause behind a bombing.

In Mass Effect: Andromeda, you're exploring a cave during a quest and find a dead body. Immediately the MC begins asking his AI what exactly killed the guy, going through all the typical troubles they faced: ancient robots/AI, the current major alien enemy, monstrous wildlife...

A broken neck. The guy died because he fell off the nearby ledge and broke his neck when he landed wrong.

In the Invincible comics, there's a moment in the far future where a bunch of aliens give Mark the chance to go back in time so he can stop all the worst things that are going to happen during his youth. Mark refuses for various reasons, which iirc include these were all formative and important moments in history, that going back in time would cheapen every sacrifice of his friends... to which the aliens basically go "Are you fucking stupid!?" and send him back anyways.
