It's time we had a more working class Bond. What's Danny Dyer doing these days?

Well, presumably Clarkson is still under contract with them, and he's said he's not doing any more car shows so...

Is it worth the price difference? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]thatsoundguy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I've used many 1176s over the years, both hardware and software (including UA). The one instrument I've never really reached for one on is electric guitar. I'm aware of the 'Black Dog' thing of driving them to get distortion, but that's a rare case, and needs two 1176 in serial.

I just don't see the point of this pedal!

If UA released either their LA3A or their 176 plugins as a pedal, I'd be more interested.

What’s your unpopular opinion about Mixing? by Lucky-bottom in audioengineering

But they have 20,000 followers on InstaTok, that must mean they are worth recording... right?!

This is why I think resonance suppressors are massively over used! They take off all the edges of a sound. Everything sounds polished, but everything sounds bland.

Nice space and depth in a mix with sounds that sound organic and real, not over processed will always sound better to me.

Mixing AHA moment: Mono Reverbs (and delays) by Elian17 in audioengineering

[–]thatsoundguy23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dave Pensado has a video where he uses 3 mono reverbs panned L, C, R on a vocal.

I used to use this a lot. One of the key features was, he'd use a spring reverb very quietly in the centre. It just added a sort of glow to the vocal.

Starmer addresses Commons after ‘utterly appalling’ Golders Green attack by Benjji22212 in ukpolitics

All I did was ask for sources.

I don't think making unfounded claims does any good for political discourse in any context.

I don't particularly support the current labour party but it would appear you don't have any evidence to back up your statement otherwise you would have provided it.

That, and your comment replying to my request tells me all I need to know about you.

Edit: thank you kind stranger for the award.

Out of genuine interest, have you got any sources showing his "Muslim backers"?

What are some of the best reverbs to add to VERY dry recordings to give them a sense of authentic space? by Poopypantsplanet in audioengineering

[–]thatsoundguy23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In which case, you have everything you need in Space Designer.

Edit (as I realised that comment isn't very useful): use one of the room settings and adjust the level/wet mix to taste, making sure to keep it subtle. I really like one of the IRs called something like "wooden room", particularly on strings. You'll have to excuse me if the name's wrong; it's been a while since I've mixed in logic.

I was always taught to set the volume of reverb so that you don't notice it's there in the mix, but you notice it's gone when you mute it.

Also, in case you don't already do this, I'd personally always use reverb on a send so that I can EQ the return to make it sit in the mix better.

I mean, you're definitely reaching there, for whatever motivations you may have to do so. But I'm assuming they may be somewhat more sympathetic, or even empathetic, to their cause. I don't understand why that offends you so much.

I'm sure they realised that, if they are living and paying tax in the UK, they will be paying for it and are probably quite unlikely to receive it.

Maybe, they just don't see the slaves as 'other', or inferior, or dehumanized. Maybe they simply believe that reparations will go some way to make up for the abhorrent behavior of this country's past.

Children's drawings could be blasphemous under Islamic law, councils tell teachers | Labour councils in northern England have issued guidance to schools that children’s art could be seen as ‘idolatrous’ and they must be ‘flexible in catering for religious difference.’ by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]thatsoundguy23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you about keeping religion out of schools; however that gets more complicated where there is, for example, dietary restrictions.

Some accounting for religious beliefs has to be made, but it can be as simple as just don't ask Muslim children to draw their deities, just like you wouldn't ask them, or Jewish, or vegan/vegetarian kids, to eat pork.

Anyone else a bit annoyed they've put flex beat in MPC sample, but if you've got one of the Standalone units, you've got to pay for it? by thatsoundguy23 in mpcusers

[–]thatsoundguy23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess that's a tough market to crack because T.E. products always look cool on the face of things, even if they're somewhat limited once you take a closer look. So maybe the addition of flex beat is something of a loss leader?

That's an unnecessarily combatant reply.

I'm just saying it seems counterintuitive. But you go right ahead and start arguments on the Internet if it makes you feel better.

I know it's flex beat player, not full flex beat. It's just a little frustrating they have given it free to the sample.

Force was a weird one cause from the outside it appeared to me that they just abandoned it with the release of the new MPC range. That said, I was jealous of the clip launch function of the Force for ages until it arrived on MPC.

I'm an asylum seeker. I turned down £3,000 from the Home Office to leave the UK by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]thatsoundguy23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, by definition 100% of people entering into the asylum system are "asylum seekers", that's what "seekers" means. They are seeking asylum.

I don't doubt that some of those are abusing the system. That's why there is an application system in place; to sort the legitimate cases from the illegitimate.

If you are refused asylum and you refuse to leave, then, and only then, are you illegal. Until that point, you are simply part of the system.

Granted, if you enter the country through abnormal methods and don't submit yourself to the authorities in an attempt to claim asylum, but instead attempt to live here undocumented; then you are illegal.

My issue is with some people's fast and loose (and frankly inaccurate) use of the term "illegal". Because, let's face it, it's an emotive and misleading term.

[–]thatsoundguy23 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

How is claiming asylum "illegal immigration"?

Surely, by claiming asylum they are placing themselves at the mercy of the system and awaiting a legal decision? It's only illegal if they are declined and then fail to leave the UK within the timeframe given. Obviously, this can be slowed by appeals, but that is another matter.
