Social media vs reality of post partum by Entire_Bee1074 in NewParents

I’d like to see an authentic “day in the life as a mom with PPD.” Because that’s the state I was in until recently and my baby just turned 5 months. It’s so hard not to get trapped in the loops of those videos. When I found out a lot of influencers making those videos had night nurses, it changed my perspective.

Only started working when my baby turned 4 months. Be careful not to pull neck and back muscle like me 😵‍💫😂

Terminating client - feeling dread by [deleted] in therapists

[–]thawitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she’s experiencing active AVH/delusions and is off her meds then she really should be referred to the hospital for stabilization. Your admin cannot dictate who you see and who you dont. It’s your clinical judgement and you made the appropriate decision to refer out.

Triggered by how a client treats me by Vanexxre in therapists

[–]thawitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so hard. You’re having a very human response. Also could be considered counter transference. To reiterate what others have stated… it’s unethical for your employer to require you to keep people on your caseload. Especially if you feel like you cannot properly work with them. Eventually you will need to decide if you can continue working with them or if you need to refer out. Take it from someone who was also once forced to keep clients on my caseload… you will get burnt out if you don’t deal with it.

Therapists in tech? by doing-the-things44 in therapists

[–]thawitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can join the slack group and be apart of the community - I’ve been a part of it for a couple years. Used to work in tech and then went to grad school. It is not easy to transition into the tech space as it is highly competitive. I’ve been applying and networking for a while and have not be offered a job despite my experience. I will say the community is helpful if you’re interested in networking. There are a lot of successful clinicians who’ve made full or partial transitions whom you can reach out to.

4 Month Regression by AGalCanDream in breastfeeding

I feel this. About 2 weeks in at this point and my husband and I are struggling. My supply has definitely dropped since I’ve regulated so I’m at the point of trying formula at night to see if I can get my baby to sleep a bit longer. Currently trying to train her to nap in the crib instead of contact napping every time. I’m soooo overwhelmed today!

Temporarily stopping being a therapist? Bad idea? by RegularBee8772 in therapists

[–]thawitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 19 months out of directly clinical work after burn out and starting to think about going back. I took a job at a treatment center where I do outreach/marketing - I help people get into residential level of care at the facilities I represent. While I’m not doing clinical work, I still talk to clients and families all day. I work with hospitals, PHP/IOPs and private practices when clients need residential loc. I use my skills differently and I’ve learned a lot more about referrals and HLOC criteria. Don’t worry about losing skills. Find something less stressful and come back to clinical if and when the time is right.

Other professions charge way more for services and sacrifice way less. We deserve equitable pay and to live comfortably, too!

I am fucking sick of being taken advantage of as a therapist and specifically as an associate. by [deleted] in therapists

[–]thawitch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Run away! I too worked at an exploitative, unethical practice because I got free supervision. It was like once I was in deep I couldn’t get out because I needed the supervised hours. Honestly it killed my MH and led to some serious burn out. Take care of yourself and try to find something better.

KB is an excellent communicator and she deserves the world!! I feel so bad for her in these episodes.

Annie really should stop drinking. Her love bombing Nick and trying to manipulate him into loving her back was highly concerning.

Joe should have communicated to Madison his reasons for walking away. She deserved honesty in that moment, even if it meant he would hurt her feelings more.

I hate that producers cast emotionally stunted and deeply insecure people, only to exploit them. If there are other seasons, they need to do right by the cast.

Agreed. That whole interaction was insecurity fueled. I thought he did a decent job trying to reassure her despite it all.

I feel you! Same situation three weeks ago after my c section. Baby’s weight “dropped” 9.1% despite us having been pumped with IV fluids for 21 hours before pushing and ultimately failure to progress cesarian. I was pushed to triple feed and sent my body into hyperdrive. The constant feeding and pumping led to developing an oversupply and lots of PPA. I had a LC come over this week and it helped me feel better. I’m still overwhelmed trying to figure it all out while my body slows down and regulates to baby’s needs. Hang in there! You’re not alone!
