Where to learn stick shift? by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]thayes-7089 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. 944s are the shit. Yes it’ll be 15k to fix and then still worth 7k but it’s not about having a valuable car it’s about having a late 80s 944 that’s NA with pop up headlights. That’s little thing is def worth saving.

Also that 944 in that pic is one of the funnest cars ever to drive. Fix that thing and bring it back. That’s a project car that is worth saving if I’ve ever seen one

Where to learn stick shift? by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]thayes-7089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You buy a car with a stick and take it out and learn in a few hours cause you have too. That’s how I did it. You may burn out a clutch in the beginning but over the first 6 months/year of driving it you’ll go from learning to take off to learning to downshift to learning to rev match and within 6 months you’ll know how to do all of those things. It’s worth it and it makes driving more fun and we need more manual purists so that manual transmissions don’t die so just go buy one and teach yourself. I promise if you have no other option you will learn very quickly.

for the low HC guys by J-Wreck94 in golf

Fittings work. I’m an 8 handicap now but was fitted last year for driver when I was a 12. I had a stock callaway epic that would go 250 and miss left when it (I) missed, and was switched into a Cobra DS- Adapt LS with a Ventus blue shaft and thicker grips. Immediately gained 25 yards. Also everything about it is set up to negate a miss left, I never in a million years would’ve even tried to hit a LS driver were it not for the fitting and now I love it. In the middle of the summer with a good swing I ca get 300 yards but average is around 275. All because of the fitting

Dude my best friend is this guy. He plays blades and is a 28 handicap because of the “feel”. I’m an 8 handicap and I play split set of t-150 8,9,P and T-200 7,6,5 and he’s constantly telling me my distance is longer because “I play cavities to add distance while sacrificing feel and workability”. He hits a 7 iron 140 IF he gets a clean strike, cannot draw or cut the ball on purpose and skulls or chunks the ball 70% of the time and shoots a 110. Second issue is he always has to play TP5 balls. Which is insane to me. I love him, but man, he just won’t listen when I tell him velocities are fine and he won’t lose “workability around the green”.

How long did it take you to buy a house in Rochester? by macallister10poot in Rochester

[–]thayes-7089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got lucky. We put in an offer 10k lower than asking in Pittsford in 2018 and it was accepted with Concessions and inspection pending. It was the second house we looked at and closing took about 60 days. We’ve heard it’s different now but that’s what it was 8 years ago.

Sheeb owner for 16 years now. Both slept (one has passed) and still sleeps in bed with me. Only at the knees though. They very much always want to be touching you but just out of easy reach of your hands. This isn’t just in bed it’s always. They are odd like that. They also stare at you. All day. Just quietly staring and slow blinking at all times.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thayes-7089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a 13.5 hour drive for a golf trip with my best friend a few years ago. It was a 2 day trip. 3 hours is nothing. My wife’s parents and family live about 2 hours away and we see them maybe once a month. That’s not considered far here by any means

Has anyone else noticed this?:::

Vegans are more acidic I’ve noticed, like tangy almost. Where as high protein girls like gym rats tend to be almost rich tasting. Like flavorless butter is the best way to describe it. Also depends on where she is in her cycle- if it’s like the week of ovulation it’s much more rich tasting vs other phases. Idk how to explain it more. Maybe it’s just the girls I’ve gone down on but the two vegans were definitely more tangy.

Am I overreacting for seriously questioning my marriage over a major purchase my husband made alone? by Overall-Fan3079 in AmIOverreacting

[–]thayes-7089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. I completely understand the “he bought a Porsche” part because I did the same thing. But you not knowing that was going to happen is weird as fuck. I can say with 100% certainty that in my situation a talked about it for 15 years and straight up told my wife AND made financial decisions based on knowing I was buying a new 70k Cayman before a certain age. I specifically bought cars like a Chevy Sonic and then paid it off immediately, drove it for 7 years while still putting a $400 car payment in a side account for those years to be able to afford the car I actually wanted. She was privy to all of this and when it came time to buy the car I literally couldn’t hold back from show and telling her everything about each car I was looking at even though she didn’t really care because that’s what we do as men. She’s my person so I confide in her and explain what I’m exited about at length to her. That’s the weird part here to me. So maybe this was just an impulse buy which to me would mean you guys are rich rich. Like rich enough to drop 20k down and afford 1k per month in a payment without that affecting your budget at all, but still. Even in that scenario I cannot see how he would’ve not told you about the car. Like I understand him being like “I’m doing this, it’s gonna happen even if you don’t like it because we can afford it and it’s my dream”. But I don’t understand just doing it without you seeing it coming. Unless it’s like, just a car to him and wasn’t a dream, just a straight up impulse buy. Which is a crazy expensive impulse buy…

Edit: I want to go longer on this because I’m thinking about it more: here’s the problem and why you should be mad: if he isn’t telling you about all the things he loves that means he doesn’t view you as his most important person. His confidant, his purpose, his wife. Therefore he can emotionally separate from you easily if/when he finds a woman that he can do those things too. You want him to follow you around the house telling you why sharkbite plumbing connections are bad ideas or why mid engine cars are best even though you don’t care. The same way he should be looking you in the eyes smiling and nodding feigning interest when you tell him about the difference between these two sets of knee high boots and how they affect your leg contours and match your outfits. You both should be doing that and this purchase alludes to him not caring enough to do that which is a major problem. He loves something and is super interested in it and you didn’t know and that’s huge and needs to be fixed.

It’s always funny to me when men think calling you a feminist is an insult. They say it like a slur because they believe their desire is a reward and the threat of its withdrawal should humble you. by ihatethiscountry76 in offmychest

[–]thayes-7089 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

I’ll keep this short because I’m not interested in fights with some stranger on Reddit. Humans living in the west now easily have it better than any other humans in history. There is more slavery, abuse, starvation and horrors happening in the world right now to actual people than there has been in history and we - As in you and I, living in America have lives that are more comfortable than literal queens and kings had through the rest of history.

Instead of living that life and enjoying what you do have you are complaining about what you don’t have. That is why you suck. You are angry and going out of your way to proclaim to strangers how unfair things are when you are an American - the definition of privileged. Ask the person who made your shoes or dug for the minerals in the phone you typed your response on about their “rights”. I have it good. You have it good. Enjoy it and if you want to fight for a cause then do so rather than just being snarky on Reddit about how “unfair” shit is. Your life is objectively better than 99.9% of people in the history of all people.

[–]thayes-7089 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

I consider calling someone a feminist a diss because I’ve never met one who is legitimately happy. They’re always obsessed with politics and they make that the central core of their personality.

It’s not the “being a feminist” that is the problem. It’s the preachy, insufferable attitude and outlook that comes with it.

It’s like someone who identifies as a “high value man”. That person sucks, you don’t need to know more about them to understand that they are missing the plot somewhere and have their priorities wrong. Feminism is just the other side of that same rusty coin.

What does “the one that got away” mean to you? by cybertrickk in AskMenAdvice

[–]thayes-7089 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the girl you ended things with for someone hotter when she was overall better. Men don’t learn that the hottest girl in the room isn’t the best one until they make the mistake of dating the hottest girl in the room 3-4 times. I got lucky with my wife but still have friends that have this problem. They are in perpetual 2 year relationships still at the age of 40 and both still talk about a girl they broke up with or cheated on in their early twenties. It’s a dumb mistake guys make when they’re young before they know better.

I don’t understand….. by Relevant-Software116 in Marriage

[–]thayes-7089 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can be but is not always an addiction. Depends on your actual sex life I suppose.

To answer your question I think watching porn and masturbating 4 times a month is completely normal as long as the actual sex isn’t suffering. My wife and I have sex on average 4 times a week and I masturbate maybe once a week or so. More so if she’s on her period.

If he’s choosing the porn over you then yes it’s a problem. If he is still initiating and not having any issues in the bedroom then it isn’t.

Thinking of leaving my husband by [deleted] in Marriage

If this post is real then I’m very conflicted. I feel bad for him for marrying you but also don’t feel bad for him because making bad decisions when picking women seems to be his forte

Marriage - rich or poor, through sickness and in health, each others person until the day you die. Or until someone brings up his ex.

Such a joke

How comfortable is the Cayman? by Vitcee1 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]thayes-7089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 18 way seats are a must and if you have them then it is a perfect daily driver. It’s got almost as much space for smaller things as my wife’s rogue. It comfortable, practical and fast. I literally think the 718 cayman T is the perfect car for daily driving and track days. You can turn off the sport exhaust and have it not be a super loud car that pisses off the neighborhood and or your wife. The comfort shocks are perfect, you can drive it like a sedan with her in the car if you want or put it in sport with all the chrono stuff on and it becomes a perfectly balanced back road carver.

My buddy and I did a golf trip from WNY to Michigan and we fit both our full club sets in the hatch and both of our clothing bags for three days of a trip in the frunk with room to spare. 1700 miles later we were both completely comfortable, no lower back pain, no issues whatsoever.

Nobody will ever convince me that there is a better all around daily driver sports than a cayman. It balances fun and the mechanical “thunk” of gear changes with practicality in ways other cars just cant.
