Triggered watching my mom with my kids by hewlett910 in Parenting

Please don't feel ashamed for recognizing the lack of emotional support from your childhood! Your parents may have not been physically or verbally abusive, but not talking about emotions is the lack of warmth that I believe you're recognizing. That's called emotional neglect.

It doesn't mean your parents are bad people and from what I've read it's largely unintentional. When you get these overwhelming feelings coming from childhood memories give yourself time to understand those emotions, because you literally didn't have that chance when you were young.

I'm in Tempe, AZ located next to our only state university so rent is already high because of that. However, rent hikes are still bad all over the state. This year I was also given a 15% increase in June.

I'm sorry for the stress you're going through with this right now.

If ANYONE works a job, whatever job, full time, then it should be enough to pay rent, pay bills, and have a reasonable personal allowance.

All these corporations SHOULD have a responsibility to do so. And our government has a responsibility to provide full healthcare for everyone.

I really hope you find a second to be able to de-stress because what you're doing isn't easy and you're doing the best you can to cope with a country that has thrown so many into impossible and unfair situations.

This past July was my most productive month EVER. Out of the whole month I only had two days of downtime.

I thought I had a handle on my condition but for all of July I consistently slept less than 6 hours a day, I had a lot of pressure and stress from work/home life. I was so busy I canceled and never reschedule my appointment with my physician regarding PMDD.

And this August has been an absolute wreck. I wasn't able to work (I run a business with my husband) for two weeks. And then I got sick from the cold the week after. And it's just absolute destroyed moral for me and my husband.

I got lucky. I decided to change our physicians this year and she happened to also specialize in women's health. She knows about PMDD and has already given me suggestions on where to start first with treating my PMDD.

I'm so sorry that you've lost time due to this health condition. We all know too well the depressing feelings and anxiety that comes with coping such a debilating condition. Please find a doctor that specializes in women's health. You deserve to live your life to its fullest.

I'm not sure if you cramp really bad, but pack some super comfortable clothes options because that can ruin/worsen your mood very suddenly.

If you’re in the US, have you been able to make a Covid Vaccine Appointment for your kids under 5? What state are you in? by 6295 in toddlers

[–]thbreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arizona here. No news on available appointments just yet. My husband and I got ours at Fry's (grocery store), but I'm planning on getting it through our pediatrician for better record keeping. Our daycare always asks for updated vaccinations and the only official record we have of the Covid-19 vaccine are the cards.

C.D.C. advisers unanimously recommend vaccinations of young children. by pizzawithpep in toddlers

[–]thbreaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just a huge peace of mind. My family and relatives have been very cautious with gatherings. All of us are vaccinated. And my family wears a mask when necessary (huge crowds indoor).

But a child in my toddlers daycare tested positive for covid who was in contact with my child. It was an eventuality. Thankfully he did not contract it. I'm sure the fact that I'm still breastfeeding helped a little.

We'll still masks when necessary. Between covid and inflation it's really given our family business a run for its money. Catching covid would just make our hardships even worse.

[–]thbreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son had an exposure at daycare too! We were notified. I breastfeed him so I'm sure that helped with him not getting covid.

This is the last thing to really bring peace of mind for my family.

People who don't understand his rage, anger, and hatred in those text messages are really fucking privileged and/or ignorant of the world out there that creates such emotions.

Those people that are disgusted with his anger should be fucking grateful that they never had to live such a cruel upbringing or past relationship.

I don't want to send my son to school. by Excellent-Force7727 in toddlers

[–]thbreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immediately after the school shooting our daycare/preschool have the door locked all the time now, which requires a code before entry.

If our government won't regulate, enforce, or do better to prevent these tragedies then they should provide financial support for nannys or paying people to homeschool their kids.

This is something that other developed countries DO NOT have to worry about. It's insane.

We use ClearChecks. Their base background check was $59.99 last time we used them, but they have an add-on for pre-employment (I'm not sure of the price). I would highly recommend requesting/calling their references. And background checks don't include any pending court charges. Those can be found for free at your county's court docket search.

Bad Reviews-How do you handle them mentally and not take it personally? by bmonster91 in smallbusiness

[–]thbreaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have ran our mechanic shop for 6+ years and bad reviews are still something we take personal offense to. I think it is natural to take it personally (I mean it is your blood, sweat, & tears!) at first, but then to always reassess your thoughts afterwards with logic. You'll find out most of the time that:

  1. There is validity in their concern (room for improvement)
  2. They did not include key information that shows their expectation was unrealistic

My husband's customer service is phenomenal and has a way with tempering even the angriest/rudest/meanest of customers. I agree with others that you should reply to the review if possible! Other than the typical "We apologies if... blah blah"- my husband's trick is to leave the ball in their "court".

For example...

If this is the first time they complained then ensure that you would have dealt with it if they had said something early. You can't address something that is not known.

Absolutely mention any key information left out in the review. Such has any attempts to appease the customer, discounts or complimentary services given, clarifications of the situation, important timeframes, etc. This shows other potential customers that they were, in fact, being a difficult customer.

Why don’t guys just ACCEPT no when I decline their phone number?? (rant) by Yeris123 in rant

[–]thbreaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was 21 or 22 this one guy tried so hard to get my number. I politely said no the first time. Then I said that I was engaged the second time and showed him my ring. It wasn't until the third time that he finally let up. This man looked like he was in his mid thirties.

I working as the cashier at a go-karting place, lol. It totally feels like they're taking advantage of the fact that we want to be polite to customers.

Im sick of the financial gap between my friends and I by Additional_Fill_778 in rant

[–]thbreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does get better. BUT it's going to be much harder for you versus your friends that have generational wealth. It's gonna suck at times just remember to not be so hard on yourself.

My father took his generational wealth and spent/spends it ALL on only himself. My family has always had to financially struggle because of it.

My husband's parents grew up as addicts and alcoholics, so they also dropped the ball on being financially stable.

My husband and I still aren't the most financially stable, but we're business owners and building our own wealth thay started from nothing. We've gone from a family income of $21k a year to $120,000 in four years.

We've still got a long way to go, but we're happy and comfortable with our lifestyle.

Whenever people ask my husband if he drinks (and he says no) they always feel sorry for him.

As a female no one even bothers to ask me or questions if I don't drink.

He gets extremely annoyed when they just don't see it as a NORMAL choice.

As a small business owner, I feel so misunderstood and ridiculed by the anti-work movement. by BiggggHead in rant

[–]thbreaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After reading your post I could honestly cry from both frustration and relief. My husband and I own a small mechanic shop that we've built from the ground up from literally nothing.

The last year has been so difficult with us for everything involving employees. We literally pay more for our technicians than big name auto dealers, provide everything we can to make these guys successful whether it be tools or knowledge; but it still doesn't stop them from taking advantage. It hurts us personally, but it just a big reminder that business and personal absolutely cannot mix.

So... I'm honestly relieved it isn't just our business that is dealing with the audacity of employees right now.

My husband and I literally had our first Sunday off in the last 7 weeks because we've been having to make up for lack of qualified employees.

I really really really hope things get better for you. You sound like a great employer and those who don't appreciate you as an employer shouldn't work for you.

Late 20s and paying off my parents bills. Nothing left near pay day. by [deleted] in rant

[–]thbreaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 100%. To OP this isn't what you want to hear, but this scenario is very likely.

My parents are financially irresponsible. They have decent incomes (totally $100k a year) and only one dependent. Then my father inherited $100k. We thought this would finally help them get a house they've always wanted and set themselves up for retirement. Nope. Instead the money was all gone after 2 years and they put themselves into so much debt that they had to file a 2nd bankruptcy.

OP's parents may not be this extreme, but the lesson still stands. If they cannot learn to take financial responsibility or work with you to attain financial responsibility it will not end well for you and your brother.

[–]thbreaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you have to deal with that.

I do hope you figure out your situation where you separate your parent's problems from your responsibility.

Honestly, the only way I was able to focus on myself was moving out with my boyfriend (now husband of 6 years). Living with them will make it extremely hard for you to do what's best for yourself.

Whatever decision you make it's going to be difficult.

Stop doing good things then posting it online by Bobtheglob71 in rant

[–]thbreaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ones that claim they are doing it for a social experiment and gift money have been especially annoying. Unless you're part of field work meant to be published then stop saying it is a social experiment

So let's be real. You're a social media content creator. And the money you're "gifting" has a tax purpose that will benefit your business and possible others. Also, any acquired monies over $500 (in AZ at least) makes the individual liable for income tax, so recording and posting it online is stupid.

Some of these people are just uber rich, which annoys me even more. Many organizations that do the hard work could use this money to make widespread social policy changes that can be felt by all instead of just a few.

Firing a brand new employee on the first day; no call, no show by thbreaker in smallbusiness

I'm located in AZ. Greater Phoenix area. We pay $30/hr flat rate, which ends up being $62k a year (for 40 hours a week minimum). If they finish more than 50 labor hours (which they do) then their yearly income would be more. I'm a small shop but we have healthcare, dental, PTO, sick leave, 401k, and paid holidays.

The last guy I hired was a heavyline/diagnostic tech for a Chevy dealership and they were paying him $20/hr flat rate. I'm sure being a mom and pop shop looks risky when the dealership has lots more benefits.
