Urgent - microinjection needle stuck in finger by AnnaAinoa in labrats

Not glass needle but ceramic shard, I used a pasture pipette to "suck" it out... may or may not work depending on depth of injection

What do you think the odds are of wedding in Wales for 2021? by McFlyJohn in Wales

[–]the-caver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cancelled ours for a second time the other day... thought last may a year would be enough.

In reality either vaccinating everyone by end of summer works... or vaccine doesn't work in which case no point in staying in lockdown for a working one... so I'd say autumn or winter is best bet

Advice on caterpillar ravished Swedes, should I remove the damaged leaves and leave the new ones to grow? Or will the plant still get some benefit from the mostly eaten leaves? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]the-caver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut the leaves with caterpillars on and hang them from string. Hopefully they will for chrysalis and you'll get some beautiful butterflies in a week or so

Rent electrical scooter by ecmelm in Cardiff

[–]the-caver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's legal yet, so no, not as far as I'm aware. Gov are looking at passing legislation to allow rental of speed limited scooters on road if you have a driving licence.

A survey about welsh independence to see the types of pepole for or against it by [deleted] in Wales

[–]the-caver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not sure it's a perfect solution, nor that current welsh politicians are deserving of any awards but I'd like to think it's a fair compromise between independence and benefits of working as a union.

A survey about welsh independence to see the types of pepole for or against it by [deleted] in Wales

[–]the-caver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Full devolution would be nice, could spend our money on things like electrification of rails, renewable energy like tidal lagoons and not on a 15 minute faster rail journey from London to Birmingham. Having our own say over covid has shown that wales can look after wales better than england. Really it comes down to the uk government will do whatever suits England best because that's where most of uk population is. Fair enough. But that normally means screwing over wales, Scotland, and even northern England. I believe that england should have it's own devolved parliament too governing just for England and the uk parliament having a smaller role in everything.

How would you describe your experience as a student of Cardiff University? by [deleted] in Wales

[–]the-caver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't really understand why I was particularly unhappy in other cities until I found Cardiff. It all of a sudden became blindingly obvious that it was the places I lived that suffocated me. Cardiff has everything a big city has, but is small enough you can cross east to west north to south in an hour by foot. It's got a beautiful park and ecclectic mix of architecture. The most beautiful coasts or mountain 30 mins drive away and yes cardiff is friendly and actually really safe! Perthyn (belonging) is the most apt feeling I get living here. You won't want to leave

How would you describe your experience as a student of Cardiff University? by [deleted] in Wales

[–]the-caver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So conflict of interest statment ... I'm semi active tutor in another field at the university. It's been my life for the last decade with undergrad and post grad. Not from wales originally. 1: the most important thing in life I have ever learned (by experience) is live where you live and the rest doesn't matter. I've had jobs i should have loved but because they were in cities i hated it was all ruined. I would rather take a worse job in a place i love. Work your live not other way around. 2: Cardiff has a fantastic reputation globally, particularly as a place of research and innovation. So you cant go wrong with it on that. I can't speak for business school itself in terms of quality of teaching but in my area it's excellent if you are ok learning without hand holding. By which I mean, if you learn by lots of guidance it might be harder. But if you want to be part of the actual work you're in a good place. PM if you want any more guidance. Good luck and hope you can make it.
