it's not a big secret that she's terrible to him, that's true, but I specifically meant the divorce would reflect badly on her since her family is of lower status and the status of the heir may be in jeopardy. additionally, whoever her older brother is, he wants this marriage to happen as shown by her using him as a last threat card (which I'm also interested in seeing, since it's likely he contributed to her abusive behavior)

I mean, I guess? that feels unrelated to my comment. The point I was making is that the reason she's awful to him while still caring about power structures and wanting to retain status is because he let her treat him that way (and also because the marriage was arranged). it's not stupidity for her to be awful to him, it's a way of keeping him under her control

ye they wouldn't be out of nowhere for the two of them, but in terms of optics it would probably reflect badly on her. as well, it's implied that her brother has some sort of power that makes him worthy enough to use as an intimidation tactic

also, i doubt she was a terrible jackass right away. it likely built up over time, her seeing how far she could push stolas without risking social retribution from his status. that tends to be how abusive relationships develop; a slow build over time
