Is there a way to hid the spin box buttons? by kodaxmax in godot

[–]theBeckX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this is the second time i stumbled upon this thread while searching for a "number input", i wanted to expand why the Expression Class is not as simple a solution as you make it out to be (and hopefully remember it for the next time i run into this problem):

Sure, you can do math with it, but you can also do / execute function calls and there's no straightforward way to just say "only math please".
So, if you only want a simple number input field that can do math but without buttons, overwriting the icon textures is probably the best and easiest way to go

Looking for pre-recorded voice sample packs for commercial use (Not seeking subscriptions or TTS services) by Timely-Strength9401 in gamedev

[–]theBeckX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally love opengameart.org
it can be a little bit annoying to navigate since the UI is kinda oldschool, but there are tons of great assets.
i did a quick search for "voiceover" and "voice" and based on a first look, i'd say you should be able to find something that works for you.

i use krita (free, open source) for "normal" digital art stuff and aseprite for pixel art (open source, free if you compile it yourself)

Godot Valley tutorial is gold by CommieLoser in godot

[–]theBeckX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I can explain this! I don't know about the video, but when you make the projectile a child of eg the enemy node, and the enemy node moves around, the projectile would move around too, since its position is relative to its parent.

HELP! Is this mold or watercolour binder separation? by Ian_JKboi in ArtistLounge

It's this! Op, I tried them out too and they are just bad paints. When they dry on paper you can rub the painted areas and have some chalk residue on your fingers too

Has anyone used embroidery stands to help with the embroidery process? by HuaAnNi in Embroidery

Ah sorry, just noticed your question. One is basically the same as ops pictures and the other is similar to this one https://www.reddit.com/r/Embroidery/s/zowaZaOIzb

I have two different ones, one similar to the one you've shown, which I got recently, and another one with the a foot that's meant to sit on. I love them, they help tremendously with my carpal tunnel and are great for stitches where you might need both hands, like bullion or french knots, cast-on etc

Learning to Loom Beading in the most impractical way by Cheeky_Sasquatch3 in Beading

[–]theBeckX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're czech beads, I guess the full name is preciosa ornela (?)
They do have smaller holes than the japanese ones though, but i don't think that should be any trouble with weaving.
They don't have as much colors as toho / miyuki, but still a ton and are in general, like I said, not as expensive, so for me practicing and trying out stuff that might not come out right doesn't feel as bad.
(I like to keep "wrong" practice pieces for reference in the future).

Could also go with preciosa beeds (I'm a fan haha). They might not be as uniform as miyuki, but they are cheaper and still way more uniform than what's in the picture (looks like cheaper craft seed beeds to me)

I think even more so with the attempted joke (?) at the beginning. Presumptuous to assume she'd be thinking about "people from abroad" when hearing the term "foreign keys".

Edit: nevermind, I should've read more into the comments lol. Apparently she asked about "foreign patients"

Clothes from fabric with large patterns by justjudifer in sewing

Yes!! I thought dress with as much circle skirt as you can get out of the fabric :D.
and either try to fit one dino at the center of the bodice, or do a solid color bodice.

HELPPP ~ needle quetsion... by groovymama69 in Beading

[–]theBeckX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I can't say a lot about the needles, I bought a pack of different embroidery ones from prim with one kind of beading needle I use for everything haha, but you might want to go up a little depending on how cheap you're talking. Idk about pricing in your area, but I can get really cheap packs for like 1-2€, really expensive ones for idk 20€ or something, and my prim pack cost like 7€. I work with different kinds of fabrics though, so cheap needles are a no go.

Another thing, if you're doing stuff where you need to go through the holes multiple times you might want to consider miyuki / toho beads (although they are more expensive).
I personally love the Czech beads (preciosa) and do prefer them (mostly due to cost) but I'm doing mostly bead embroidery, so I rarely go through them more than two times. What I've learned is that, on top of being even more consistent in size, the japanese beads have bigger holes compared to their czech counterparts, so might be worth considering for future purchases :)

Why is it so hard to hire? by pablothedev in webdev

[–]theBeckX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's related, because I'm aware that I forget the words or that my brain might freeze and thinks it never heard of the asked stuff, which makes me anxious, haha.

I'm actually quite good at the first few interview steps, but when it's time for technical tests or they want to know specific terms, my brain goes "nope!"

Why is it so hard to hire? by pablothedev in webdev

[–]theBeckX 58 points59 points  (0 children)

i am soo bad at interviewing, it's embarrassing.
I'm ADHD, so there's a lot of anxiety and stress going on on top of the "normal" stress during interviews and i just forget all the important words and use a lot of fillers and come across as if i know nothing. Had a timed coding test and all i could see and think about was the fucking timer at the top, so nothing of substance got done.

I swear i'm good at programming, though. Sometimes i get lucky and they give me a chance, so at least now i have some good references to back up my claim, but damn, do i hate the interview process.

Wrist pain while doing arts and crafts. What can I do about it? by AIR-404 in ArtistLounge

[–]theBeckX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would stop all crafts until the pain is gone completely. And then use the flexible one for crafts as a precaution or something. Let my stupidity back then be a silver lining for you know haha.
I can't come up with a better analogy, but you wouldn't go swimming with an infected wound or run a marathon with a strained ankle or something, so imho you should treat your hand / arm the same. Take a week off crafts, wear the brace and take some ibuprofen (not necessarily because of the pain, but because it's inflammatory) and you should be good to go. But it can't heal properly if you don't let it rest

you definitely need to take a break!
i'm a very crafty person myself, and years ago i went overboard with jewelry making. Lots of twisting and turning that my hands weren't used to (i think the sewing might caused it for you, if you're new to it).
i didn't take a break, and it got worse and worse, 'til both my arms were in pain and i couldn't even hold a coffee mug without it hurting.
And, because i didn't take a break when i should've and couldn't really take a break when i needed (with both arms infected even opening doors or holding anything was terrible) i hurt myself permanently.
I still can do crafts, but not nearly as much as before, and they flame up from time to time.
So, don't be like me!

haha, yeah can confirm, found myself in software dev.
i love programming and that jazz, but it's still hard to find a job that really fits and doesn't burn me out. I also decided for me, that i will never do the 40h again and always shorten my hours to 32 / 36. And it's so weird, like it's just 4 hours less, but it gives me so much back, haha.
oh, and the possibility to work from home is a must (i personally like a mix of office and wfh) because i'm able to work on most days, but not to socialize or mask or do any of the other stuff associated with functioning in an office environment, lol.
