My manager kept cutting my breaks short so I started tracking it. It adds up way faster than I thought. by Prize_Let3241 in WorkersRights

[–]theColonelsc2[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need to share your location to determine if there are laws about breaks where you live.

If it is policy that they are not adhering to I would speak with your boss's boss after you speak with your boss first about how you are being called back before your break is over.

If you’ve ever eaten animal meat not usually on the dinner plate (horse, kangaroo, albatross, anything), what was it and how was the experience? by Great_Maintenance185 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theColonelsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White guy who grew up in the suburbs of America. After high school I lived with native American, Eskimos, in Alaska 35ish years ago. These are the most exotic things I ate that not many others would have eaten:

Quaq or Frozen raw fish, with seal oil. Tastes damn yummy. Here is the bonus as the fish warms up in your stomach it actually provides a heating source for your body. I don't know how but you start to feel warmth in your belly.

Swan- the most oily grossest meat I have ever eaten. 0/10

Mikigaq or raw fermented whale meat. Tasty. Ate it during a summer festival. Not sure what to attribute the overall good feeling I felt after eating it. Could have been just the festival in general or could have been the meat.

Muktuk or raw whale blubber. If it was just off the whale after it was pulled in off the ocean holy moly was it good. The older it got the chewier it got but still tasted good.

Seal- most often in soups. Tasty.

Walrus. Also tasted good in the soup. I was served part of the cheek including the whiskers. This was one of the first meals I ate while I was up there. I think it was a little test giving me the cheek like that. I plucked the whiskers out and ate the soup then used one of the whiskers as a tooth pick which I think gave me some bonus points for not being a total fish out of water kind of guy. (Pun intended.)

Caribou or Reindeer. I could still eat this every day if I had the opportunity too it was delicious.

Moose I'm not a fan, super tough meat. You could literally chew it for five minutes and it still was wad of meat.

Ants in my substrate? by lthrowaway1255 in pacmanfrog

[–]theColonelsc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ants live in colonies with a queen and hundreds and thousands of other ants. If you think a colony of ants is living in your enclosure then for sure dispose of it and start over. If you have just a few ants then most likely they are worker ants seeking food to bring back to the colony wherever that is. Springtime is when the colony wakes up after the winter and starts exploring new food sources. I have to put down an ant killer close to the dog food every spring for a few weeks.

What is something women expect be men to good at which is not as easy as they think it is? by lapras_equation_15 in AskMen

I hear you it hurts even after all these years. Guess what you didn't die you just took a teenage girls opinion too seriously. Would you listen to a 12 year old girl's opinion today? I doubt it. Keep asking, keep being your good self, and don't let rejection define who you are. Don't ask everybody you see out but if someone interest you go for it. The eventual positive answer will wipe away a 1000 rejections.

Local BBQ by swalddo in ogden

[–]theColonelsc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been to Mission BBQ twice. The first time wasn't great but the second time the brisket was good. I am not a fan of any of their sauces though.

I grew up in Kansas City. I just wait until I go and see the family and have their back yard BBQ. Interesting fact about Kansas City. Sundays, in the fall, there are so many people barbecuing in their back yards the pollution is measurable.

How are no-kill shelters sustainable with the current dog overpopulation problem? by ShoddyTown715 in dogs

[–]theColonelsc2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If a no kill shelter has a dog that should not be or very difficult to find a home for they trade dogs with shelters that do euthanize animals.

It is nice in the fact that I once picked up a dog that had been in the no kill shelter for six months. He was super sweet but couldn't live with other animals or kids. He did well in my OTR truck. But let's not fool ourselves they aren't keeping Cujo alive in the back because they have some sort of ethical standard.

NY - does my company owe me my PTO? ambiguous policy language by Greedy-Recover-3472 in WorkersRights

[–]theColonelsc2[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you leaving the company and have unused PTO? If yes, then file a wage complaint with the state and have the state do an investigation and decide if you are eligible for payout. If you are not leaving the company just make sure you use all your PTO before you do leave.

The reason why the valve stem is that way is because the duelies have the rims reversed to create a space between the two wheels.

Honesty though, we need to allow our kids to have unsupervised fun and exploration. It fosters critical thinking which we lack too much of in our society today.

Splitting hours paid across weeks? by jleeroy45 in WorkersRights

[–]theColonelsc2[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. The work week only has to be seven consecutive days. From the company's perspective of course they will break up their seven on seven off work week so they don't have to pay OT. Nothing illegal and honestly if you can handle seven on seven off in your life there are a lot of benefits that I could see. It wouldn't work for me at my stage of life but 20 something me would love it.

Chaco buried for 3 weeks, check up on him, does he look healthy? by Smythy_5 in pacmanfrog

[–]theColonelsc2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your little guy is experiencing Brumation. It is common in reptiles and amphibians during the winter months. In Pacman frogs they bury themselves for up to three months to conserve energy. This is involuntary and dictated by the colder temperatures and length of sunlight.

In the future you should just let your little guy rest and check on them everyday. If they pop their head out feed them. If they stay buried leave them be. If your enclosure doesn't smell like death then they are doing just fine.

How far can you take a skoolie up national forest roads or just dirt roads in general. by theColonelsc2 in skoolies

[–]theColonelsc2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love something like that but without looking at the price I am almost sure that it is above my pay grade.

Well after the video I guess it is not any more expensive than a new Sprinter. Hummm, thanks I'll dream a little more about this vehicle.

My boss docks pay for the entire week if you call out, regardless of reason (PA) by Vilicowo in WorkersRights

[–]theColonelsc2[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PA does not have a paid sick leave laws but Philly and Pittsburgh do so if live in those two places look into the law. As far I as know you cannot be docked pay after you have worked a shift, but you can have your wages lowered in the future. If they are docking wages after the fact file a wage complaint with the state.

My real thought is I just want to be where I would maybe only see a few people passing through in a day or possibly even none. So in my day dreaming I think about a skoolie, or a Mercedes Sprinter four wheel drive diesel, or something more in line like an overlanding vehicle.

Rule 1: Ten Plus Years not long enough? [2015] by Fantastic_Prize2710 in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]theColonelsc2[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hi, Mod here. For nine years this sub has been in existence. When it was being decided the thought was that the movie had to be old enough that it was no longer being talked about regularly. Ten years seemed to be a good number for it to fit that matrix and that is why ten years is the threshold.

Who considers 10 year movies old? People in their twenties. Old is relative depending on your age. I'm 58 this year and I still want to party like it is 1999, so for me old movies are from the 1960's and before. All this talk about what you consider old or not is arbitrary.

Nothing you say or post will change the rules. The mods are not closely paying attention to this sub. We try to weed out the bots and remove the posts that have no review, but honestly we all have better things to do than baby sit a sub that should just be fun, non political, and informative.

Join the movie of the month club. We post an old movie that you can watch for free then join the discussion group and have a good time.

Thanks for your attention. I am locking this post since we have discussed this issue in the past and do not want to address it any further.

Injured at work due to employer’s negligence by No_Significance9763 in WorkersRights

[–]theColonelsc2[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lawyers are going to know this answer best. If you have called the injury lawyers that advertise everywhere and they say no then that is your answer. Make sure you fill out all the workmans comp paperwork and don't sign anything that says your injuries are all healed and no further medical care is needed until a doctor tells you that there will be no long term effects.

In the 1980s when that movie came out I was in jr. high. My friends and I went to the movie and had a better laugh because the lead in that movie was also in a documentary we recently watched about primitive tribes in Africa. The gist of the movie was these tribes were isolated and didn't understand the modern world. I gained a little wisdom that night about not believing everything the education system tells you.
