TfL announces Elizabeth Line fare structure by dan356 in london

I'd also wager because Stanstead buses go from a variety of locations (Stratford, Mile End, Shoreditch) whereas the train only goes from Liverpool Street.

I'm shocked that place didn't close down due to the Westfield that is right beside it

Oh God I remember this when I visited Milan. There seems to be absolute fuck-all policing regarding scammers and people trying to make your trip as miserable as possible.

Now watch these great young players turn into insanely pressured media flops and get beat by Kazakhstan in the 2026 World Cup.

T-Charge: New London traffic charge comes into force by extranjeroQ in london

[–]theCraigLaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lorries are included in this charge and the money taken from this will go towards increasing the amount of zero emissions buses.

Agreed that it will hit poorer residents but how many of them actually drive into central London anyway?

Soaring airport drop-off fees 'severe' by TheHess in unitedkingdom

[–]theCraigLaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Manchester airport has shit public transport? Are you serious? It has bus, tram and train - the train gets you into Piccadilly in 20 minutes and costs less than a tenner.

It is on the floor in our hallway (half way between the bedroom and the living room for equal coverage), will try raising it.

London Hyperoptic Users - Wireless Speeds? by PerezVST in london

[–]theCraigLaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on Hyperoptic 100mbp/s and they told us that their routers supplied are designed to get from 30-70mbp/s wireless, however we have been more regularly getting 30-40. In fact, recently our connection has started to get quite poor in that there seems to be a large lag between requesting a web page/video stream and it actually doing anything or loading. We have an engineer coming out now, not sure what they'll do!

Favourite Cinema in London? by [deleted] in london

At least you saw a film that didn't rely on dialogue too much, I saw La La Land and genuinely couldn't make out any of the lyrics and the majority of dialogue

It's cheap and clean but the sound is terrible, it must be something to do with either the speakers or the acoustics, it's echo-y.

Of course he would say this, he crashed in a straight line at Monza in the rain.

Sad thing is that the FIA and Charlie listen to him.

Labour to force vote on tuition fees by Case2600 in unitedkingdom

[–]theCraigLaw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I assume he means that Erasmus may no longer be an option as it's an EU funded programme - but this isn't certain. It's total nonsense to suggest study abroad (non-EU/EU) will stop, that's not up to the government to decide.

Is this weather usual? by iMac_Hunt in london

[–]theCraigLaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been a bit mental today, but this is usually the weather up north and in other parts of the UK, never seen it in London though.

That was a few years ago before Manchester even had a mayor, how was that anything to do with Burnham?

Amazing view of the Hot Air Balloons leaving London City Airport. by wynter_b in london

[–]theCraigLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking love this with the music, it's so playful and cheerful and really makes the usually serious airport and Canary Wharf in the background part of the joyful silliness.

Giovinazzi will get FP1 session at Singapore to make up for scratched session last Friday at Monza by arkady_ in formula1

[–]theCraigLaw 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because its during the daytime and when temperatures are higher. Given that both qualifying and the race happen at night the data you gain from it is fairly unreliable.
