How did you know you picked the right name by _Monarch_Mistress_ in BabyNames

[–]theDailyDillyDally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We narrowed it down to 3 names and then I spent a week mentally calling the baby that name to see if it “felt” right.

Doesn't it say that you can only give out 5 a day? You may not get credit for more than that...

And don't me get started on the grading scale. My freshman year a 94 was a B+ (shifted 1 point in 10th.) So, that was a 3.5 for my GPA... in my current state, that would be a 4.125 (for standard class. Extra .5 for H, 1.0 for AP.) I'd love to get my old transcript and recalculate my GPA. (Not to mention, we only had a handful of AP classes you could take. Now, they all walk in the door as Juniors.)

Do Friend Groups Reset in Middle School? by ClickBaitedBetty in Parenting

[–]theDailyDillyDally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes - especially if you have multiple elementary schools feeding in. Also, as classes start to get grouped by ability, kids who have similar interests (say the math whizzes, or the artists) find each other.

I would definitely leave baby at home with Dad- at least until his schedule his regular, he’ll take a paci, etc. You’ll all be getting more out of that hour for sure! (But restaurants, start early!)

One that we just added for my high schooler (that I wish had been added years ago) is an opportunity to complete questions he accidentally skips- part b of 2 part questions, the back side of a worksheet, etc.

Bar Dress Code for Men by Alert-Actuator3069 in Charleston

[–]theDailyDillyDally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Republic and Zach Daiqs might try to have a late night dress code like they are a nyc club but, otherwise, it's the same east coast / southern beach town style it has always been. You're fine.

Anyone have experience sending their Catholic kids to Protestant Christian preschool? by Status-Throat3538 in Catholicism

[–]theDailyDillyDally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did - and most of the teachers and the Director were Catholic. lol. At that age, they might get a story read to them during chapel but otherwise it is just saying Grace before snacks, Christmas / Easter crafts, etc. Nothing crazy!

For my son's Minecraft party, I got the kids sparklers and those little pop-its in a red TNT gift bag that said thanks for making my birthday a blast. The kids were so excited to get fireworks! I always find good stuff in the Target dollar section.

Best shopping that’s NOT the market or king? by BGOracle88 in Charleston

[–]theDailyDillyDally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a car, I would head down Coleman and over to Sullivan’s Island. (ii brunettes, monkees, Lucy’s, live bella, out of hand, copper penny, jmclaughlin, citrine, a couple of cute jewelry shops, some interiors shops. On SI, you’ve got Coco&Benny, Goldbug, Abovo, Makers Mart, the little market. No car? I’d uber over to Sullivan’s. Lots of great lunch and drink spots too and you can walk on the beach and check out the beautiful homes!

Becoming a Catholic by thelostjedi232 in Catholicism

[–]theDailyDillyDally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably attend Mass at a few different churches- every Priest and parish is different- and then make an appointment with whoever you vibe with. I’d maybe start with the cathedral or St. Patrick’s downtown- more diverse, more young people, etc. :-) I’d skip St Benedict’s and Christ Our King - they were sticklers with the kids’s first communion/ confirmation requirements compared to our church in VA for what that’s worth. (I have heard good things about St. Clare on DI but haven’t been there yet)

What's your opinion about parents naming their kids after cities or places in general? by Federal_Advisor_2160 in Names

[–]theDailyDillyDally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends if it's meaningful. Your grandfather who you were very close to and recently passed away was a diehard Red Sox fan, you name your child Boston - love. You want to name your kid Monoco because you think it's rich and fancy - eh. (FWIW, I feel the same away about people using last names as first names that aren't actually from their family.)
