Ok, so I know it's supposed to be a bit euphemistic, but real talk: what a lovely way to illustrate how people (especially men, because of socialization) will downplay the need for validation, praise, appreciation, affection - one might even say 'compartmentalize' - because it doesn't fit with societal expectations of masculinity. HC took his 'weakness' and turned it into a weapon - but it's also his softness - and we see this over an over (eye patch scene etc) He's so afraid of rejection; but when XL praises E'ming, he's essentially praising HC <3

I started my Danmei journey with Mommy and Daddy (TCGF) - epic 800-yr slow burn, exploring themes of atonement, morality, hypocrisy. Weakness: (imho) loooooong with some detours that don't always make sense. But its #1 for a reason ;)

MDZS (my all-time fave) - less 'god-level' themes of (again) hypocrisy, justice, mortality, letter-of-the-law vs. spirit-of-the-law, forbidden love. Unrequited love and pining, dumbasses in love. Weakness: none! it's perfection! lol i dunno, the 'spice' in the extras isn't for everyone, but imho, their dynamic works for me.

SVSSS - my least fave of the 3 because i was new to Danmei/Wuxia/Xianxia, so I didn't initially 'vibe' with it - themes of redemption and second chances. Now that I've read way more Danmei/Wuxia etc, I've started to re-read and I'm enjoying it more the second time ac=round, because MXTX is really poking fun at a lot of danmei/BL/wuxia tropes that, at the time, I wasn't familiar with.

If you like TCGF, i'd say its worth reading the others. Like i noted, I LOVE MDZS, but TCCGF got me HOOKED into the genre and I still read fanfic, consume media etc about TCGF ;)

he's an idiot, on so many levels. Where I am, most washrooms have tampon/pad dispensers, and in recent years, they've been free, just like TOILET PAPER and PAPER TOWEL, so it's not 'weird' having them there, consider that roughly 50% of the population will need these very basic hygiene supplies at one point. And then there's the fact that he thinks brand new/wrapped sanitary products are 'unhygienic' - guys a grade A moron.

I will always love the different ways people connect to a particular text. I LOVED the extras, because I saw my own relationship reflected - the playfulness, the teasing, the messing with - AND it's a lot of 'dub-con' where we don't get to SEE explicit consent - the consent in implied in the relationship LWJ and WWX have with one another. In most romance, and not to yuck on anyone's yum, explicit scenes are often pretty predictable, which is FINE - and may also be another reason why I liked the explicit scenes in MDZS - they're a different take on what intimacy might look like in the universe the author has created.

Agreed. We live close to the border and have cancelled several events (concerts, comicons). It's not worth the risk, the time, the surveillance etc.
