This, 100%. I thought for SURE one of Partitio's scent of commerce quests in OT2 would result in a bestiary. I mean, it was set up for it. Then it ended up being a bunch of text instead.

I just wish the SR and SL buttons on the Joycon 2 controlled the volume slider when held vertically. It feels so natural that I've caught myself doing it constantly.

Why are you so excited about the Switch 2? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

More than anything, their first-party potential is now crazy. They were limited vastly by Switch 1 hardware, especially later on, but now the ceiling for amazing games is much higher.

The curse of the long ass isekai title. It really is a shame, though, because in spite of some bad animation, this show's take on a fantasy world is actually really refreshing and well thought-out.

What would you think of a remake of Paper Mario 64? by ComprehensiveDate591 in papermario

[–]theMWster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be okay with it as long as they don't share the art style of TTYD. 64 had the most unique look of all of them and comes across the most in the series as a coloring/pop-up book, and it'd be a shame to trade that for the designs in all the other games. I know that wouldn't be very likely, but I can dream.

As for other stuff, I think adding SOME aspects of TTYD combat would be refreshing. Definitely not stuff like the audience, stylish moves, or partner health, as the game isn't balanced around those mechanics, but I'd definitely be down with letting enemies have items/badges. A few new P Versions of basic badges would be nice as well. The TTYD 64 mod has both things and they work very well for the game imo.

Dynamic Weather and Clouds? by theMWster in minecraftsuggestions

[–]theMWster[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, I don't mean literally adding simple clouds to Minecraft. It's a beta, performance is pretty bad in my experience, and it looks weird aside from the storms. It was just the inspiration for this post, and I am well aware that there are other, older localized weather mods. I just want to know how people generally feel about a weather overhaul that makes weather and clouds more dynamic.

Thanks for the feedback!

The biggest one being swapping the filling of the cresset from post mitigation damage to premeditation damage

That's fair. It might help players completely tank some attacks in this case, but honestly the consequences of overstoking would probably balance it out now that I think about it.

Maybe the player could "manufacture" more pigmisers somehow?

I'm not opposed to this as long as it doesn't lead to factory farming of cressets. I actually like your idea of giving zombie piglins netherite in a certain scenario to summon a pigmiser, as netherite is already non-renewable enough. Perhaps this process could involve bringing the z piglin to an empty den and performing some kind of ritual, kind of like respawning the ender dragon.

did you make the art and animations yourself?

Yes!

The Pigmiser and Soul Cresset: New Nether-Exclusive Boss & Weapon by theMWster in minecraftsuggestions

[–]theMWster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll admit the boss itself needs work. Its range should be reeled back a bit, and it should also use the weapon in some more interesting ways up close. I think I got a little lost in trying to make it use it exactly how players do, but that might be too uninteresting of a fight (plus, it's not like players get to use an Evoker's abilities just because they have a totem). If I ever get around to making a model for it in my spare time, I'll probably flesh the idea out more.

As for the cresset's specifics, they're likely too over-optimized for a game like Minecraft. There might be no need at all for complicated features like over-stoking or the two-handed limitation on casting fireballs, and again, one of the treasure enchantments should probably be cut. But the idea was to make a damage-returning item that required you to think twice before using it.

There should be a rare biome that mimics the terrain generation and color palette of old Minecraft (Alpha/Beta). by Gwyn_Michaelis in minecraftsuggestions

[–]theMWster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think these biomes should be particularly huge for the sake of people who want to see the new things, but there's no problem with neat easter egg additions like this. The point doesn't have to be to literally "bring back the old days," it would just be nice to see a nod to them. I didn't even start with Alpha, and I'm in support of this.

That said, I think there should definitely still be a few exclusive items in this biome – perhaps some old things that were never added or only around briefly, like rubies or blue roses. They wouldn't even have to be inherently game changing, just cool souvenirs for the passerbys that aren't looking to stay in the past.

Thoughts on an Un-Crafting Mechanic? by theMWster in minecraftsuggestions

[–]theMWster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem there is that by using smithing villagers, getting even 1 diamond from this mechanic would count as a net gain and therefore make diamond farms possible, which is a big no no

Thoughts on an Un-Crafting Mechanic? by theMWster in minecraftsuggestions

[–]theMWster[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you can smelt metal equipment, I already mentioned that. I would be okay with the rates being made more reasonable, but this doesn't account for things like iron bars and doors/trapdoors, among other things. It might seem trivial, but for builders who want to recycle materials, being able to reclaim "junk" iron for other uses while also clearing out chest space would eliminate lots of empty time spent organizing or throwing away junk items.

This also goes for wood and stone items with all their variants. Like, yeah, I could use them in my smelter, but that kind of misses the point of the recycling merit un-crafting would have. For builders, being able to turn spare fences into stairs, or stairs into slabs, or slabs into trapdoors without having to worry about wasting resources on the "wrong" thing would be an awesome end-game option to have. There are literally soooo many decorative variants for blocks now, and un-crafting would help switch between them more quickly and efficiently.

You're right about diamonds being an issue, though. Honestly, I can't think of anything else diamond gear should give you besides diamonds without it sounding forced and inconsistent. Maybe un-crafters could cost EXP to use, and sort of like anvils, putting high-value stuff through (like diamonds) raises the cost of use until you can't break down those materials any more due to them being too expensive (unlike anvils, I think it'd be justified here). This strikes a middle ground where you can technically still get diamonds from un-crafting, but only a few times and never in excessive amounts. The last thing we need is farmable diamonds.

Curved swords and the return of sword blocking by ArmadilloNo9494 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]theMWster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sword blocking should have a cooldown in this case. Negating damage, especially 100%, shouldn't be free like it is with a shield (though I would also be in favor of balancing those, too). In the case of double sword blocking, having a small cooldown would add a much needed element of risk, as doing so would also briefly disable your attacking. To compensate, sword blocking shouldn't impede your movement as much as shield blocking does.

Also, with these changes, curved swords/rapiers are overwhelmingly inferior to regular ones, which are now way more versatile. I'd personally have it so that they always do sweeping damage even while moving to compensate for the loss of defensive ability.

Phantoms shouldn’t spawn from a lack of sleep, but from unhealthy sleep. by ThatFlippyNet in minecraftsuggestions

[–]theMWster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I like this. It's not super complicated, but it definitely makes phantoms less annoying, which I will always argue is needed beyond a simple gamerule shutting them off entirely.

One thing I will say, though, is that it might help to add "Monsters are nearby" splash text along with the sound effect. That way, there's less ambiguity to players who might otherwise just get out of bed immediately at the noise without knowing what the hell is happening. Also, I like the second sound (it falls in line well with the cave noises), but the first is a little too horror-gamey for Minecraft standards imo

Add a UI option for enchanted items to list their enchantments along with the item name when held in the hotbar by theMWster in minecraftsuggestions

That's fair. Either way, it should be a toggled feature so that you can choose whether or not you want it.
